- Just like I imagined, the t6 R design performs very similarly to the amazing XC90. The only thing I wasn't keen on was the outdated, and difficult to use button layout and navigation interface. Styling, power, handling, comfort were all 10/10. Brakes were good, not great. Overall this car deserves my utmost recommendation... do your research on reliability though!
It had an in-line six cylinder turbocharged engine with 300 hp and 325 lb. ft of torque. But with the polestar engineering upgrades, it puts out 325 hp and 354 lb. ft of torque.
Does the polestar support the 2016 version. And if so where can I buy one?
It looks bigger than a 2.0 liter because its a 3.0 liter inline 6. That's why you see 6 intake runners on the intake manifold and not 4.
Thanks for pointing it out! I thought something was strange. It was labeled as a 2.0l at my dealership...I should never trust labels!
@@KirkKreifels the 3.0 turbo i6 was one of the best motors Volvo made, the 2.4 5 cylinder T5 motor is also one of Volvo's best motors, both are able to handle 500 hp without opening up the engine.
Yup, this is the I6 ;-) The 2016 could have either the Twincharged 2L I4, or the Turbocharged 3L I6 depending on trim. In this year, the R design more commonly has the I6, but I believe by 2017 all the T6's and R Design's are all the twincharged 2L I4. The I6 will run smoother and quieter and generally sound better, and likely make much more power if you build it. But I think I prefer the gas mileage and tech going into the 2L I4. It's still a very gutsy engine.

The straight 6 turbo T6 engine in this car is well regarded in the Volvo community. Typically a favourite among volvo techs as it's powerful and generally reliable. It does have some issues with the PCV (I believe the issue is a weak plastic diaphragm) but it's easily accessible near the top of the engine.

Incredibly thorough and helpful video. I do love the look of the second generation, but clearly they put a lot of thought and effort into this particular model. I hope the 302hp supercharged and turbo charged car I’m getting is as fun to drive. Your shoe and sock game are strong! I use that rear 12V for a portable air compressor for my inflatable standup paddle board. 👍 I’ll be bringing home a fine example of this T6 R-design in the next week or two. Can’t wait. Cheers.

The only use i could think of for a 12v in the back of a trunk would be a vacuum. Wish they just put traditional wall plugs instead. Anyways, great review.

You are describing the wrong engine. This engine is a Yamaha inline 6 block transversely mounted with 1 turbo. The engine you’re describing is the 4 cylinder with the foam top with was only available in 2017 and onwards

Learn your product man! That is a Inline 6 turbo not a twin charged turbo/supercharger.
That is not a 2.0l inline 4. It's 3.0T, inline 6

This guy don't know the vehicle hes reviewing. The power meter is in all the volvos with that cluster. You can change the entire cluster and the colors. Says its a 2.0l when its the 6 cylinder.
