    as a osu!droid player, i think osu!lazer it's actually pretty good(except for the _incredibly_ low fps), you can be more connected with pc users, play with them, map, skin, etc.
    the only issues are the low fps and maybe that the circles are a bit small

      The circle size however cant be changed since it matches the pc version 1:1 and changing it would make the game extremely adbalanced against pc players.

    Another change I'd like to see is more specific to mapping, make ranking a map 10x easier.
    Was my first map worse than my newer mapping? Absolutely.
    Is my desire to rank a map in any way improving my mapping, no.
    I've improved my mapping by mapping more and for fun.
    The issue is when you look on the website no where does it say "A BN should outright ignore your map because they "don't like the genre" or think a couple things could be better in your map".
    Instead what it says is to follow the mapping rules and that it's good enough. Which... it should be?
    Is every note on time, representing a rhythm in the song? Yes? Rank it.
    I can see arguments against those really dumb screen jump maps, where the notes ARE on time, but the flow and general rhythm isn't there. "shitmaps" if you will should be under scrutiny.
    But I think an amazing example is louder than steel by parkour wizard. As a map, it's bland, it's uneventful, nothing changes and the kiai's go around in circles... But if it had more difficulties, it should instantly be ranked, why? IT breaks no rules or regulations.
    Yet we're now in an elitist Beatmap Nominator mindset where everything must be heavily modded, changed and scrutinised before even being considered to be LOOKED AT.
    It should steer towards "Is it rankable? Yes. Does it follow consistent or semi consistent techniques? Yes. Rank it.".
    This'd fix so many of the issues in the mapping community where I've known so many people who gave up because it took over a year to even get 1 nomination.
    I've messaged every single BN who's open, used their sheet forms if that's their preferred method, and only 1 replied giving me something to work on, which I will, but even that is such a minor detail (slider shape inconsistency).
    I get wanting mappers to reach a point of independence where their map is so consistent and highly rated that a person don't have much criticism. But it doesn't exist.
    As a person, I love pishifat. But damn are his maps 50/50 for me. I forgot the name of it but there's an alternating song he mapped that's really fun.
    On the flip side, 115 (COD) was mapped HORRENDOUSLY in my opinion. Should it still be ranked? Yup. But I don't like it, and that's fine.
    IF I ever end up on the bn you bet I'm throwing through a ton of nominations that are rankable even if there's TINY issues.
    We need to make it the BN's job to NOMINATE RANKABLE MAPS. Not, to be elitists who say "no I won't nominate it because I don't like the genre".
    Years ago I actually went for ranked and a guy said he loved the map, but hated the genre and didn't want to put more songs like it into the game. (It was a helblinde drum and bass-y kinda song).

    • @l.c.431
      @l.c.431 Рік тому +3

      you know most bns aren't being "elitists" when they don't want to rank a map because they don't like the genre right? it's the same reason why mod queues have prefered genres listed often, people want to spend time working of stuff they actually enjoy and given the sheer amount of maps trying to enter ranked nowadays, bns can pick the ones they like the most.
      that's not to say I disagree with the sentiment of making ranking maps easier, but I believe that right now the most reliable way to do that is just to get more bns.

    • @inv41id
      @inv41id Рік тому +1

      BNs are allowed to pick what they nominate just as mappers are allowed to pick what they map. They're all volunteers after all.
      As for lowering the standards for getting maps ranked? I wholeheartedly disagree. A big reason for why osu! feels more polished than most rhythm games is that the bar for getting maps onto the default map listing page is high. I don't want to have to sift through 90% garbage maps in the ranked section like I already do with the graveyard.

    • @addsy3653
      @addsy3653 Рік тому +2

      @L. C. more BNs only fixes the issue if we force more that like varieties of genres.
      What you're also failing to see is I'm saying the only thing that matters if ranking criteria.
      Is it rankable? Yes? Rank it.
      It takes me 2 watch through of a song to see if it's unrankable, albeit there are exceptions like Raise my sword (sotarks) which needed massive retiming since galneryus changed bpms by 1.
      The reason I use elitist is because most of them don't so much as open a map.
      I get not liking a genre, but when the damn website lists them as "anything" or "does like abc" and you dm them to hear "don't like the genre/song" it's like "bruh?".
      I literally was in contact with a guy recently who exclusively maps metal who had said he's lost hope in mapping, before he could push ranked on his sets (and got them ranked), but now said we just lost seemingly the last BN who even liked metal.

    • @addsy3653
      @addsy3653 Рік тому +2

      @inv41idu53rn4m3 you're really fucking delusional if you think map quality has anything to do with osus success.
      Osus success primarily comes from streamers and spectators who play the game casually.
      Maps under 5 stars (over 160 bpm) are nearly always undermapped. Why? To make it accessible. Which by proxy means its not a map true to the rhythm.
      Anyhow, now onto why you're delusional, the majority of maps that get ranked are generic, copy and pasted jump sections, eith "aesthetically pleasing" blankets and such. Which nearly never factor into gameplay, especially past 6 stars.
      I once had a BN tell me "I don't see why you changed spacing on this section it's the same as the bit before it", I sent the MP3 to 3 music majors who all said that BN was full of shit and that the chord progression called for intensity increase (as I represented).
      I say elitist and such cause the BN I'd filled with people who only know rhythm by way of editor, I'm not a music graduate, but I still studied it a fair bit, and if I've got people who dedicated years to music telling me my spacing represents the rhythm, vs a BN who says "I can't hear it" who do you thinks right? Several musicians and the original mapper, or 1 random 15 year old appointed a position because he has ranked a few maps before?
      There's also something to be said for why you'll see top level players play a ton of graveyard maps whenever they're not farming.
      The ranking criteria itself is scummy.
      "If a set is under x time, the lowest difficulty must be x"?????? Why? To give new players shit to play? Fuck em there's like 100,000 maps, play those?!
      You know what helped me improve a ton when I was newer? Loving rock/metal and every map for such before 5-7 stars (8 stars were very very rare when I joined).
      So I improved. And even such recently, I returned from a 3 year hiatus and wanted to stream higher bpms, so whereas my cap was 210, its now 250-270 burst.
      I agree anime openings should require full sets for the record, 30-120 second songs yes.
      But a 3 and a half monute song should require 1 difficulty, MAYBE 2.

    • @l.c.431
      @l.c.431 Рік тому

      @@addsy3653 finding that a map is unrankable is infinitely easier than making sure it doesn't have any rankability issues. sure if you open a map and 10 seconds in you find literal 2b gameplay then it's a done deal however, making sure a mapset is rankable goes much beyond mapping quality.
      there's metadata; content policies; guidelines regarding mp3s; guidelines regarding a set's spread; verification of proper hitsound usage and in case the mapper uses custom hitsounds, the need for each individual hitsound sample to fit the rules put in place; timing issues; skinning elements; background usage; making sure the song has not been dmca'd recently and god forbid the mapper does any keysounding or sbing because that effectively triples the time needed to make sure a map is objectively rankable or not.
      what *you're* failing to see is that upholding the ranking criterias even disregarding guidelines takes a lot more effort than "2 watch-throughs of a song".
      yes, it sucks that genres get glossed over because they're not a bn's prefered genre but; forcing bns (who may I remind you are all volunteers) to have to work on sets they are not interested in will only result in them getting discouraged/disinterested which in turn means less maps getting into ranked.

      Many people wont like change, and lazer is quite different from stable.
      From not being able to fully skin things (yet), editor is different, and the overall experience. I'm 6 digit, and didn't really play till august last year, and I switched to stable this year when PP was ranked, and I love it. I cannot go back to stable, I like lazer way more.
      I do miss the skins affecting song select and end result screens though, it doesn't work in lazer.

    One of the biggest changes I feel needs to happen is to remove combo from the pp algorithm entirely (kinda like the other modes in a sense).
    If I miss an easy note in the middle of a song, and SS the ENTIRE map other than that 1 note, on say a 410 pp SS map, why is it worth 180pp?
    Combo is already far more weighted for score in score v2 and DRASTICALLY in score v1.
    I've seen really dumb arguments that it's force people to make bad habits and bla bla bla, that's an outright lie, the opposite is true.
    Right now most people will take a 96% accuracy fc over a 1 miss 99.9% play.
    By making accuracy 100% of pp calculation, you essentially force people to exclusively aim for accuracy improvement, which by extension will make people more likely to aim for fc's.
    I remember like 6 years ago, I would get nervous on an fc and intentionally overstream by like 3 bpm to make sure I hit that 1 stream in the song before the end since tanking that 1 or 2% acc, was worth the fc, vs risking it normally. Now I'm capable of SS'ing those maps sure, but it's cause I chose to work on acc.
    I just feel by focusing pp entirely on accuracy, you'll make people care more about "clicking the circles to the beat", vs "I must hit every single note regardless of acc or the pp is just GONE".
    Anyone who opposes this: In score v2 70% is combo, 30% acc.
    At the BARE MINIMUM reverse it for pp? 70% acc, 30% combo?
    The only people I've seen disagree with this take tend to rank in the 6 digits or low 5 digits, you're entitled to your own views, but going against legitimately good changes is stupid.

Gameplay UI, even after some extra updates, is still a lil rough, but a lot of stuff has redesigns planned anyways cause mismatch of design philosophies and whatever.

      @@squiddu It's a combination of a lot of small things which come together to make it unintuitive and uncomfortable to navigate through in the song selection and main menu, kind of inconsistant looking too on top of it and with a lot less space in song select than in stable. It ranges from stuff like the confusing leaderboards and the mod selection being clunky with its sidescroll, 40 different mods and a seperate window for specifying mod variables, to small things like having a literal chain as an icon for combo, which makes perfect sense if you think about it but when you just look at it it's like "wtf is that... ohhh right" or the main menu buttons awkwardly changing in size/position when you interact with them. Can definitely figure it all out and get used to it like to anything in life, but it's still bad imo
