Cameron did an outstanding job on Motörhead. They never sounded this good before. He had the chops to do it and kicked the band in the ass in the best possible and most professional way. Thanks for this episode🙏
Wow what a great lesson. Two things stand out to me: 1. He was not afraid to stand up to Motorhead. 2. He respect the hearing differences and found a way to work around it.
Wow. This is amazing. It always intrigues and amazes me to learn the tricks and trades that my idols are using, or have used. Thank you, Warren! Rest In Peace, Lemmy.
Hi Jade, thanks very much! Agreed it's wonderful to hear how these great albums were made! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Hi Friends, I am so excited that Cameron Webb and Motörhead agreed to do this amazing course with us!! Cameron did a full tutorial with an over 3 hour breakdown of the song with stories on the Production of the album and much more! Plus you get ALL of the files! So you mix the whole song and solo every instrument! Please check it out here:- pmaproducts.net/mixing-motoerhead-with-cameron-webb/
Thanks IWant Appledumplings!! I really appreciate it! Yes, Cameron is the man! So wonderful to have him take us through the recording and mixing process of Motörhead! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
If Cameron Webb at been born in the 50s, he would be a legend. Not saying he isnt now, things are just different. Mr. Webb, can we hear a full blown mix with the Ampeg? Is it available anywhere?
Hi Eric, thanks very much!! It's an amazing story of how to create an amazing Bass tone!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Yeah mate! Been writing and recording for Arrested Development's new album. Gonna be mixing that soon as well. And it's the hip hop group not the TV show! ;-) Cheers! \m/
I use Hawkwind's Space Ritual as one of my references. Lemmy drives it but he's playing lead an octave down. It's an object lesson in Everything You Know Is Wrong because it sounds so good, but for all the wrong reasons! He was one of the great bass innovators, especially when you appreciate that he was just trying to be as good as Little Richard.
Warren. Apart from all the great recording techniques your videos contain, the studio tours and engineer interviews really make your channel amazing. More stuff on old recording stories and engineers etc would be awesome
Hi, thanks for the great opportunity to mix a Motörhead song! Wow. I have learned so much from it. Cameron does such a good job in explaining his philosophy behind the process, and the background stories are very entertaining! For a guy like me it is very important to know that its not a bazillion of plug ins that make a great mix. The only thing that would top this series would be the same thing with a NOFX song. It would be totaly amazing. Keep up the great work. Cheers Sebastian
Hi Pe ter, of course! It's a full mix breakdown tutorial of the song 'Electricity' from their last Album 'Bad Magic'. Cameron Webb talks us through the song, the mix and how it was recoded. Plus you get ALL of the files!! Here's the link:- pmaproducts.net/mixing-motoerhead-with-cameron-webb/
Cheers Warren. Going to buy the tutorial and get the tracks - what an interesting offer. Personally, I don't like Cameron's mix: the snare sounds just like every other bloody metal track using SSD4/Trigger, toms fill is lost, the stereo effect on the vocal sounds disconnected from the music, the guitars have no mid range bite/definition, the reverb on the solo doesn't match the rest of the track, the mid range of Lemmy's bass is almost totally missing, and the mastering compression/limiting makes the overall track sound pretty flat.
Hi Richard, thanks for the comment! That's why we all hear things differently and you get the opportunity to mix the music for yourself! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Thats to bad. Lemmy Loved the mix. Yes there are samples very quietly in there (not slate) but that is the real snare and kick. Mikkey Dee sounds like a machine. Check out the raw tracks and you will see. Vocal was a choice to let this song be different and less stock, more messy. We did what we felt was best at the time
Hi Cameron, I came back to Motörhead because the albums you made with them! That rawness Lemmy had was the essential to the bands sound and you captured it! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Thats one of the coolest story i've ever heard. I love that guy lol you do have to play the psychologist to get performances out of them. So he rolled the Bass off boosted the mid & cut the treble… thats brilliant ! If you know where Motorhead is coming from tho you couldn't do that w/a Vox eq & get the same result as Lemmy's 200Watt Marshall w/a 4x15 Cab lol. Brutal player & some more of a song writer outside of Motorhead. Lemmy put Oz back back in the game & got Paid unlike Bob Daisley Lemmy penned a few of those hits on No more Tears.
Agreed 100%! The little kid inside of me was freaking out with every story that Cameron told!! Happy New Year! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
He was a true poet. He loved writing. Most songs on the records he would go thought 3 re writes and sometimes totally redo songs. He was extremely clever with his words. In a arguement he could talk the best in circles.
Thanks Lasse! Glad you enjoyed the video! Yes Cameron is a class act and Motorhead rule! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
You're most welcome Tiege! I'm a huge fan and Cameron is a great guy, wonderful Producer, Engineer and Mixer! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
This is so Motör`fuckin`awsome! Man - Inferno always was and still ist my favorite Motörhead record since the classic alsbums alà Ace of Spades - so to get this insight of how Cameron Webb did produce this record is just amazing. And Cameron, if you ever read this - I`d just love to have a talk to you one day (I really hope to!) - because you are the producer of one of the greatest f*cking new Motörhead records ever made, period \\m//
Hi Alexis, that's a beautiful point you made! For many of us Lemmy will be here forever! His music is truly timeless! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Hi thehowlingterror, I agree! I love hearing how every Producer has developed their relationship with their artist! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Great stuff man..Tim Bogart got some amazing bass fuzz, been playing my bass through my guitar amp a lot lately.and with a fuzz face and wah its killer just got the hardwired vox and band of gypsy's fuzz sooo killer
Hi Jonathan, thanks for the great comment! Yes, I love Bass overdrive and Lemmy was the master of it! Tim Bogart is also an amazing player! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Produce Like A Pro Yes Lemmy's the man,Rip dude. And Thank you, you do the same. Keep the videos coming man, watched your interviews for like 5 hours yesterday...Hey here's a tip for you man.. not sure if you'll ever make it to Baltimore but you said you are a guitar player. Head over to the North American Amp Museum. I'ts like heaven on earth. I meet the guy because I was rebuilding a silver-face super reverb that was complete rubbish, he double checked my work and chowed me a few things but... The man has hundreds of amps,Fender,Marshall, Ampeg,Hi-watt,Orange, all kinds of stuff. Also had an insane mic collection, vintage RCA ribbons, all kinds of goodies. Would be cool to see you inter view him!
Jonathan Kosyjana thanks for your great comment! Yes Lemmy is the man! His reach is huge! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing many thanks Warren
Hi Nick, thanks very much! Yes, truly blessed in 2 years I've nearly hit 100K! Wow! Yes, Rick Rubin would be lovely to talk to! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Hi Rabi Ben Lavi, that's AMAZING! I broke many strings trying to play as hard as Fast Eddie sounded!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
What song is the bass clip from? Sounds like he stumbles in the beginning Did his bass tech Tim Butcher ever help setting up the studio sound? His sound was always killer live (Like on the Stage Fright dvd) But I heard that they also added a DI signal live for extra clean bottom end on his bass
Why did you have to set up a different amp to get the bottom end? Why not just record a DI signal along with Lemmys amp? From what i heard that's what they did live.
He awesome 👍👍 producer .. He made Motorhead as much better but they didn't need to be BETTER. Been fan since 1980 first concert for me when i was 13 paid $5 for it. I have 6tats of LEMMY KILMISTER MOTORHEAD NAME ON RIGHT SIDE OF MY FOREARM left and SNAGGLETOOTH UNDER MY NECK REST EASY LEMMY KILMISTER MOTORHEAD 😢😢 If i work With Lemmy could never go against him. He perfection to me. MISS HIM SO MUCH
How did he hustle the job to produce Motorhead ? a band that by then was close to 25 years old - had a number #1 live album - an all time classic in Ace of Spades - he admits to NOT knowing their records - decides he knows Lemmys sound better than Lemmy - insists on adding his own Bass amp into the mix, DESPITE repeated requests not to. I haven’t enjoyed the production sound of Motorhead in 25 years. I think I know why.
Lemmys tone was what he wanted. He loved the grind of the tubes being pushed to 10. It might not be right for everyone and technically the correct bass tone but I think it was inspiring and powerful
Hi Kurt, agreed! It's about getting the best out of the artist! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
I have to make the band happy and the fans

"Lemmy, that's why I chose to do what I did". Even in death, you still have to explain yourself lol. Lemmy was such a boss.
Hi Broseidon of The Brocean agreed!! Lemmy was a badass! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing many thanks Warren
If Cameron Webb at been born in the 50s, he would be a legend. Not saying he isnt now, things are just different. Mr. Webb, can we hear a full blown mix with the Ampeg? Is it available anywhere?

Exactly Richard!! Instantly recognisable! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Cheers Warren. Going to buy the tutorial and get the tracks - what an interesting offer. Inferno is incredible! This video was amazing I agree. I could listen to him talk about the making of each album.
Was this done after Lemmy's passing? If so, in many instances he's talking as he was still alive. Very touching. Thanks for this video!
Hi Alexis, that's a beautiful point you made! For many of us Lemmy will be here forever! His music is truly timeless! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

Another fantastic video, Warren! Hope you could pop in for a chat with Rick Rubin, oh... and almost 100k subscribers :D
Hi Nick, thanks very much! Yes, truly blessed in 2 years I've nearly hit 100K! Wow! Yes, Rick Rubin would be lovely to talk to! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
I saved for months to buy some Zildjian hi hats when I was a kid and was playing along to Over the Top and the hats cracked and inverted.
Hi Rabi Ben Lavi, that's AMAZING! I broke many strings trying to play as hard as Fast Eddie sounded!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
What song is the bass clip from? Sounds like he stumbles in the beginning
Did his bass tech Tim Butcher ever help setting up the studio sound? His sound was always killer live (Like on the Stage Fright dvd) But I heard that they also added a DI signal live for extra clean bottom end on his bass
Electricity.
Why didn't you just record a direct signal along with his amp sound and use it later for re-amping?
Why did you have to set up a different amp to get the bottom end? Why not just record a DI signal along with Lemmys amp? From what i heard that's what they did live.
Hey warren. Have you tried the LA2A legacy that comes with the UAD Apollo Twin? If so what are your thoughts? Can you PLEASE do a video on the twin?
Hi D Bo, I haven't yet! But thanks for the great suggestion! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
song name in the begining?
Electricity or smiling like a killer
Both got the same riff

Hi Phil, I know!! Amazing insight!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Fuckin brilliant
Wikipedia says the band hated the mix on Inferno, so...
I usually avoid working with difficult artists. It's sometimes just not worth the frustration. Maybe if they're famous, it'd be a different story.
I guess you just really have to love that sound... or don't lol
me neither, BUT this is what motorhead is all about i guess..the rawness :)
... or they are still stuck in the 70`s...hehe
Haha and I LOVE it No Filler Words Productions! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Well I love it bob frode! Lemmy's tone was the sound of the band! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Lemmys tone was what he wanted. He loved the grind of the tubes being pushed to 10. It might not be right for everyone and technically the correct bass tone but I think it was inspiring and powerful
Inferno was the first good sounding Motörhead record, well the second, Bastards wasn`t that bad either, but not as good.
I thought most of them sounded good...but Bastards, Overnight Sensation and Another Perfect Day had the best sounds outside of the Webb records.
Great record, dynamic range is disgusting, but a great record.
What a mess. Soundguy who realizes 12 years after the session what artist wants. Sorry but this sounds line something you should keep to yourself.
