- Hi Teacher Friends!! I recently bought a TON of books from my local used bookstore and the Goodwill so I thought it would be fun to do a little haul of these amazing finds!! I l got all of these books for less than a dollar each- what a deal! It's amazing what you can find at the thrift store!

I love Fancy Nancy books, and several of the other ones that you bought! I did a whole unit on Frog and Toad, and posted a video on some ideas regarding it. The early readers, levels one and two are perfect for the different reading levels you will have! Great haul. 👍

YES! I'm telling you the thrift stores have the most amazing finds and deals! It takes time to go through them all but it is ALWAYS worth it 😊

I’m going to school for elementary education. I was wondering if you use those little readers for small group or what they are used for?
Hi Abby, thanks so much for watching!! Amazing question! 😊 At my student teaching school (and most schools from what I know) have sets of leveled books that you will use for small group reading instruction. I want to have several easy readers & various leveled books that students can use for independent reading. In small groups you will teach students at their instructional reading level, so you can facilitate their learning! However it is important they read at their independent level to practice and build fluency without being frustrated by complex text- words & syntax.
Golden State Educate So as they read do you just facilitate running readers or what?
For small groups I plan to differentiate them by group according to level for instructional purposes. We do beginning of the year assessments with running records to determine their level. Then if they are looking for a book to read during our independent reading time or if I want them to take a book home to practice, I'll have a good selection of books I can have them pick from at their level. Hopefully that answers your question!
