  • Join Dustin as he and Aria set up the new Amplified Nation Steel String Singer Amplifier into the rig.
Welcome to this week's episode of What's This Button Do hosted by Dustin Babitzke! This week Aria and Dustin finally find the perfect amp to complete the wet dry wet rig in an Amplified Nation Steel String Singer.
Taylor from Amplified Nation has reverse engineered Eric Johnson's personal Dumble Steel String Singer to help design this amazing amplifier. Dustin thought he was going to be adding the Amplified Nation Overdrive Reverb to his rig but when he went to pick it up his ears changed his mind. Find out why in this weeks episode!

    Wow!
Good for you for getting one.
Definitely not in my price range but my tone smokes. Dumbles are bad ass though.

What about the Two Rocks you have on the room?? There's lot of ppl that seems to prefer the Amplified Nation over the TR, but dont see the popular pro guitarrists using them. I'd like to try them all but not possible in my country...

I actually love both brands. The Two Rock SSS and Amplified nation are super close to each other. But Amp Nations overdrive reverb is super unique. I find Two Rocks take pedals amazingly well where the Amplified Nation imparts a little of its own voice.

Any perspective as to what exactly the filter controls do? Seems to me they not only changed the eq but also the feel and saturation

I have a few guesses and think it’s more than a LP/HP. But I’ll reach out to Taylor and see what details he can share. I’ll get you an update asap.

Thank you my friend. I had to trade a few nice things in to make it happen but man it was so worth it.

Great review. Curious if you ever tried the Two Rock Sterling Silver Signature, which is their take on the Dumble SSS?

I actually have. I was trying to decide between this one and the Two Rock. Both were very similar but since I use the Bloomfield drive and the Landreth as the stereo amps I thought it would be good to have a completely different build to set it apart. But I almost went all Two Rock. They were super close in the room but I had a little something magic with this one that made me fall for it.

I’m looking at buying this or the two rock Joey Landreth that you have. If you had to choose which one would you buy if you could only do one?

Oh man good question, but for me it’s the Landreth. That thing does it all and then some. The learning curve is higher with the Landreth and you have to be prepared to mess with the knobs a bit to dial in your sound but it’s magic once you get it dialed in. The steel string singer is the cleanest sound for pure pedal platform but the Landreth takes pedals and just elevates them. The only drawback is the cost. You could get a SSS and Overdrive Reverb for the cost of one Landreth. But if that’s not a concern I’d go Landreth all day long.

I’m sorry, but any gear review with a chorus on the entire time is utterly useless. It’s impossible to get accurate sense of what the amp sounds like.

Hi my friend. I appreciate your comment but while I do turn on several effects throughout the demo but there was no chorus on that board. During the wet dry wet demo part there will be a natural phasing from the wet dry wet mix but I love the natural movement in the amp itself.
