- The B.O.G Deathgrip tripod allows you to secure a rifle in its rubber jaws for a sturdy rest in the field. I had no issues with it using my Lithgow LA102 in 308 Winchester. For anyone looking for a shooting rest, this may just be what you're looking for.
Just purchased my BOG, and I thought I'd made a big mistake, so I hunted down your review. Thanks, it got me appreciating the tripod, and now it's as good as sliced bread.
When mine arrived in the mail, I was impressed with the build quality.
Only negative was the swivel function wouldn't work.
So, I went looking for a solution, and I found it on a UK Airgun forum.
It involved removing a rubber grommet and using an Allen key to loosen the tension screw - problem solved.
I have owned my Bogpod for well over a year. I have been very happy with it. I would definitely buy another one. I use mine for fox shooting. It allows a good steady rest out in the field.
Does it extend out long enough for a tall person say 6+foot too stand up and shoot without hunching?
@@bearfootbowhunter3054 Ozzie said in his review he is 6'5" and looked like it was tall enough for him.
@@nwil804 dam hes taller than he looks. thanks mate
I shoot with these using a camping chair. They are great for zeroing and target shooting because you don’t have to setup a bench. They’re a really stable shooting platform from my experience.
I've just started using mine at the range. I'm getting ready to try it out in the field soon. I've been impressed with it so far
I have had mine for years. I have the camouflage aluminum version. It is a very good product. I use it for zeroing all my long guns. Rifles and shotguns. It is super easy to set up and use. It's great for LRP shots as well. It's definitely something that you can use over and over.
These are great for the money. Use mine a ton for piggin out west n never had an issue and surprised the cattle dust doesn't effect it at all. Great videos mate. Love the work 💯
Thanks for sharing, a really nice rest it seems.
Been looking forward to seeing this in action
Just found your channel ,, awsome review ✌
I have one in the camo. Love it. Very versatile. I would definitely recommend.
I have one and it works beautifully for me. Would recommend using one.
Thank you for the thoughtful review.
This is a good tool for the recreational shooter or the hunter. It’s great for shooting heavier guns standing. This stand is also good for young or disabled shooters. I haven’t tried it’s prone stance yet but standing it’s good. Can it double or triple the distance you could shoot unsupported? yes, but it won’t be as accurate as a bench. My advice buy it, practice with a rimfire the more you play with it the better you will get.
I would think VERY seriously before buying one of these BOG DeathGrip tripods. Many forums complain about the leg clamps (6) breaking. They are made of pot metal and are NOT quality. Adding insult to injury.... BOG Customer "Support" will not even SELL you replacement part after the 1 year warranty expires. Which means that if your DeathGrip sits in your closet all year and breaks your first trip to the field..... YOU'RE FU*KED. So again..... think long and hard BEFORE you purchase from BOG. OH...BTW, the ONLY solution BOG offered me was to offer a discount on another DeathGrip. I told BOG Customer "Support" to....... well you can guess.
Have used 1 for 4 years love it
Just ordered one on Amazon, $229.27 Canadian. Seem to have good reviews, and just what I need for an indoor range.
I've shot foxes out to 250m off my bog , the only thing I'd like to see improved is the tightening screw for the up and down and it would be so much better if it had a ball joint, having to get the tripod level in a hurry is a pain in the arse and caused me to miss a few opportunities!
Great video BTW....cheers from America 🇺🇸
I'm pretty happy with mine use it mainly to sight in big calibre rifles
It would be good to see a comparison between using the tripos v shooting off a rest on a bench to see if any significant difference in group size and placement
ua-cam.com/video/1aEmtA-hm-4/v-deo.html here's a video!
I use it at night with the thermal, light enough to carry around and with practice it's nearly as good as a bench
Great 👍 view..
I got one and it's OK but it would be better with a ball head. And the rifle saddle weights a ton.
I agree mate. Also seen a couple problems with the ball head as an option but haven't gotten around to getting one for this tripod.
I agree. But for the price it serves the majority of shooters quite well. But its short comings can really be seen when compared to something like the really right stuff tripod w/ ball head
@@chevyon37s agreed. Its was good enough for my light weight hunting guns but not much chop with my PRS rifle, it couldn't hold the weight unless it was in perfect balance. My cheap ebay ball head can hold my heaviest rifle at almost the tip of the arca rail but it flexes really badly lol.
Anyone who says a bog is good has never used a real tripod.
I thought Ozzies were limited to slingshots and bows and arrows. How’d you get that .308? Or did you move to the US?
Very good mate thanks
Excellent product, I own one.
I love the idea.. and I want one... but and it pains me to say... it's not tall enough... why do you have to stoop over to take a shot.. that simple and basic design flaw pisses me off... was it designed by shooter?
Sorry, but at that price, I stay with a forked stick. They have served me well over the years.
Will you buy it Ozzie?
Costs them 15 bucks to make in china.. think I'm kidding?
More like US $10.00
Be $1000 if made in Auatralia
too bad it's made in china
