Glad you were able to get him eating! Some do tend to be more picky when it comes to what they eat and will exclusively only eat appropriately sized flies and not much else. My past female would eat the flies straight from the pupa, my two current males will not. I would say tho, they are opportunistic feeders and some will over eat, which is dangerous as their bloated abdomen has a risk of rupture. Especially if they fall or anything. There’s a really good graphic which you can probably Google that shows a scale of JS weight and what a healthy spider should look like, which might be helpful. :)
I also wondered if they can be overfed so I gave it a Google and read a few things, they can! It's actually a common issue among new keepers. :)) Thank you for making your videos they truly are so informative and fun
I’ve literally watched every single one of your videos and was always afraid of spiders but these little guys are adorable!! I’ve just ordered my first little one and even ordered of your Etsy 😁 so excited.
SO adorable! I'm hoping to get one in the Spring. Happy Bertie had a good feed! I know tarantulas wont eat when they're in pre moult so maybe it was a combo of shipping stress, a new environment and pre-moult? 🙏🏼 whatever he needs, you will be the best mama for him, we know! 🧡
I have one of your feeding ledges and my girl also comes out and hangs around near the ledge when she’s hungry! 😂 I thought maybe it was coincidence she tends to go and hang out there when it’s getting close to feeding times but maybe not! Your spoods are adorable, going to try these tips with my little male as he’s looking a bit too far on the skinny side too. Thanks for the vid! 😊
Awww, are we accidentally training our spiders? They do seem pretty smart to be fair. Thanks for buying a feeding ledge :). I have found blue bottle flies/castor flies are a big favourite for bertie :)
my spider just molted idk when i can feed her next but she is suppppper skinny i dont wanna wait too long but i also dont want to feed her too soon she molted yesterday (monday)
Love your videos I’ve just ordered my first Jumping Spider after seeing your videos! Also ordered the LED Lamp you recommended the the Death Star hide is too cute I couldn’t resist ordering one from your website too can’t wait for it all to arrive. Just got to name the little fella 😂😂
We (my girlfriend and I) just got 2 boy jumping spiders. No issue so far with mine eating but hers seems that it's gone into molting. So we'll see how he does afterwards. Love your channel. So much of your info has helped us with our Leo's so looking forward to what you learn and share on jumping spiders. Keep it up!
Yea I had that with my guy, he was an amazing spider tho, passed away of old age a few months back, still miss him, but he refused food most of the time.
Females can change color with molts, sometimes subtle sometimes dramatic. I think males do a little but I don't see big changes. I would say if your girl seems still hungry but is plump, give them smaller prey. Some can kinda overeat. I generally give them a drop of water from an eyedropper before feeding.
Dear Bertie, Please eat something. I got invested in your well beeing. If you get sick, I have to explain to people why I am sad over the eating habits of a spider on UA-cam. Don't do this to me. Love Crazy Person
My female jumping spider just came out of a molt two days ago and is skinny and fumbling around and im very concerned that something went wrong during her molt. Im just giving her good amount of water and will try feeding her but im scared. Has anyone had spider come out of a molt and just fall all over the place? Its very weird
Now I need to know how to get mine to "lose weight" haha. They can definitely over-eat. Mine is obese so I haven't fed her in 3 weeks. I wonder how much longer I'll have to wait for her to thin out a bit...
Mine hasn't eaten anything in weeks and he is super skinny. His abdomen is almost paper thin. He won't touch anything I put in and I can't get the fly castors to hatch (he usually eats those)
They can overeat, if her abdomen is much bigger than her head, it's dangerous, it can cause abdomen separation, which I've seen and is devastating. Also if they fall while too full, it's like dropping a water balloon. Not saying this in a nasty way but please be careful
Quite a bit as I also purchased a large tank for him to move into, I think it was £10 shipping. I think if you bought a spider on their own its not as expensive.
please put your words to paper before you tell a story. you come across very chaotic and that combined with the shaking and fumbleing with the camera makes this a very nausiating video to watch. thanks,

Yeah I think I have opposite ends of the spectrum with my spiders, Betty will eat anything and everything and bertie is picky lol.
They're not opportunistic eaters.. they like to hunt their prey much different than a tarantula or other arachnid

OMG that's the cutest spider I ever see 🥺
thanks 😊
I have new jumpers too. I saw on another channel that they need light so they will hunt. It worked for mine.

This was useful! I'm gonna see if I can get Franklin to eat.

Aww sweet :) yeah maybe its just a bertie thing. Since I've gotten blue bottle flies he seems a lot happier lol
@@leopardgeckotalk that's great news 😊
They are so cool keep doing updates
This is so cute! Boy spoods just don't want to eat most of the time. You're a great 'mum'.
Yea I had that with my guy, he was an amazing spider tho, passed away of old age a few months back, still miss him, but he refused food most of the time.
I was told that males are much more finicky when it comes to food, and are harder to get to eat, generally.
Love these spider videos. 😍
Thank you :D
Awesome video!
Just ordered my first from spoodernest and ordered some accessories from you can’t wait 😊
Aww thanks so much!! :)
Its too cute. It actually is, I never thought I'd say that, but its true.
ikr 🥰 I always said I wouldn't get pet spiders, but then I discovered jumping spiders 🙈
I’m literally dealing with this right now. My juvenile JS won’t eat. I’m trying with crickets now.
Thank you for the update. 😁👍🏻 They are just so cool.😎
No problem :D Glad you like them!
wait lay eggs? Like fertile or how does thaf work
The jumping spiders are actually cute :]
ikr 🥰

You absolutely can overfeed a jumping spider and it can kill them so be careful!!
You definitely can overfeed your jumping spider! And it can be bad for them so please be careful :)

😂😂 I'm glad to say he's doing well, I'll do a YT short update of him soon :)
Do you load bluebottle flies?
If so, how?

How dare UA-cam not notify me immediately? I'm days late! Better late than never I suppose...

she is so cute :)

@@leopardgeckotalk i might get a Jumping Spider now
Betty looks like Micro!(my spider) also they have same picky situation
Also pls help me with the picky situation
rooting for Bertie
thanks! :D
I'm having the same problem with my red back jumper, he's doesn't eat consistently 🙃
they just love to worry us lol. the castor flies/blue bottles have been a massive hit though :)
Mine hasn't eaten anything in weeks and he is super skinny. His abdomen is almost paper thin. He won't touch anything I put in and I can't get the fly castors to hatch (he usually eats those)
I put my castors near the radiator and it sped up their hatching 😊
Do you still recommend the eco earth or earth mix arid for leapord gecko tank setups ??
I much prefer EarthMix Arid now :)
What molt is Betty on? My female regal jumper is on her 10th and final molt and hasn’t layer eggs yet
I'm not sure to be honest with you, I think she's moulted 4 times with me now.
How often does she eat because mines fully grown and only eats a mealworm like every 2 and a half weeks
They can overeat, if her abdomen is much bigger than her head, it's dangerous, it can cause abdomen separation, which I've seen and is devastating. Also if they fall while too full, it's like dropping a water balloon. Not saying this in a nasty way but please be careful
My spider being the same must be that make of male breed spider hope mine eats soon 🙏🏻
I wonder if its the time of the year, as it has suddenly got quite cold here.
How long do they live?
i want to know it too
My tarantulas live up to 25y
Around a year
1-2 years, it can be as much as 3 but rarely.
How much did they cost with shipping?
Quite a bit as I also purchased a large tank for him to move into, I think it was £10 shipping. I think if you bought a spider on their own its not as expensive.
how do you know he is a male?
does anyone know any good leopard gecko breeders in england?
Yes Leopard Geckos London, I did an interview with her a few months back, she's really good :)
Feeding it duh duh
he wont be as fat as she is
so its normal for males, dont stess about it)
Okay cool cool, betty is a curvy lady
