it’s the religious trauma for me!
Felt that👁💧👄💧👁
Thats exactly what I thought of when I heard this song ;-; I hate religious trauma
what’s religious trauma? i’m honestly asking
@@strawberryeggs820 trauma from a religion (ex: hating Christians because of having bad experience with them)
@@strawberryeggs820 It's just any sort of trauma caused by religion, it could be the practices what it teaches, the people, etc.
Most underrated Mother Mother song

@@bettercupisdumb9276 Just out of curiosity, random stranger, which series did you think was the best? I think "Dawn of the Clans," and "Power of Three" were of the highest quality. I know that "Omen of the Stars" follows the same storyline that "Power of Three" did, but I felt like it didn't really conclude well, and that it dismantled a lot of stuff with how the world building was set up- not in a good way. Also Dovewing. I'm sorry, I just don't care for her too much, she's bland. Also, take a swing at who my favorite character is.
@@supremeoverlord0 I think i share the same opinion as you, I haven't read them in a while so i don't remember some things but I do remember really liking Hollyleaf and her siblings. My favorite characters over all (from what i remember) were Yellowfang, Bluestar, & Hollyleaf. I'll have to re-read them later and I'll probably update you if my mind changes later. But honestly from the last time I read the books I don't think I liked the plot line of Ivypool and Dovewing, idk it just wasn't that great to me.
@@bettercupisdumb9276 Oh, I loved Yellowfang! I'm mixed about Bluestar, and Hollyleaf was okay as an individual, but I love the dynamic she created with her philosophies as she clashed with her siblings and clan. My favorites overall would have to be Grey Wing and Jayfeather. I used to like Leafpool a lot, but she kind of fell apart for me in the latter parts of the second series.
OK, but I *really* like Grey Wing. "Dawn of the Clans" as a whole was just really good and emotional. I know it's silly, but I cried a little at the end of the series.
I physically cant escape Mother Mother. Every playlist on youtube has a new Mother Mother song for me.

Who gave this song permission to hit so hardddddd?
That's entirely why i was driven to make a lyric video for it!
@@Wulfydragon Haha XD
Harder than my step dad, that's saying a lot
for me, this song is about an abuse victim trying to find comfort now that they're finally out of their situation. like, they know theyre not there anymore, but it's still hard to adapt. they've had to fight to survive their entire life, and now that surviving is a peaceful thing and they're surrounded by loving people, they can't comprehend it as easily. i think the "little pistol" represents the subconcious defences and barriers they keep, even though they have nothing to defend themselves from anymore. i believe they gradually accept that they're safe now, but it's a journey. i think the "i want what's best for me" is about still being defensive and cautious. they're unable to let go of the scared and angry thoughts even though there's nothing to direct them at anymore.
this hits real hard and i absolutely agree

can someone explain this song?
mother mother always have double meanings behind their songs, its basically up to you and whatever the song means to you :)
@@lellehxprichx6575 yeah all have backstories
I'm gonna preface this comment with what the other two said- music is made to be interpreted!
That said, here's *my* interpretation for the song, it doesn't reflect upon yours whatsoever.
Generally, I consider this song to be about fear and paranoia. The singer seems to be implied to have suffered from trauma of some sort. They feel helpless, and that throughout it all, the people around them did nothing to help them when they needed it ("The women, all they do is cry"). Maybe contributing to their trauma in some way, or perhaps not, the singer even tried to find solace in Christianity, but it didn't help them at all with their struggles ("I found Jesus, what a liar"). That's why there is "brimstone" in their garden, and the 'roses' are on fire. A garden typically reflects ones inner self, and flower language is used often for imagery purposes. The roses on fire could mean they can't see love as a possibility in their life anymore. Brimstone is the archaic word for sulfur, meaning "burning stone." The word is often used in another phrase with religious/Christian connotations, 'fire and brimstone,' having to do with God and his fury, judgement, and eternal damnation in hell. The religious connotation ties in with finding Jesus to be a liar, perhaps referring to his promise of redemption. This implies that the singer sees no forgiveness, relief, or redemption, likely mainly for themselves, and perhaps their worldview. The only think they are capable of receiving and giving judgement and pain.
As a result, to avoid being hurt further, the singer is trying to distance themselves from anyone else in their life. With their garden burning, they hope it will be enough to keep others away from them, and with their "little pistol," they display a desperate attempt of scaring people away from them- like a quivering, scared animal.
The ending could be interpreted one of two ways, from my perspective.
And I, well I found what's best for me
And now I see no tragedy
And I, I found a burning rose
And now I won't be packing little pistols
No, no, no more
On one hand, the "I found what's best for me" and "and now I see no tragedy," could be interpreted as the singer catering to their destructive behaviors, thinking that their violent solitude will truly keep them safe from the hurt life has to offer, and so now they don't have to pack "little pistols," because they've fully distanced themselves from the source of any pain in their life. Perhaps they've given in to their pain completely, and are emotionally vacant, and the "what's best for me," is the prospect of their life ending. Sad stuff.
In the other interpretation, in a more sudden semi-optimistic viewpoint, perhaps, through all of this suffering, the singer was able to find a kindred soul, symbolized in the form of a "burning rose," who has also gone through hurt, just like the burning roses in the singer's own garden (which symbolizes themselves, as I mentioned earlier). Perhaps this meeting has given the singer enough solace to feel as if they don't need to wildly distance themselves as they did before with their "little pistols," because they finally have the understanding that they lacked. This could be the first step forward for them.
