- In year 2000, Taiwan has seen its first West Point cadet in the US; since then only few have been able to be admitted with fewer making it to graduation. The training from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is globally recognized as one of the most stringent. Former alumni include then US President Dwight D. Eisenhower, then American military leader Douglas MacArthur, and then US general George Smith Patton Jr., to name merely a few.
Hu Chia-chi is the second Taiwanese female West Point graduate in Taiwan’s history. In 2022, she graduated and returned to Taiwan, starting her military career in an artillery unit. Taiwan News invites you to listen to her story at West Point, from her upbringing to her four years on campus and all the way to her aspirations of departing military career.
西元2000年，台灣出現首位赴美國西點軍校的學生，至今，台灣僅有少數幾位有資格進入西點軍校，能成功畢業的，又更少；西點軍校有全世界最嚴苛的軍官訓練標準：過往校友包含美國前總統德懷特·艾森豪、美國前軍事領袖道格拉斯·麥克阿瑟與美國前將軍小喬治·史密斯·巴頓等。
