The stitching? 22" rims, what other features does it have? A big screen? Running boards? That is crazy. Rough crowd here Tim. It's a nice truck. I am surprised the i6 is only 3.0 liters. Seems they could have worked off of the legendary 4.0 name and maybe garnered more interest, even if the engine had nothing in common with the old Jeep of yesteryear. the i6 is perfectly balanced by design. Should be very smooth. I will take the i6 over a v6 any day. I am disappointed in the payload, seems awfully low. I would like to see what other models offer for payload. Can't wait to see how it performs. Personally, I am stuck with my old trucks due to the high cost associated with these beautiful trucks, regardless of make. I picked up a 2011 f150 5.0 4x4 xlt for $5500 several months ago. We live a wonderful age where all of the trucks are very good looking and performing. If I had the funds, I would find it difficult to pick a truck. Best of luck to you on this rig.

The goal of the new 3.0 inline six is fuel economy. The preliminary ratings don't show much improvement in mpg. There will probably be a hybrid version in the future. Either that or an aluminum body, carbon fiber hood etc. The costs will shoot through the roof unless the CAFE mandate is lowered

@@panafricanmarxist7632 I can't really speak for the eurocuck trucks, but I do know Scania, which isn't sold in the US, has their V8s that all of us truckers here in the US are begging for them to bring their trucks to the american market. But outside of Scania, I don't actually know of any other truck manufacturer that even has a V8 option in any of their trucks. Every single semi truck in the north american market is an inline 6 turbo.
I've been really excited for a manufacturer to finally put an i6 turbo gasser in a pick up truck. But yea, people are probably correct in assuming that these Hurricane engines are going to be unreliable junk. If they aren't, then absolutely everything AROUND the engine is going to be junk at least, in classic RAM fashion. I'd still love to get one to see how well it holds up overtime.

Pricing by adding the Hemi is $2,495 upgrade to get the Hemi vs just the 6.
They had these engines in the Jeep Wagoneer models for over 1 year and mpg is the same as the Hemi it replaces..the base 3.0 moves like the 5.7 Hemi and obviously the High Output version is quicker than the 5.7...But in the Grand Wagoneer the 6.4 Hemi has better 5-60 and passing power than the 510 h.o version in the Jeep..YES the RAM 3.0 h.o has more power than the Jeeps.
We raced these Jeeps 3.0 turbo 6 vs Hemi 5.7 and 6.4
Thing is RAM screwed the pooch, they could have improved the V8 to ensure it passes emissions...It isnt only about 0-60 and 1/4 mile.. The Turbo 6 is a complex engine and down the road they will be too costly to repair...The 5.7 is comparable to the non H.O 6 cyl,I am sure a little tlc the 5.7 could boost the same hp/torque as the 3.0...I rebuilt a 2014 5.7 and it was just a cam and little head work and it dyno'd 506 hp and about 95 more torque than stock.
I am a V8 guy,I always had a V8 also owned lots of Chrysler/Dodge Turbo 4 cyl cars but to relax a rumble of the V8 is what I need..The 5.7 Hemi peels out easily enough and seriously you cant drive like that and keep a license...Trust me I know at 16 I owned a 383 Cuda that ran 12.70's with 225/70/15 tires that had zero traction for the first 100 feet..It was a 11 second car with slicks of the day that still left 30 feet of rubber...I lost my license twice in that car..My Dad who was 50's at the time also got 2 speeding tickets and one for lighting the whole block in smoke from a 30 mph roll lol..
Anyways,RAM should have offered the HEMI for people who want them the b.s doesnt pass emissions or we pay a huge fine is nonsense, their hybrids and new 6 shooters would offset the cost...They will lose lots of loyal buyers..I will only buy a V8,dont care if a 6 is quicker..I do NOT care!!! You cant race on public streets! Even so the 5.7 has enough kick for most and the sound puts a smile on my face! Driving the 6 would make me a road raging sob as I like to hear the nice sound and the non complexity of two turbo's and a strange engine set up that is a nightmare when it fails..
Sorry for the novel,I just got back into town and slept 2 hours in 34 hours..Grammar/punctuation well, its gone with my lack of sleep..

    • @Pickuptrucktalk
      @Pickuptrucktalk  5 місяців тому +1

@@stingrayl82 GM and Ford sell EVs and use those credits to offset emissions from V8 engines. They also offer, and are pushing, the smaller turbocharged engines and hybrids.
For example, the 2024 Ford F-150 has doubled the amount of hybrid powertrains available.
GM has offered the 3.0L Duramax diesel throughout their lineup of trucks and SUVs as well as made it cheaper than the 6.2L gas engines in higher trims to get customers to buy it. They also are pushing the 2.7L turbocharged engine.
And GM just announced they are working on plug-in hybrid versions of the Silverado and Sierra. You can bet that will eat into V8 sales as well.
Ram, aka Stellantis, doesn't really sell EVs in volume and they are also working on a PHEV version of the 1500.
They also killed the Hemi throughout their lineup pushing people into either 4xe hybrids or small displacement turbos.
It isn't that one brand can do it while others can't, it is a big picture look at their entire business.
Keep in mind Stellantis has been paying EPA fines for years and years. They are working on stopping paying those fines first and foremost.

2 concerns I have for Stellantis . 1) 90K for a regular truck, IS insane. Most people love options in a truck, I get that, but close to 100K? How many will order them, which are not business owners? 2) I am really not sure about the new V-6 X 2 Turbos engine. This engine will work very hard/harder then the Old style HEMI. What will be the outcome as they are aging? The maintenance cost, wear and tare? As you pick up speed, you do hear the engine screaming a bit. Its not the V-8 anymore. That bugs me a bit. Expensive and time consuming to get replaced, the only viable option when that happens is for a few bucks grab some leather glue and a syringe and inject it under the leather and spread it around to get it to stick. I did that, it doesn't make it perfect but looks a lot better than a bubbling dash. For a $90K truck which is insane.... Ford does have the lead in terms of real world testing with turbo 6 cylinder engines. I'm glad that Ram went in for the inline 6 rather than V6 because inline gives better torque and power and is better balanced. Also it would be easy since FCA engineers will definitely know the inline 6 from the old AMC/Jeep inline 6s from back in the day and those engines were reliable beasts (NA).
