amazing drone shots... but sorry about the brutal honesty towards the end... i was going to cut it out... but i thought it was a reality of the tour... so i left it in.
Matt I've been watching you for nearly 2 years, i enjoy waiting for your uploads but this is my first comment, i have to say....those drone shots are beautiful, they are amazing. The videos with your dad taught me so much about life and how to deal with things like that. Also you teach me how to be positive and how to see life as a blessing. Never stop being you, we all admire you, you are a special man. Your trip is different and unique but for me your channel is about you giving people a boost and showing them that anything is possible. PS more burger reviews please :)
What a contrast between the placidly tropical seascapes of the beginning - full of sun and inviting waves - followed by all that wind and rain! I won't say: When it rains it pours! But I am thinking it! I hope you feel better SOON! JaYoe!
Amazing effort Matt. That had to be a hard, hard ride. I know what those emergency nature calls are like :-( Will pray for your recovery, for good health and energy. Blessings.
Matt, your honesty is refreshing. I had one hell of a laugh at it. The way you brought it in, "Oh, by the way, no biggie." It let me feel human as not long back I had a stomach that was not well, and what I thought was a fart was something else, so I also had to do some wardrobe change quickly. I loved the wave footage, it was amazing and you are developing your video skills on all levels, planning your shots, executing them, the editing afterward is fabulous, to say the least, and you are just becoming better and better. But with the determination that is in you, it just can`t be any different. JaYou brother!
I for one appreciate the brutal honesty, some days on a tour are just hard, and it seems to just pile on, not everyone shows that part of it and I am glad you do!! Really enjoying your videos on this tour Matt. Hope your feeling better JaYoe lol
did any of you think that back up drone shot of the wave went too long? i left it in becuase it was so beautiful.. but i normally would not let a single shot go that long.
Just as I was starting to feel a little off put by the length of the draw back the reward of the still pool popped. I think it's a superior shot just as it is. I have not ever seen a drone shot quite like it anywhere. It's a three act play. Rising wave, beach shallow, reflective pool. If it weren't for the pool it would be 2-3 seconds too long. It's like being led to a surprise party.
right! that reflective pool was so amazing.... i did the same shot in reverse going out into the ocean.. but the effect of the waves chasing the drone were far better...
Keep going with your gut. You already know what works, what doesn't, and why. I keep wondering if you are having to compromise due to the new drone's lack of power.
Matt, that is a pretty good sunrise, great shade for photography,,,,good scenery,,,,, you need a couple of "Red Bulls" to give yourself a boost. Gee Matt, Anni is such a good wife trying to find a " Uber "for you as you are not feeling 100%
You better watch out you don't want to loose your flags again, man is that windy out there to bad it's not a tail wind, you can rest up finish your video and get back feeling better, and like awesome thanks for the ride be safe my brother😎
Man that was some day you had. I totally understand your emotions when out touring. Here's a saying I say to myself when the rough gets go. "I rather have a bad day on the saddle than a good day at work" But you made it! :) ja yoe
Oh Man , what a video! Such a cool life you live Matt . Seriously , that was brutal. The scenery was really something , if you were 100% that would have been a great day.
Oh man. That looked like a hellish ride dude. Rain. Chaffing. Sharding....you had it all. Shard-Yoe! Lol. We’ve all been there. Happens to the best of us. Too bad you didn’t make it to Taroko gorge on account of the rain. It’s an insanely beautiful place. Maybe next time you’re in Taiwan. ✌🏼
Enjoyed all of you footage so far. I've had to secure a couple of flags on my trike with small zip ties in the corners. Pulled them as tight as I could to the poles before trimming them.
Wow!! That’s some major determination to keep going with sickness and horrible soreness and rain crazy headwinds loosing your flag. Hopefully your okay and resting up or have taken a few days break, don’t want that inner thigh rawness to become infected. I’ve had that before and I’ve found no way to stop the inner thigh, right at the top from rubbing it’s so painful. On a humorous note I thought the only way to find relief would be to have my legs at such an angle it’d look like I’m giving birth 🤣😎
I’m sure you have your own remedies Matt but “Butt Paste” made for babies diaper rash really helps with chafing / preventing chafing. Keep your spirits up brother, we’re all suffering along with you.
Hello from COLORADO USA😀. From someone that has some health issues and cannot travel. You are so lucky to have great health to ride 100 km. God bless you and keep up the great videos. What a great life it seems like your living. Can we get an update on the gentleman that owns the cove Aquatics? Thank you for the scope of the world.
You deserve an Emmy for the cinematography. And another one in the reality TV category. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode. You captured the drama of the weather closing in and all the ailments you had to endure. I'm sure you will find some remedy for what you have when you take your break in the Maldives. Hope you have a chance to heal/cure and give the trike a tune up and all that stuff. I have always used Chamois Buttr www.chamoisbuttr.com/product_category/chamois-buttr/ on my ultra cycling rides but not so much on the trike because there seems to be less friction. This may be more than that (Fungal?) Just a bunch of fungi's having a good time hehe.. 👍👍👍👌❤️
There will be better times ahead. If only a kilt were considered appropriate cycling garb for a man on a recumbent. I'm liking baggy cotton shorts for rides over 30k in heat and humidity. I wear a pair a few inches too big in the waist and relax my belt once I get going. I stopped using a fanny pack rotated to the front except on occasions when I anticipate putting my phone in and out of it a lot. I'm trying to imaging what I would do in your situation. Packing cotton balls for physical separation and absorption of sweat? Moleskin donuts. Ice in zip top plastic bags. I sometimes tuck in ice to melt under the top cuff of sun sleeves worn on my arms. It's nice.
Hey Matt, it looks like you lost your flag at the 12:00 minute mark. Not sure if would make a difference with that wind blowing so hard it probably wouldn't be in the same area!
Oh man Exhausted, diarrhea, bloody rash, flat tire and a typhoon. However, the scenery was amazing. Whatever you do, don't start taking it for granted.
I just accidently found your vlog with you in Germany building your tricycle. I was wondering if they made some with some kind of electric assist. It shouldn't be too difficult to engineer such a thing and it would sure make it easier going up hills and maybe recharge on the way down or when you use your brakes like electric cars. I wouldn't have to grief for you doing all those kilometers. As for your sickness you might do a form of Keaton diet. Cut out all the sugars and carbohydrates. You'll find your extra energy come from your body fats and you will feel great. Anyway just a few suggestion. Lots of love
Hey Buddy,I do not know if it would help 9after your rash heals,But you might want to try laying down lower for a while, till u get the feel of it,I did,and though my rides are not half as far ,and even infrequent ,campared to yours, I'll be 70, JAN 29, I never have back problems as my body is more evenly distributed. Just a recommendation.
As to your chafing (jock itch), try BodyGlide Original Anti-Chafe Balm www.amazon.com/BodyGlide-Original-Anti-Chafe-Balm-2-5oz/dp/B0043S06GI/ref=sr_1_2_s_it?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1537066386&sr=1-2&keywords=glide+stick I used it back in 2000 when I rode my Lightning Stealth (recumbent) from Washington, DC to San Francisco, Ca. A journey of nearly 4,000 miles which took me 12 wonderfully outstanding weeks. I wasn't in a rush, not like today's RAAM or Trans Am Bike Racer rider. Mostly rode US Hwy 50, aptly named "The Loneliest Highway." The BodyGlide worked well on the trip. The last time I was in Taiwan, 1980, I developed a rash and ended going to a Chinese doctor for some salve. I also lived in Taichung from 1973 to 1978, but didn't have an issue with rashes then. Best of luck. Pleasant journey.
Hey Buddy,I got a VTZ,from Ice. But listen to what I have to warn u about. Just a week ago,I saw a report on the use of energy drinks ,bye sports people, and over use. One young lady ,I think she was a runner(?),got Cancer ,but survived ,I think she drank 2 energy drinks every day,for 2 years, and the other guy also young sport guy ,drank 4 aday for many years! He died. Cancer. There was no doubt it was from these drinks,so if your drinking them, don't ,And do some research when u can. Love the videos ,and ideas of travel, travel allot myself.
There is a special wax for bikers because this happens to all of us occasionally especially on wet rides. Next time you see a bike shop ask about it because you are going to be hurting for a while especially if you keep riding.
for the rash/ chaffing you need some longer shorts with no seam. like these www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1771810556&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyrHXyITI3QIVyRwrCh2XugFkEAQYEiABEgJ6fPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds thats a nz site but something along those lines.. also you can use ..hope its healing
For your rash, have you tried a pair of performance underwear with say 6 to 9 inch long legs or something like that. It might protect your legs more. You would have fabric rubbing against each other instead of your legs. Just a thought.
amazing drone shots... but sorry about the brutal honesty towards the end... i was going to cut it out... but i thought it was a reality of the tour... so i left it in.
That's the reality of travel.
My experience has been; "it's worth it!"
Get well soon, and don't stay in Shitty ping lol 😂
Despite the fact that you had a pretty shitty day, pun intended :-) you produced some of the best drone footage so far.
It was needed to give more understanding how your day went.
It was real! Loved it
That was brutal. Take care!

i feel great now... no worries... spoiler alert
So happy to hear that! Gary reminded me that this video was shot a while ago. Keep having fun!
Respect for you, Matt! Beautiful drone shots! So sorry for your pain when riding... Hope you find some solution real soon. Stay strong!
Amazing effort Matt. That had to be a hard, hard ride. I know what those emergency nature calls are like :-( Will pray for your recovery, for good health and energy. Blessings.
Oh! Especially enjoyed how you followed a wave to the shore with the drone. Very cool. :-)
Sensational footage with the drone - this is some of the best yet. We were all feeling for you and willing you on during this ride.
Matt, your honesty is refreshing. I had one hell of a laugh at it. The way you brought it in, "Oh, by the way, no biggie."
It let me feel human as not long back I had a stomach that was not well, and what I thought was a fart was something else, so I also had to do some wardrobe change quickly.

JaYou brother!
hey.... i am always trying to "do life" to the best of my ability.
You are actually the inspiration for "Do Life".
WOW, Tough going for ya buddy , Hang in there. JaYoe!! :-)
Feel sorry for the pain you took. This was an illustration of what Jayoe means, respect
I for one appreciate the brutal honesty, some days on a tour are just hard, and it seems to just pile on, not everyone shows that part of it and I am glad you do!! Really enjoying your videos on this tour Matt. Hope your feeling better JaYoe lol

I really liked the drone shots of the waves.
Great video thanks for sharing .
Wow Matt felt so sorry for you watching this... Hope you ok and feeling better...
Weather is beating you up at the moment hey! Ups and downs man! Enjoy the journey and I hope you are feeling better soon! Jayoe
thanks boss.
Matt, that is a pretty good sunrise, great shade for photography,,,,good scenery,,,,, you need a couple of "Red Bulls" to give yourself a boost. Gee Matt, Anni is such a good wife trying to find a " Uber "for you as you are not feeling 100%
20 years in Asia, Japan and Taiwan - found you today, wow! Great stuff. My wife is from Changbin.
Welcome!
You better watch out you don't want to loose your flags again, man is that windy out there to bad it's not a tail wind, you can rest up finish your video and get back feeling better, and like awesome thanks for the ride be safe my brother😎
What a tough day. Hope, you get enough rest after that. I'm glad you arrived safely.
Ouch! So sorry about the painful ride!
Man that was some day you had. I totally understand your emotions when out touring. Here's a saying I say to myself when the rough gets go. "I rather have a bad day on the saddle than a good day at work"
But you made it! :) ja yoe
yup! better than a day at the office any day!
Wow! Difficult day for you Matt!! Be safe out there.
Enjoyed all of you footage so far. I've had to secure a couple of flags on my trike with small zip ties in the corners. Pulled them as tight as I could to the poles before trimming them.

Stay safe. You are the heartiest vlogger out there.
I’m sure you have your own remedies Matt but “Butt Paste” made for babies diaper rash really helps with chafing / preventing chafing. Keep your spirits up brother, we’re all suffering along with you.
amazing vlog as always

sometimes bad things happen to good people, thank God He'll gives you strength to endure and accomplish the goal.
Good morning!
Jao... :)
Oh Matt.. you missed the beauty happening in Carolina right now.
Interest vlog, I've got my fair share of fart shits so no worries there. Cool vlog. Beautiful scenary but too bad the rain. Jayoe!!!
haha.... thanks.... i think...
That looked horrible. So good you made it.
Go! go! go!
You need to apply liberal amounts of antiseptic cream to your groin area frequently to prevent rubbing and chaffing and more serious problems..
yea.... thats what ive been doing...
OH.....dear....poor boy... do keep yourself safe.
👊👍
keep on truckin brother
Hey Matt, it looks like you lost your flag at the 12:00 minute mark. Not sure if would make a difference with that wind blowing so hard it probably wouldn't be in the same area!
its probably in the middle of the ocean by now.
Oh man
Exhausted, diarrhea, bloody rash, flat tire and a typhoon.
However, the scenery was amazing.
Whatever you do, don't start taking it for granted.
Murphy just had its way with you today, but tomorrow is another day. I think you should think about replacing your pole with a stainless steel one.
Do you have the same rubbing problem when you're on a bicycle (two wheel)?
Did you swim in the ocean with those shorts? If not washed out the salt would be like fine sand paper.
yea i know... everything was washed.... i agree... riding with salty shorts is brutal.
Ouch, what a day! D:
Matt i told you please get some Lotrimin cream it will take care of your rash😎
Hey Buddy,I do not know if it would help 9after your rash heals,But you might want to try laying down lower for a while, till u get the feel of it,I did,and though my rides are not half as far ,and even infrequent ,campared to yours, I'll be 70, JAN 29, I never have back problems as my body is more evenly distributed. thanks for the advice.. ive tried bodyglide.. it seemed like for me it was tacky... and caused my legs to stick at times..
Hey Buddy,I got a VTZ,from Ice. But listen to what I have to warn u about. Just a week ago,I saw a report on the use of energy drinks ,bye sports people, and over use. Why not stop at half way mark?
Dude you are made of iron! You hurt so bad but you effing did it. #truegrit
👍
wow.. 好美啊...
Cooling powder, like baby powder , but better, no more rash!
powders do not work on rides this wet and this long... it just turns into putty..
There is a special wax for bikers because this happens to all of us occasionally especially on wet rides. Next time you see a bike shop ask about it because you are going to be hurting for a while especially if you keep riding.
Take care
THAT, was a long day.
Great video, beautiful scenery, heart filled biker....
If...there’s Chinese subtitles...viewers would possibly be more.
subtitles are impossible for the amount of videos i make.
The moment of truth always use a nice lotion to keep healthy skin in that area that always stays hot
I suggest that you go to Lanyu's seaside scenery and experience the Aboriginal culture.
You’re a pretty tough hombre.
Poor Matt you lose so many flags
haha... it makes life interesting.
Sounds like it would have been a good day for a e bike
hahaha
for the rash/ chaffing you need some longer shorts with no seam. like these www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1771810556&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyrHXyITI3QIVyRwrCh2XugFkEAQYEiABEgJ6fPD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds thats a nz site but something along those lines.. also you can use ..hope its healing
Did you hear super typhoon hit south China?
Yea. Some amazing videos
Once you get back to China and vacay in the Maldives, you can rest your "things" and let it heal.
H Hong ha ha!
You should have had two days off! Some quiet time! Give yourself a break!
Next time limit your intake of good suds !?
A while ago saw this tuber who damaged he’s rear on sone cascading used a u shaped neck pillow to sit on worked
Andrew Bristoe good idea!
That was your bad day? It seems your bad day mood is my good day mood....
haha... ill take that as a compliment.
You are funny!
You really need to keep active charcoal with you for food poisoning and indigestion, they should carry it somewhere in Taiwan not sure about China,
For your rash, have you tried a pair of performance underwear with say 6 to 9 inch long legs or something like that. It might protect your legs more. You would have fabric rubbing against each other instead of your legs. Just a thought.
Nothing worse than the hershey squirts and raw doodads while riding, the rain don't help neither.
Tropic of Cancer
05:22
O no, you didn't.
ooh yea.... i did.... :(
what a shit day 🤣🤣
You sound like me! I moan none stop!
WHY NOT JUST PULL OVER SETUP CAMP EASY
How much you have made so far from UA-cam.
Not much. ;)
I don't know if it's a good idea to latch on behind a car. It would be all exhausts in your face. Carbon monoxide for the win!
Haha. Depends what side
vaseline maybe will help?
Why not just simply install ya a friekin motor 🤔………..
Hey use stick deodorant between your legs for chafing re apply as needed👍🏻
We all liked you moaning! Only one thumbs down! Ha ha 😀
