I have zero sympathy for students of any race who are not getting into colleges because their grades to not qualify them to attend. For decades both Whites and Asians had to deal with getting rejected from their college of choice with 3.75 or higher GPAs. It’s the default ideals and ideology because its mission, vision, and strategic plan was created by a predominantly white faculty and staff for predominantly white students.
Sounds like segregation through classism...How convenient...Can you say loophole?...smh
There are too many factors, maybe they just decided to go to other schools. Just have them post the basis for all of the entering students, have transparency of their grades, etc. Then someone would be able to question if, discrimination actually exists.
It should be merit based end of story. It black students are not getting into the school due to poorer test scores it's not the schools problem. That problem needs to be solved early in the child's development. Better public education.
Diversity doesn’t matter, your grades matter!
Why keep criteria that excludes a specific group ??
Compare the average GPA btwn students of a two parent household vs that of a one parent household. This is a culture issue
Whats wrong with merit ?
I have zero sympathy for students of any race who are not getting into colleges because their grades to not qualify them to attend. For decades both Whites and Asians had to deal with getting rejected from their college of choice with 3.75 or higher GPAs. If that was not bad enough it was even harder for both of those groups to qualify for any kind of financial aid or scholarship.
I went to college in CA in the early-mid 1990s and I remember both Hispanic and Black students being shoe ins to the UC system if they had a 3.0 and sometimes they would get in with sub 3.0. Both of those groups also had scores of grants and scholarships available that were simply never awarded to White or Asian students.
Stop belly aching about how "oppressed" you are when the reality is you have been more coddled and privileged than other "advantaged" groups.
So if you don’t have the intellectual capacity or grades to get in, then you don’t qualify? Seems like the new system rewards the kids that deserve it.
Some have had fewer Black students, some have had the same, and some have had an increase .. same as every year. Just what I though would happen.
So people are upset that merit wins over Political ideology. Why can't universities increase DEI quotas in fields like Sociology, gender studies,African American Studies etc and keep strict merit system for science, medicine, technology, law etc.
Can we restore afermative action.
Fewer Asian students entered some top colleges after court's affirmative action ruling
Where's the clue?😂😂
Just shows they were never supposed to make it there. Race shouldn't be the reason you make it. Humble yourself there's plenty of other colleges.
At least it won't be a topic of discussion anymore. My thing is that there are so many students that fight just as hard as any Ivey grad in China. Way more. Also in Taiwan, India and other pressure cooker places. India has way more people. If meritocracy really worked, are we not in the wrong country? Did the US become rich on merit?
When I first applied for my university my grades was so bad that I almost didn't get into an university, however after years of studying and working hard I was able to transfer from my old university to my current university (I major in physics by the way). Please don't tell me that I was only given an admission because of my gender or my race as it would be a insult to me (I'm not qualified)
You're not qualified for what?

Now all the heads of DEI dept at these schools got to go. Plus why would you want to get into these schools knowing you didn’t get in on merit only?
You have it wrong. None of the Black kids are in those Ivy’s because they’re Black. Black kids were overlooked due to racism. Some of those schools did not admit minorities until the 70s. That’s why the need for the program existed. The Black kids are top rank students that are exponential talent but because of skin color they were denied admission. Because Black students were not welcomed at PWI hence the need for affirmative action. The white & asian kids are subpar students in comparison to the top Black kids. You forgot about the college admissions scandal. Those were white wealthy kids buying admission into elite colleges. They were denied based on their performance not because a Black child was admitted. Black children have to be twice as good to be admitted. Being Black is not a prerequisite or a leg up.
I'm glad the DEI dept is leaving. It's predominately white people. Black people never asked for DEI. Affirmative action was suppose to be for Black people Only, but everyone benefitted from it far more than Blacks, mainly White women. So, yes, a lot of Black people didn't care about Affirmative Action and won't miss it.
@@HATERSTARGET The only laughing stock is YOU. Black students are enrolling more in HBCU's. Africans are the top students when they come to this country for college not Asians and not whites. Black Women are the highest degree holders. I don't know your ethnicity but I can laugh at some of your sad BS around the world or here in America because in America, the poorest people are white. Do you think the media would show you that? Of course not, they will only talk about the whites who do well. Asians catching strays too, their suicide rates in their countries are horrible. White male suicide in America needs to be addressed as well as school/mass shooters. Didn't you pay attention to some Asian countries locking their people in their apartments to die during Covid 👀👀
Wait until the black athletes follow and start attending HBCU’s. It will happen and those academic scholarships will go away.
Hahaha if people stop watching NBA then what will happen with those athlete 😂😂😂😂 😁 it's education system. it's not defend on so called athlete😂😂

they are so many in sports 🏀
Trust me this was racially targeted
Naw yall just dumb
lol u must be one of those cliche not smart 13% and now u can’t depend on ur skin color to get into college

Erm…
Go Africans!!
Now they are threatening to sue Yale and Princeton because the enrollment of Asians has declined 😂😂😂😂 other minorities always racist against black not realizing who their real enemy is 🤡🤡🤡
Self segregation?
Ok so who are the non-blacks that are made at the drop?
Asian because there administration is increased
Yay, equality

Why the high black drop out rate and why biden has to forgive student loans
There is no high Black drop out rate lug nut. HBCU's enrollment has increased. So they are ready and doing better.

Oh no, the most qualified students are being accepted…
Where's the $200k?
It shouldn’t be about meeting a racial quota . It isn’t fair to allow students that didn’t hustle in high school to be admitted solely on race . In high schools , SAT and ACT is free for students to take it . Their high scores should be considered for admissions along with involvement in extracurricular activities. If these students aren’t hustling taking ap courses , they aren’t ready for the Ivy League universities. NBC is only focusing on Ivy League schools . If students want to go to college they can apply at universities other than Yale or MIT . Community colleges are also a great opportunity as well and less expensive.
The students made the grade but was denied because of their race, they were trying to change that. It was never about accepting Black students who were not qualified just because they are Black. I'm glad Affirmative Action is gone, everyone benefitted more than Black people who it was meant for, White women were the highest benefactors of Affirmative Action. More Black people are attending HBCU's now and I'm thrilled. I hope they continue to attend and support HBCU's and watch how fast the tides change and the Government try to find a way to change the rules.
Abolish the federal dept of education.
Black people got canceled!
No, the racism that was carrying them got canceled.
Erm..

More Black people are attending HBCU's, they didn't get cancelled, they're learning to Love being around more people who look like them and go where they are accepted and appreciated. Big difference. I hope they continue to attend HBCU's instead of PWI's, Academic and Athletic.

No, they shouldn't work harder. Black people need to separate from white people and white systems of education and employment in this country. Integration was a mistake.
