I just took the standard edition from Gamepass and do not mind paying 11€ for the beginner abo, since I want to play with my 2 best buddies and I also want to support the game. Since I also had prior to that an existing account from Playstation I also do not need to f*ck around with these FFXIV coins. But what we find strange or more greedy is the price for Endwalker. I mean, in around 3-4 months Danwtrail is coming where Endwalker will be included anyhow (if they do not change the current setup). So why waste now 45€ for Endwalker and then again in 3 months 45€ for Dawntrail?

Just started FFXIV for the first time since I saw the starter edition for free on Xbox.
I got a long road ahead but I hope it’s worth it! I made a Marauder.

Ok so something that seemed misunderstood or could be is the Free Trial on Xbox does not restrict you from Chat. You can not access Free Companies, Start Parties, or use the in game market & housing. Other than that you are good to go. I may have missed something. IMO the Free Trial is the way to go at least til Dawntrail drops however I may not wait that long myself.
The one with that kick ass jacket. What style is that and where do I get it?
It's important to know that if you'd already purchased Endwalkers on another platform, like wndows, you'll have to repurchase it for Xbox. I love the game but not looking to spend another $70+ to play on XBox.

so i've been a PC player for 10 years, but am considering adding the Xbox version. I have Game Pass Ultimate already. What's the best/cheapest way to do this?
Depends on where you're at, but complete edition has everything so probably cheaper in the long run. Since you have PC, you will just use that sub to avoid those pesky FFXIV coins.
started is free with 30 days free however i notice one thing after trying out FFXIV on PS5 & Xbox. The antialiasing is horrible on consoles if you can get pass that it's awesome.
so in comparison you'd have to buy the complete edition which is insanely expensive BTW a monthly subscription and then gamepass ? Or am I missing something
the video kinda confuses it a bit, what id recommend doing is playing the free trial for the unrestricted time period like he says in the video, then if you love the game and play through heavensward and stormblood id buy the complete edition which has endwalker and shadowbringers. by that point you should know if you like the game enough to pay or not. as for the subscription, ffxiv has a monthly subscription when you play ANY other version than the free trial. i believe it costs 15 dollars a month (?) and you also need gamepass core for online play which is 10 dollars a month i think. if youre just starting the game just download the free trial basically.
@@baylorching3951 Thanks that cleared alot of confusion I had up. So I just stick to the free trial until I'm done with stormblood if I do decide to keep on playing I'd have to buy Endwalker and with it comes shadowbringers aswell as the level 80 and 90 cap ?
@@ambience101x yes thats essentially it. me personally i dont have any friends who play this game, so the online restrictions dont really apply to me, and ive had no problems with the free trial so far. just a note though endwalker does come with every previous expansion included, and some novelty things such as pvp and market board, but those dont hinder your gameplay whatsoever. enjoy !!
@@ambience101x one more thing that is worth noting- the free trial allows you to make ONE character. this essentially means once you make your character youre stuck with them until you decide to buy the game, which then allows up to 8 characters total i think. making a new character is essentially restarting the game over again so you most likely wont need to use it in the free trial, but just keep it in mind when customizing your character bc youll be stuck with them lol. on the other side of that there is a npc that allows you to change your hairstyle but you can look that up if you decide to do so

I'm still so confused, can I buy the damn starter edition without paying for it again?? idc about expansions or anything like that I just wanna play through the base game and be done with it. haven't played a lot of mmo rpg's so idk wtf is going on.
If you have Gamepass Ultimate, you can get the starter edition for free right now on Xbox until April 19th. No need to pay and since it's a perk, it's yours permanenty.
Get the free trial. The starter edition removes all free trial limitations but you are now obliged to subscribe after the free 30 days included.
If i get the starter edition through game pass and the complete edition would that mean I'd be getting a 60 day subscription period?
*A hardcore MMORPG player could easily get up to latest Expansion within 7 days.*
*However a brand new Casual player who enjoy having their time arbitrarily wasted*

If you are new, I would say, start with the free trial first to see if you even like it at all.
So I'm on an Xbox free trial. I like it, but im not sure im gonna go 100% . I've been going through MSQ.
I got the starter free with gamepass then bought endwalker. Have 45 days of free play.
You can also register a pc version to avoid paying for those FFXIV coins, as well, and avoid getting railroaded once you do have to start paying for a sub.
I bought the game for PC, PS5, and Mac. I use each one throughout the week. I think I need help.

Don’t get the starter just get the Free trail. The Starter Edition locks you into the sub to FF14 after the 30days.

You can, but you have to buy them anew. You have one Square Enix Account, and you can add different platforms to that account and all expansions have to be bought individually for each account
gonna have to rebuy all the content for xbox. your character progress will always be tide to your enix account and would never be lost

If you have Ultimate that might not be a bad idea and you can use your existing subscription from PS4 to avoid paying for the pesky FFXIV coins for the subscription cost, as well.
