Not only do I lack confidence going on the steeper and taller slopes, I am also not very fond of heights which makes it harder to ski for me.

Hi there! I learned to ski 7 years ago at the age of 38 with my son. Now we go to Utah, and he can go on all the hills, and I panic on a double blue! I think you’re right... I fear the acceleration and cut my turn short. I learned to ski and then helped teach my son and two daughters. I think it stunted my growth. But, now I want to be able to ski with my kids on the steeper slopes!

This was brilliant - I am a perpetual beginner for years off and on and am really looking forward to moving to intermediate so I can ski with my friend (she's an expert) I took a full day lesson at Whistler and my teacher was working the entire day on turn shapes. It's the acceleration that scares me. I am very commited to practicing because I love what I see and feel with the freedom skiing, now I want love the sport without the panic

I needed this. Thank you so much. My ski teacher was really shitty and didn't teach me anything. I'm going to try this next time I'm on the slopes.

Unfortunately you will find not all ski teachers are equal. This is why we work with you to find the best teacher for you, rather than just giving you the first available teacher like most places. We would love to help you with your skiing so if you ever need us just check out the website and send us a message. Good luck with your skiing.

I have been skiing for three seasons. I'm 48 years old. There are only two green runs on my local mountain, and I have no problem skiing them. However, the blue runs on the mountain are significantly steeper, and I just can't seem to progress to skiing a blue run with any confidence. I am afraid of going too fast, and not being able to make my turn, or completely losing control, and injure myself. There are no runs on my local mountain that progress gradually from green to blue. I feel like I'm going to be stuck forever on green, and feel like quitting skiing all together.

Hi LydiaD777 Thanks for your comment. Can I ask are you taking lessons? If not when you did take lessons for how long did you take them. I am sure your not going to be stuck on the green slopes, you just need the right ski teacher to help you over this hurdle. As we say in the video getting the best ski teacher for you is very important. I am guessing your in the U.S.? If you let me know what your local mountain is I will try and find a ski teacher that will be able to help you as we have a very large network of people we can call on. But do not give up, with the right help you will be able to conker the blues in know time.

@@SnowCampsEurope I live in Vancouver, BC., and my local mountain is Cypress Bowl. I did take a series of lessons two seasons ago, that consisted of about six 2.5 hour sessions. It was a good intro to the basics. Since then I have been trying to go skiing as much as possible to gain confidence, and although I'm improving (my partner tells me I have), it seems very slow. This was my third ski season, and I finally tried a couple of blue runs. One was so steep (and icy), I had to go down most of it sideways. I could not do any turns at all. It was more than a little discouraging. I usually ski in the evenings, after work, because the mountain is much less busy. So unfortunately this also make for icy conditions. On the weekends, there are just so many people on the mountain. We are nearing the end of the season here in Vancouver, so it is too late for lessons this year. But I could make plans for next season.

Hi lydiaD777 It's great to get out there and try although, it does sound like you would benefit from some more lessons. Skiing ice is not the easiest and again there is a right and a wrong way to ski it. I would give your self more of a chance and try to ski it when it is softer. As you say it is the end of the winter now so may be we should talk again at the start of next winter and work on a plan for you and your skiing. I can help with some info on line, but also can work on finding you a really good ski teacher to work with on Cypress Bowl. As I say in the video finding that one teacher who can really help is a big part of this and together I am sure we can find one. This winter I was able to help a lady who was visiting Finland we found her a teacher and she had her best ski trip ever, over came so much and started to really enjoy here skiing. How does that sound to you?

@@SnowCampsEurope Sounds fantastic! Yes, I agree that one-on-one lessons would help a lot, with the right instructor of course. I am very motivated to progress, as my partner, my sister, and her family are all very proficient skiers, and I would like to keep up with them and enjoy more of the mountain.

Hi Many people suffer a lock of confidence after a fall or injury. The best thing is as I say in the video to head back to the beginner slopes with a good teacher and start with the basics again to help re-build your confidence. Before you know it you will be back to your old self.

I'm so scared. I was challenged with a (not so tall) hill at my local skiing area but it scares me to the core. in front of me was a mountain range which really put into perspective how high up I was. I'm trying so hard

I seem to end my skiing trip back at the same place, each time, I had an epic fall in 2020 just before Covid and had a frozen shoulder afterwards (second one) and then a hip replacement last year. I just get so scared when I loose control as I cant get a full arc to my right, my left turns are so much better so I need a good teacher, I have to be fair found some decent instructors and it has really helped me in the past progress, then I think too much and I stop the flow and fall over! :(. We are going to Whistler in February next year and I really want to find a patient and good instructor, do you know any I could contact? I would be so grateful. I will be 66 on my next trip. Yikes!! Thanks Lucinda

I skied for the first time last season (I could just handled 2 days out of 6 my family purchased) and I’m already looking for solutions for next years since we are coming back… I’m so afraid of the speed since I feel my legs aren’t strong enough to do de C shape if I gain speed, and the pizza never stop me fully, it only reduce the speed :/ is it normal to be afraid on your 3rd day of skiing? I just see experienced people here 😅
