    Speaking fluently in at least 2 languages, being proficient on a musical instrument. Reading books. Travelling and learning about the whole World. Using your brain. This shouldn't be unusual. This used to be what they called a "classical education." Some parts of the world still educate people like this. It makes for smarter people and a better World. Thank you for reminding us Marty.

    He learned Japanese the same way I learned Tagalog. I was living in the Philippines and decided that I needed to speak their language so I just put myself out there. Talked to everyone I could. Read everything I could. Even if they spoke perfect English to me I'd speak Tagalog back. Look at me now, totally fluent. Same with Marty in Japanese. To learn a language you really have to put yourself out there and not be afraid of the mistakes.

  • @MichaelKentSmith
    @MichaelKentSmith 10 років тому +23

    Sorry, but that really happens. I live in a country where I have to speak my 2nd language all day every day. When I use English, I blank out on a word every once in a while. It's not that you forget it, it's just that the other word from the 2nd language comes into your mind first and blocks the word from your native tongue for a second.
    I could totally relate when that happened to him! It's got nothing to do with showing off.

      He constantly learns new stuff in order to renew his mind. He had played metal long enough, so he wanted to expand in his style, maybe that's why he chose j pop cuz the scales and melodies are far different from western scale. Those scales in my opinion are really evil, and at the same time special, that's why I fell in love with Japanese scales, looking forward to create solos with Japanese and Phrygian scales :P

      My friend Hunter went to Japan for 3 years to teach English. He's not traditionally a ladies man, which is probably why he had so much luck (he's a really nice guy and not a typical dirtbag like me :)) Anyway - the ladies loved him, he got more action in 3 years than the previous 28, and came home with a hot wife.
      Methinks that's Marty's situation. Goes over there - nice guy, Japanese chicks dig him, met wife, likes sushi - makes sense. Who can blame him!? I'd play a little JPop if it meant a cushy life of pseudo celebrity.

    @theoriginalmrsm If you're refferring to Dave with that last part then you really need to think about what you're saying. Dave had a lot of problems, but A) He's not greedy, but B) He is cocky and he has a right to be. The reason Marty left wasn't because of Dave's attitude, they got on really well, it was because by the time "Risk" came out, Marty started to differ musically with the band. Read Dave's book, you'll get a better perspective of him there.

    @LTDGuitars420 lol...he's following his heart and passion and ideals which should be respected as an artist. He's not selling out for money, he's not abandoning his artistic ideals (which were never completely in line with thrash anyway) and he's producing music more similar to what he created early in his career as a solo artist and with cacophony than he ever did with megadeth. Stop expecting artists to live for fan ideals and let them be themselves.

    It doesn't matter the influence, what matters is the quality of the music itself.
    So why bother with trivialities, there's good music and bad music everywhere.
    I understand your point and yes, nobody gives a shit if people like a particular kind of music.

    @Frostdaddy88 Instead of comparing both of Megadeth's greatest two albums, you should really hold both of them in high regard. Both of those albums will go with me to my grave.

    @Tsehanchoi Marty WAS a Smackhead too. Watch the behind the music interviews. They were all on drugs all the time, every one of them. Jeff is the only one that doesn't admit it, when they all have said at one time or another, that they all were fucked up. Even if Dave did more than anyone else, they all acknowledge that they were doing the same stuff.
