Fair take honestly, we've been trying to progress the game's features to allow for us to mainly focus on story going forward. The Empires update had two goals, 1 to bring more variety to clan and party play while granting a method to farm for otherwise tedious items, and 2 to bring the Bronze Sea to almost completion island wise. The plans we have going forwards require the player to be at a certain stage in strength for it to make sense. Unfortunately, as an RPG, we are still in the early game overall. Full Release for the game is the next update coming up, and it's goal is to finish these major features, such as sensing, ghost ships, legendary ships, new sea monsters, dynamic citizens (similar to WoM but far more behaviors and optimized), 2 full chapters into the story (which is a big jump in level cap), and a whole lot of polishing for the game. I've seen a lot of criticism regarding how hard it is to get into the game which is totally fair especially since AO has a lot of integrated and complex features...How can we bring this info to yall better from the stance of a new player? I've also seen a lot of criticism surrounding the pacing of updates which is also completely warranted, the reasons these updates take the amount of time they do, without progressing the level cap is truthfully we wish to finish these features TO work on the story and updates. Our intentions are to get the game out of "Early Access" in order to continue with what we actually want for the game. Also if anyone has any criticism or griefs with the game (aside from balancing don't worry I'm revamping the balance team and its focus please forgive me in the delay in doing so) please comment them below! AO has so much to show that unfortunately its shine has been crippled by the necessity to release features without progression...which in an RPG is infuriating for some due to there being no real content to play. I'm hoping that even if you don't enjoy AO currently, that you'll check it out when updates happen, since these updates will now start being more in line with what the community has been craving. I believe for a better experience for new players is to announce some kind of big change in the game, in the game title along with the full release, this would attract players. And really change some things in the game, what I see most and what I remember players criticizing is the destruction of terrain, (my experiences with the game at the beginning) many times we ended up getting stuck in the destruction of terrain in the middle of important battles, like Lord Elius in deep layers, and King Calvus under the red carpets, or in pvp, but I think you maybe have a "good" reason to leave terrain destruction in the game, but I really think it's not something necessary for the game is good, I think this detail has the opposite effect on new players. Also, what I think would be very good from the point of view of new players is that all the irrelevant armor that has very low stats that really have almost no use for it, were all transferred to be clothes to be bought at the tailor or armor store, and only leave armor that matters in the game, not wanting to say anything bad, but like, (it's like a visual pollution of the inventory), because armor can have names of those who have already used it, and this makes them separate from each other, (this should take it out of the game), and the chance for them to come enchanted, they make them even if they are the same armor stay separate, they should be like everything together and compact, and colors and variations of them should also be one and then you can paint them if you want later, (I don't know if this has already been included in the game but I think so, this part of the armor comes standard in one color and you can then paint it). In so many slots that I've done I see some changes that have taken place when you're progressing in the game, like teaching how to make potions and gems in the sailor lodge, it's something good but what else I think is "difficult to understand" that at least That's what my friend Arthur played and stopped at the beginning of the game, it's this variety of items (visual pollution of the inventory) potions and things within the game, optimizing the potions to be a more simplified thing is having your own potion catalyst and another for throwable potions. A reduction and a more compact game in terms of items is the best thing I think, like leaving only boss drop armor for example, these bosses at the beginning leave their drop chance at 100% with each defeat, with Iris, Lord Elius Carina or cernyx king calvus, as they are at the beginning of the game will make players more motivated to fight these bosses, they will already see that they have gained something called progression for actually achieving something in the game that will help them motivate themselves to play. I hadn't even seen those discussions on discord about "class names", but if it's to really simplify the game and make people really understand what the person is using, like warlock for example my "Magic fist" I don't know what idea do you have to change the name, but putting a simpler name would be great, something that people would immediately understand what it means, for example I spent almost 5-6 months playing and didn't even know what warrior, savant, warlock, warlord, didn't know the difference, if you change it to something that allows new players to actually understand what that class is, or to warrior "Weapons master" idk or conjurer "Magic weapons", something that players would understand quickly. I trust that this game will be very good and great in the future, but for it to be like this, changes are necessary, you can make it good, it just needs to be a lighter game with these changes and so many more players will come to play, I really I needed to change video cards to run the game at first, I almost left it, but I made an effort and changed video cards, I hope they can make it work, I may not make any more videos if I don't have that much idea, but whenever I have something interesting I will bring this game to help :)
I just received a message from my friend Arthur, as we are talking about this subject, I asked him just now what he thought and why he stopped at the beginning of the game, and what he really thought (complicated) here is exactly what he wrote : Hey, Nick When I started playing for the first time, I found it very difficult to understand the game. I didn't know if I was doing the missions correctly and in the right order. I found the game's long-term progression difficult (as I said before, I felt lost in the game, at least at the beginning). The combat mechanics are complicated, but I believe this will vary from person to person. The destruction and scenarios are excellent, I liked how the powers affect the map. Also the fact that there is clear favorite child among classes (mage) while some classes like warriors get almost complrtely ignored (gear still not added, no attack customization besides moves itselves)
i think the reason arcane is dying is because the vast majority of players are there for the story and progression, so when the game takes so long to add new story content basically everyone has already gotten to level 140 and done the main story. the empires update was cool but its just for those who like pvp, which is a lot smaller than the amount who are there for the story. since everyone has had enough time to complete the main story, they find nothing else to do and thus they quit the game.
If the game focused solely on PvE first and PvP later it would be amazing. Idk why PvP was a priority to begin with since Vetex hates the PvP community anyway, there really shouldn’t have been any focus on that unless it was something genuinely overpowered like crystal leg warlock.

I also invited a few friends to experiment how new players would feel about playing AO. Note: Both of them are knowledgeable about games like this, particularly roblox. So after teaching them the basics and guiding them, one immediately quit, saying that its too much of information overload and hassle to play the game. Although, the other one came to like it and plays together with me as of now, but she did say its so hard to understand the game unless there is someone who is expert about it that would teach them
I personally have played since release, and a bit of Wom. Most newer players are usually a lot younger than Vetex's original fanbase (from his previous games such as world of magic and arcane adventures) which is the reason I believe newer players dont really find interest in the game and it's complicated mechanics (as you've said). Its almost unintentionally a closed community game because of all the minor expectations you're expected to have (then there is most of the lore anger by ogs not liking retcons cause its "stupid"). If they can fix new player integration, I truly believe more new players will stick around longer, despite the struggle to maintaining the ones who have stayed thus far.
Lack of PVE content and being stuck at level 140 while my Rival and the other Npcs get to be level 200+ or 300+ is the number 1 reason I rarely play the game nowadays, its also why I avoid ships in the Nimbus sea while doing diving spots because I don't have the armor needed to give me the stats required to take on those high leveled freaks of nature. The 2nd reason for me would be how PVP focused the game is currently. I only stay in the 1k to 5k fame/bounty range so I don't get jumped by PVP gods every corner. OH and the Inventory lag sucks SOOOO Badly. But this is just what I think personally.
You do know even high level rival u can technically kill them... Just find a way to cheese them.. And lack of armor isnt rlly a valid argument since u can litterly fish or keep farming the underwater exploration.. Plus sinking ships with cannons are wayy faster than diving but diving does give more higher values than amount of armors..
@@iamwiserthanmasteryodthis is such a stupid response, selling junk in your inventory doesn’t do anything. i sold all the junk in my inv and it still freezes my game whenever i open it. also, we can’t defend ourselves over a no life pvper who spends all day learning the pvp mechanics of a scuffed game. this game shouldn’t even have pvp, it’s clearly not made for it. us pvers don’t grind for the specific stuff for the perfect pvp stats, so we’re at a disadvantage anyways. you’re part of the reason why the pvp community is hated rn. do better.
15:48 i think the funniest part about this dude trying to defend vetex because he “has a life” is the fact that vetex has openly admitted that he doesn’t have one. he has said that the only things in his life are his cats and working on AO, and that he doesn’t even give himself a chance to experience anything else by going out. its fucking hilarious how sluggish his progress on the game as a dude with nothing to do but program has been. im just hoping that full release marks the start of him putting more effort into the story, but since he makes so many empty promises, it’s hard to tell whether or not it’ll actually happen. im cautiously hopeful about it rn, the arcane-verse is my favorite series of games on roblox but it’s just so hard for me to defend the guy who makes it when a no-life is what we’re working with and he STILL makes shit this slow.
I can agree on most of them tbh, Like the choosing magic part, just pick what you think is fun for you; I picked sand just to meme around I didn't go around asking the community which magic is better at both aspect; I picked what magic I think is fun for me not because it's good or it synergizes well. As for the player count drop; they left because some of them got tired how the enemy npcs are tough to beat; these idiots are used to npcs just walking straight at them eating their attacks head-on while AO's actually attempt to swerve left to right to attempt to avoid being damaged; the others left because of the difficulty spike the game offered The prime example of this was elius, they've gotten comfortable with iris and shura but when elius steps into the fray they cry about it? I saw a lot of those morons in vetcord and not even a week has passed off release a lot of people were yapping how tough he is and how unfair calvus was; atleast the significant portion steeled their nerves and actually beaten them while the few gave up and just ditched it. Overhyping (only for UA-camrs like ibemaine or ogvexx (garbage UA-camr btw) ) and then there's the toxicity which is the main problem.
I havent played because I am unable to, personally, though I do have 1 problem with the game, not everyone likes PvP, including me, I wanna play in peace not be constantly ambushed by stronger sweaty toxic players for no reason

I do agree a lot with your opinion, so let me share mine since I do not want to (record, write and edit that into a video) - REMEMBER ALL THAT IS MY OPINION DOWN BELOW AND IT IS MY OPINION AFTER ALL., READ IT IF YOU ARE INTERESTED! I've seen myself, my friends and other people change. I stayed because the game was enjoyable. Though its flaws start to shine as you play more and you start to enjoy less and feel burned out and you wonder to yourself a lot of things. People turn down Arcane Odyssey for how complicated it is, how unbalanced it is (mainly if they last till the late game and do more before they decide to quit) and then everything is just dark. I started playing because of: - Curiosity and Interest back in March 2023 - Wanted to try every class And now here I am in 2024, the story is what driven me to keep playing, I tried pvp, I tried pve, I grinded, I got everything I could ever ask for, I played with the friends I made in this community and now I was hoping Empires would fix, but in the end the hope was for nothing. The updates will still be slow, will be lost in time and all the progress for... God knows how long will be worth nothing since players will finish it in a few days and go on with their day until the next update or until they just decide to quit and forget that game existed. The balancing of this game is bad, ever since 1.15 - nimbus sea (in my opinion) the balance has been trash and getting worse with each update, nerfing one class to buff something that makes things unplayable has happened once before in this game. So I wanna refer in this comment about the metas before 1.17. Warrior used to be so weak on release, that update 1 made a certain hammer meta and then they could not nerf it properly until 1.15. [A stick in the sea also came along and a sunken sword was just discovered as the best weapon by the community], Warrior now after the awakening nerfs and all nerfs it got feels worthless to play as it is what it was on release, a vanilla (pure) variant of the 3 hybirds that outpeform it (except Savant, savant is more limited and has no imbuement) - Warrior's meta relied on only one or two or at best three weapons, not on what the class is meant to be, just the same 3 weapons over and over. Mage from release till 1.17.19, no difference. The same meta class that it was always, just people actually started using more magics and more moves were added and some minor balance changes. Its practically the best vanilla (pure) class out of the 3 in-game and the worst part is the only varity they get is just stats, effects & synergies. [synergies are busted on mages & their hybrids mainly, execpt savant] The whole point of me talking is cause of the lack of varity I've seen even in Warrior, a class with like so many weapon types barely had varity and I even fall into that rabit hole myself at some point. Someone when they saw my weapon choices said "bad" and told me to switch em, it just disgusts me that players are forced to play by the meta if they wanna be SOMETHING in this game. I did not like the way the classes are played is dictated by the meta, not by the players that use em. I never changed the class I played since release (on my main file) and watched as this game gets worse, the balancing goes downhill, its community as well goes downhill. The reason for lack of varity: - Most players end up playing by the META, ending up maining that until it gets nerfed and then they switch to the next META. - Most players like to stick to one thing instead of trying something new. (Even if they do try something new, they will not play as long unless they enjoy it and if they do not enjoy it they might wipe the file and go back to their MAIN one) - The Builds that end up being used are surrounded by these stats: Power, Defense (or no defense), Agility (it got nerfed, but I still see people use it) and Size (Atk speed is meta on fast things like light, lighting, thermo and boxing, but mainly size is the meta) - Not enough good armors for varity, this is to blame vetex mainly and whoever else works on AO. There is lack of GOOD ARMOR to use for PVP or PVE in general, the pieces of armor we get are bad and the idea of new armor pieces is exciting until you realise its a piece of junk that can barely be used in a build (even a stable and balanced one, these pieces do not work on) and end up being bad enough to make players not want to have varity intheir builds. That is all I can say really, I do not want to drag this comment for long.
There really should be a way of separating pvp and pve community. It just doesn't makes sense when someone with hunders of hours, and pk can kill anyone at level 50
Meu problema em toda saga arcane, foi não ter um grupo de amigos fixos que tenha interesse em jogar, passei anos desde que descobrir world of magic pela primeira vez, fiz muitas amizades ao decorrer de 3 anos até lançar o arcane odyssey, foi decepcionante ter apenas eu a me interessar. Passava horas em call mostrando cada detalhe do jogo tentando convencer e nada, nada mudou para mim, em todos os jogos do vetex sem amigos o jogo se torna vazio nada e divertido e tudo acaba sendo desanimante, fiz várias builds desde berserk ate conjurer, meta build ou apenas umas para se divertir. Um problema recorrente e dificuldade de fazer amizades, só por você chegar perto de um player parece que você está entrando em seu habitat e ele acha que está em uma disputa territorial com você, parecem animais além de atacar outros players enquanto está farmando ou apenas explorando, quando lançou o update de Halloween tentei fazer amizade com um clã br que não lembro o nome, esperei eles parar de treinar pvp entre eles para ir conversar, única coisa que ganhei foi uma chuva de ataques na minha direção sem sentido algum, esperei a poeira parar entre eles fiquei a espera por um ficar sozinho e conversar, tomei esporro apenas kkkkkkk comunidade e realmente muito tóxica, espero que o jogo não acabe virando um deepwoken da vida em questão de toxidade. Espero o melhor para arcane odyssey que possa um dia conquistar muitos como me conquistou em seu 6 anos no roblox.
Cara concordo realmente essa parte dos players só de estar perto você se sente em perigo de perder algo valioso mas é nada no final das contas, é frustrante tentar falar com os players e do nada meta builds pulando em você

Worst part is that a recent drama where it was revealed that Vetex planned to change class names to really bad ones. I understand why he wants to change it, like warlock in AO is a martialist with magic but when we think of warlock outside AO, martial arts aren't the few things that comes to mind. Nearly almost everyone went crazy over the small change that won't affect gameplay and it escalated to the point where they said "AO is dead" because of a name change. I understand both sides of the drama but I'm not even gonna say my opinion on this because there's someone amongst the audience who's gonna get mad at me
Honestly, your not wrong at all. what I've learned on the matter was it was purely a misunderstanding on the community's part. I doubt those were the final names (despite people's insistence), It was probably just place holders. Techlevel80 also states how he was running the idea through the community and was trying to gauge our opinions on it. Despite this, people had a lapse in judgment and let their emotions get the better of them. Although Vetex also shouldn't have fallen victim to the insults and should have tried to de-escalate the situation. Overall, not very good on either side im afraid.
i think the stats for magic and armor and all that you dont need to be a nerd about unless youre going for some crazy meta pvp build. you can just pick whatever looks cool and has decent power/defense and be ok playing the game casually. but i do agree that the inventory is insanely clustered and needs a rework, plus i often check the official trello and it really is 90% just adding little details. there are hardly any island/story additions, but i understand a good story takes time but with how vetex manages his time, a good story could def be written faster. the game has enough little details, it literally just needs more progression.
Uma coisa que acho que o vetex podia fazer era em vez de voce pegar roupas normais nos baus e talvez armaduras tbm, seria voce comprar, ja que existe o carinha pra comprar roupa e o armeiro e meio que eles sao inuteis no game, seria melhor que no de roupa tivesse apenas roupas normais sem status, seria mais pra quem quer fazer looks e tals e no armeiro seria pra quem quer armas e armaduras e faz mais sentido nisso, mas não tu pega 30 baus normais e quando vai olhar o inventario ta lotado de roupas, armaduras e armas desnecessarias
These points are important to bring up... but calling Vetex lazy is just outright wrong. This game has had the majority of it's work done by him which has took years and is definitely trying to make something special. It's easy to say these things while never have being been in his shoes, and It pains me to see that he is getting insulted because he wants to change something in HIS OWN GAME. It's absurd, and it's yet another example of the unrealistic high expectations these spoiled, toxic, ignorant, doomposting people have which has been present when the game released. Just let the man do what he wants with his game ffs, if he runs out of money, then that's when he should cater towards bringing the player count higher, which by the way, is very easy to do. I've said it and I'll say it again, player count DOES NOT equal better game.
but better game equals better player count. if a game improves it's player's experience, the players will play it more. i dont say that hes lazy, but you also seem angered. And vetex is very much concerned about keeping the player count higher. he said that in dev journal in disco, that he would remove pvp if it wouldn't kill the game. he did say he wouldnt make pvp focused updates though.... and he then made empires update. i feel like he's been catering to pvp community, especially the toxic one. refuses to add pvp toggle, theres barely any safety measures against gank, etc. he also seems to hate pve playerbase for some reason.`
eh, my golden rule with Roblox games is that if it has over 1K players consistently then the amount of players it *used* to have is irrelevant, although i will admit i kinda got burnout for the game after the empires update, i haven't even touched the halloween update yet, mostly cuz i have other things i have to focus on and my free time isn't super open like it used to be, also my ancient artifact of a computer is on a decline and i can barely run the game on more than graphics level 2
some horrid takes and some good Player counts will always drop a few weeks after an update, that's just how it works. The period after release is when most people will play, which is why AO had 120k concurrent players back then. Arcane Odyssey has a small but loyal community of around 2000 that play the game on a daily basis, while a larger community of casual players log in whenever there is new content. On the topic of things being simpler, I do agree to some extent. Arcane Odyssey is a complicated game, not necessarily hard, but it's not easy to understand. It's also very grindy, which I honestly hate and is the only reason I don't replay the story in a new slot whenever I get bored. But from experience, most people don't care about stats when they start to play the game. When you have to pick your magic most people will pick the magic they think is cool. I picked wind because I thought it was cool, and I've been playing on that same slot for more than a year. A casual player will play the storyline and quit, maybe come back when there's an update. Dedicated players like us will then be subjected to the hell on earth called grinding dark sealed chests, grinding for a brig, grinding to upgrade your deckhands, killing bosses over and over, fishing for 60 hours for a single sunken piece. But AO is a game focused on PvE (at least for the average player), and be for real, does anyone care about the meta in a PvE game? There's obviously a small vocal minority for the PvPers, and I personally wish vetex would stop sucking their balls so hard because the agility nerfs on the last few updates have been horrid for pve players like myself who just like to move around the map fast. also this is sadly roblox. good games aren't rewarded with the attention they deserve. it's not surprising that player counts have dropped. so yeah i kind of agree

First off, I just want to show thanks to you for actually listening to the community and being willing to check this comment page when you could've acted like Vetex (no discredit to him) and just blatantly ignored the player base. Please hear out what I have to say (if you wanna discuss more dm dlcdeon). 1. Excuse of the game being a passion project Whenever certain qol features are brought up, such as undocking boats, removing terrain, ship sailing (credit to jonesloto, but from here on out the rest are my ideas) being unable to vanity weapons, universal inventory storage, trading locked to 3 hours, lack of explanation about multiple features such as sunkens & lost treasures, etc. The excuse for them not being added is that the game is a "passion project". What I am saying right now probably sounds like random complaints, but these are about 10% of the issues that player would most likely have in endgame progression, wanting to start new files, or just not knowing general information about the game. You may be confused on why I said "excuse of the game being a passive project". Because that's basically all that is used. I'm not going to question on why Vetex doesn't add these. He's passionate about his game, and I get that. I don't get that he understands, though, that as a developer, regardless of what your game is you should at least be able to satisfy your FOLLOWERS. Literal patreon supporters have admitted to supporting vetex but not even having direct interest of the game because after a while, the game gets tiring. This relates back to what I was saying about the qol features; many of them could be easily added into the game. Vetex directly lets his ego interfere with his work. An example is when the entire general was locked down due to excuses about class placeholders (THE SAME ICONIC BUILD NAMES THAT HAVE BEEN HERE FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS). Does the relation to what the class represents even matter when the game averages 1.3k players and part of what's even keeping it alive are features such as iconicity? My point is, the lead developer is part of the problem. But another section is balancing. 2. Balancing This isn't just PVP, but I'll discuss that first. This was in issue all the way back since World of Magic, but the game's attempt to sustain build uniqueness has killed the game. 20 magics, with 10+ weapon classes (all of them have unique weapons that need separate balancing), 5 fighting styles, imbues for all of them, 60+ armor sets, a load of boss drops, an entire dark sea, potion set, etc. There's too much to balance here. I understand that you, tech, are revamping the balance team. I'll talk about my main point; the magics in the game are NOT around equal power. Take Wood. There's almost no incentive to use this magic. The arguments may be: "but wood is good with fire", or "the visual effects are cool", but honestly, all of those points are absolutely refuted by every similar magic. If you already have solids that are much more effective and synergize, such as Earth and Metal, why use this magic? The game claims the magics are "around" equal power, but this isn't even true. The magics follow multipliers, and as the level cap increases, a catastrophic amount of balancing is required after each balance patch because the game is just utterly ineffective at neutralizing its aspects. A simple solution, would be to make magics in the same category have equal power, but different mechanics. Earth and Metal could be equal power, but Earth is slightly bigger, and Metal has incredible clash rates, both in exchange for being wickedly slow. Your point, as a balancer, would instinctively say that it isn't that simple. That's not the point (which is for #3, but not for this one). I'm saying, for a passion project, the game is straying from its main purpose. The point is to finish the Bronze Sea, but ironically its overcomplicating what could have been done for the balance system in order to stabilize a part of the game that it doesn't focus in, but is forced to because the game is so dead that long time players are resorting to PVP. Imbues are also a major problem. Even though I said the game being a passion project was an excuse, it's doing too much for hybrid imbues, which is part of the problem. parts 2 and 3 in the comments
part 2/3: 3. Overcomplication (1) - Items There's too many items in the game. Part of the reason new players can't even touch the game is because there's an unnecessary amount of content and items that are very very briefly explained in one tip. (if your excuse is that amusing all players can't be done, then consider this: how can the game be called a passion project if there's nobody at the end to admire the passion?) I will talk more In-depth about how the game can appease to new players in #4. Let's get back to items: there's too many. It really doesn't help that the game shove a bunch of random items in your face, such as gems, potions, etc. As a person who is legitimately a 3rd gen on my current account and a 2nd gen on my old account which I recovered recently and is a day 1 of arcane odyssey, half of the items in the game are just going to be considered irrelevant. This part of this section is gonna be longer because (2) is much more important. (2) - New Players I brought multiple of these points up briefly in items. You're overcomplicating the game. There's no official tutorial (just a dawn island cutscene), but multiple features are explained in tips that almost nobody is going to read. How are you supposed to spread the awareness of cooking, brewing, jewelcrafting, buying NEW SHIPS WHEN YOU CAN, boss farming, diving points, treasure charts, the Dark Sea, the importance of exploration, going to a new Sea, in TIPS? Random tips that pop up when you're in the early game of the story. I don't understand how hard it is to implement a tutorial. Is sticking to lore-accuracy so important that one of the most important things of a complex game to have (a tutorial) is being pushed back for later? Are you planning not to add one? Again, I'm not saying I need one. I literally talked to a friend that has hundreds of hours on deepwoken, involves himself with multiple cc games, plays games in the shadows that are barely mentioned but are super good, and he literally said he hasn't touched Arcane Odyssey since March 2023. He said that games who use "passion projects" and "early accesses" as an excuse to prioritize key details of the game are the ones that usually never succeed in the end. I am not trying to confuse you or make irrelevant the true point and lore accuracy of this game. I follow the lore and love it. I'm saying, it's baffling that all of this information is (A.) For lore, locked behind the Myriad which we can't access. (B.) In online documents which nobody is going to read. (C.) In a trello that's locked to the discord which you aren't encouraged to join upon entering. It's like this game is still meant to be a gift to the few true Arcane Adventures players. 95% of people in general don't play the game anymore (I've asked friends in multiple discords who used to tryhard the game and legit got expert angler, bronze sea explorer, etc.) In case all you heard was tutorial, my point is also there's an unnecessary amount of content for new players. You have all the features mentioned earlier as well as hundreds of items, titles, NPCs that aren't explained, and much more. I have so much much more to say about this game and I have a very huge point but I'm not gonna bring it up since nobody is probably listening anyway. 4. (Small) - Updates, Files & Progression The game at one point announced a monthly release schedule and dropped it immediately, which is baffling. They're forgetting the point. This game is a passion project, yes, but it's not even allowing room for more content. Separate files are a huge problem. You're restarting from zero; which isn't the point. Ths issue is that you can't transfer between files. Assuming you're too poor, came back to the game and want a fresh slate, but your previous file had loads of items, there's no official way to transfer them (mentioned in paragraph 1). For progression, every single feature of every new update is locked behind the trello, few UA-camrs who barely care about the game anymore, the Discord (neglected until level 25+, as of this message I am level 24 ironically enough), and every other source besides the game itself.
part 3/3: 5. What Should Be in Full Release To Save The Game (IF YOU SKIPPED THE RANT READ THIS ITS MANDATORY) If you haven't listened to anything I previously said, I'll shorten it for you. The game is throwing excuses for not adding VITAL quality of life (qol) features for RPG games like itself, overcomplicating balancing and every single key feature, adding too much before full release, and neglecting the update times it swore to stick too. I'm gonna propose a few more ideas: - Make quests relevant: Add more rewards for side quests other than lackluster galleons, exp, and very rarely unlocking something (like a farm.) There's absolutely no reason to do quests. The next point will make it so people actually discover these, but you need to add more in the early game to make up for people being severely underleveled, and the rewards for multiple side quests need to be boosted. There's so much untapped potential in the early game which can hook players, it's insane. - Add a tutorial: Already covered it all in paragraph 3. Read that entire paragraph, but ill summarize: the game is overcomplicating key features like cook / brew / jewelcrafting, diving, titles, fishing, and WAY WAY WAY more. The excuse is the like 3 mandatory quests early game which you wont pay attention to. The tutorial might need to be a bit long, but that's fine. There should be a reward for completing it too, like a bracelet that scales to your stats until level 100 or something (existing files should get it by default though). - Simplify the game (controversial): Rebalance the magics. Adding lost magics will make the base magics overall not nearly as important anyway. Keep the magic with similar principles equal in their fundamental stat (so give Light and Lightning equal stats like he mentioned but light should blind your screen more, lightning shouldn't just have a super insane stun but make it reduce overall speed or something. Make Poison and Ash have relative stats and lasting clouds with low damage but Poison has longer DOT and ash has bigger clouds,) My point is, you don't need to change everything. The magics with key mechanics can stay the same; the issue is the power. When it comes to raw base magics that are prone for replacement, at least in the EARLY GAME (bronze - early nimbus) the magic shouldn't be too much of an issue. In my opinion, reduce the amount of items in the game, simplify magics, etc. ^ P.S. I know lost magics are not going to be easy to get. My point is, you're already making dedicated players use "meta" magics. There's no point if they're gonna be dedicated anyway to the point where they're still most likely gonna get the lost magics. - Prioritize key updates. Stop wasting time on balancing. You can have a "simple but effective" game. I'm not saying Arcane Odyssey should do that. I'm saying that no matter how dedicated the player is, they're coming in and playing the game on a Roblox engine. You're spending and wasting time on raw balancing updates, like realism (adding 7.5% damage to cacti) when WHO CARES? The more of these "realistic" effects you're adding without prioritizing the fundamental updates, you're not only adding lag, reducing efficiency by like 90%, but the game itself is becoming complicated and it's practically impossible to become a new player. - Make it new player friendly. If you're gonna limit all the information to the trello, fine. But at least tell players to join it in the game. If there's T.O.S. against that, then add a TUTORIAL like mentioned so many times earlier. Just like I stated so many times in 3. the game is almost not clear at all to new players. How are they supposed to have as much fun as a veteran when there's things like Fort Castrum that people aren't even aware about? - The game can stay lore-accurate without confusing its player base. The Myriad that explains the universe is locked. Key items that are strictly for lore, like Akursius Keep and Blasted Rock, Makrinos, etc, are legitimately all explained in hidden lore books. If you're missing the point, I'm not saying that they shouldn't be. I'm saying all of these easter eggs, for a new player, are practically impossible to discover without using UA-cam. The game doesn't enforce you to talk to NPCs, doesn't encourage the fact that actually exploring can lead to progress, adds very limited quests and hides it behind the excuse of exploration, and all of these key factors are because of staying "lore-accurate." there's ways to keep an RPG with its unique feel without killing the game. - End of the rant: some of these can't be fixed. Some of what I'm saying will take a long time. But all of this could've been done in 2 years. I'm not even joking, probably in 1 year. The game is staying inefficient. Half of these issues are because vetex is very very insecure and egotistical and refuses to change his game and hides it behind a mountain of excuses. Part of the problem are his patreon supporters who get the special benefits and enable his behavior. Another part is the refusal to give the game a proper dev team with more help because its a "Passion project" (apart of vetex's ego). This may sound like I'm just a vetex hater, I am not. I was an Arcane Adventures crusader, adventure story lover, and I love his games. He is a very cool dev. But the ego he has towards this game is holding it back a bit. However, the main issue is the community. All of these rants go unnoticed and everyone laughs at small inconveniences in them, but don't address the other 80%, leaving the game to rot. If you truly care, please like this comment and spread awareness. Thank you.
there's a huge point i wasn't going to address (it was tied to updates but not directly stated) but I will now: If you catch up to the nimbus sea, you're locked to level 140. The NPCs, rivals, ships, are all level 200-260+. Legitimately was at harvest island on a new file I made days ago and found some player's level 260 rival with 3000 HP, who one shot me. I had 800 HP. No, I'm not saying I'm bad at the game, but you can't even do the new content because they're still stuck on the bronze sea (which should've been thoroughly finished) because they bended to the community and released Nimbus too soon. No point of dropping nimbus if you're still expanding the bronze sea, which normally I might sound dumb, until you consider updates take 3-4 months per update now. That's all!

Por mim, se fosse para eu escolher alguma atualização, com certeza seria um rework no inventário: alguma forma, talvez, de pesquisar itens por nome ou atributo. I would be alot happier whit the game if vetex focuses in ading story only and balance the game, i don t remember anyone wanting fire or explozion reworked or having clan building aded( witch is a usles feature unles you are in a clan whit many constant active players to help on building
There is stuff I agree with here but also tons I don't. Really shows how you don't understand development and optimization if you think better effects will lag the game. Exploiting is basically a non issue. Complaining about pvp and 2k hours is entirely a skill issue cope.
Lets be honest, did u see new plasma, fire, explosion effects? Building destruction casually drops ur fps to nearly 0. And new effects doing terrible job with already poorly optimized game. Since when exploiters is not an issue? Bro i literally saw like 100 hover spells on marketplace and around 1-5 headless with modifiers, the day when halloween event released and marketplace also. I don't think the game details are playing against it honestly. Deepwoken is completely different genre than AO, but it has a lot of details aswell, which people like to explore. Even if you don't know how magics and status effects synergize and what build to go with, it won't affect your gameplay all that much, since those things don't give a lot of advantage. AO is a story-based game, and once the storyline ended, players left

Mais provavelmente é que o jogo e um pouco pesado. Essa deve ser a causa principal. E sobre o jogo ser complicado eu discordo bastante, isso é que faz o jogo divertido, pra quem quer jogo simples tem MUITO no roblox. "Arcane Odyssey deveria ter só poder e defesa", ai a variedade de playstyles cai pra zero. E todas builds são viáveis, umas são mais difíceis mas todas são viáveis, exceto aquelas com synergia negativa, mas por exemplo, pegar agua e fogo é bem intuitivo que as magias vão se atrapalhar. Eu jogo com Savant por exemplo e não perco devido a classe.
As someone who plays nearly every day since the closing of WOM, i still dont even understand half the game. I have over 1000 hours total and i still learn new things everyday about the game. I think a major problem is that the chat and community is so hard to access.
That and and item builds because if you don’t have a sunken and better amulets or boss armor you will lose to someone that is already have an endgame build and that’s why some people quit because either they develop deep hate on Attack size stats or attack speed

O pior é que é verdade já que pela história, mecânica e mundo seria um jogo que atrairia bastante pessoas que por exemplo gostam de história mundial (já que os reinos apresentados fazem referência a cultura egípcia, nórdica e grega), o pessoal que gosta de One Piece (por ser um jogo com navegação, piratas e reinos distintos), Black clover (em relação a magia) e afins já que tem bastante coisa, mas como você falou estamos falando de Roblox onde jogos como blox fruit tem um público gigantesco sendo só um jogo que pegou coisas de One Piece e tacou lá, além de parecer que o criador está cagando pro jogo, e jogos mais legais como o AO e também LL (loominan legacy) que tem uma história legal e uma ligação com brick bronze que vamos acompanhando não é tão reconhecido

Im pissed not about amount of details because they are normal or magic similarity. I hate this stats scaling fix while levels to overcome these differences do not increase. I want to have insane attack speed investing the majority of my stats into the ATK speed not some 15% for 200 points. Also back then I invested everything into the swimming speed build which was worth like at least couple of sunkens, but then vetex nerfed gems and effect and I lost all my top tier weapons for warriors and conjures like what the f. Ye and I got only 3 days of like 2 or 3 for f 500k galleons worth of weapons.I recovered but it took me whole 80 hours

I think I continued playing AO bc I love investigating things like synergies or builds or just exploring, but most players of roblox is kids, which don't want to play hard games I think this is the main reason of dying of AO, it's in roblox, if it was main game like World of Warcraft or smth similar it had much more player I mean, did you seen top games?

To be honest, im quite dissapointed how everything turned out. Remember when we were gonna have monthly updates so there will be ALWAYS content? Well, say nuh uh. They want to do the full release. Good! Now I have to wait 6 MONTHS. AGAIN. for content. And we had to wait 2 YEARS for Nimbus Sea. Lets be honest, so much people of the community want story content and some level progression, being level 140 against over level 300 feels like im playing a Twisted Dark Souls game in roblox. (not to mention the game is planned to have a level cap at 600. And there is already enemies who go way beyond that.) The empires update was cool but I feel like the things that should be prioritized are: Making the game alive (animals and client side NPC's). Rising the level cap just so it can be "playable" in each sea update. And much more... Seriously tho, good game, so much things to do but the progression feels tedious.

Cara, eu amo o Arcane Odyssey mas é triste ver o jeito que ele esta hoje em dia. O desbalanceamento ta outro nível tipo, eu fui lutar contra um mago de PEDRA e ele simplesmente solta uma magia que a range é a ilha de Sameria inteira! E o dano é 300 pra cima, isso me deixa desanimado pra jogar. O fator das combinações também me deixa bravo, porque eu escolhi a magia de água, mas ela só é boa com MAGO, eu não posso ser conjurer ou warlock porque é muito fraco, e como eu disse acima é praticamente impossivel lutar contra os meta braindead, a gameplay repetitiva já ta me fazendo enjoar do jogo denovo. E namoral essa comunidade ta ficando pior do que a de Deepwoken na minha opinião é isso, bom vídeo mano continue sempre :)
I like your point, but the idea of balancing the magics is kinda bad. That would kill the variety in the game imo. I like using magma because it's big and hard-hitting. But magma is slow, that's fine because it's balanced. If I didn't want slow, I would play a fast magic with lower damage. But yeah, meta-mancing is 100% killing the game.
Acredito que o Vetex tá levando o jogo pra um rumo muito nichado, que é o PvP. Por mais que o Roblox esteja abarrotado de jogos PvP como battlegrounds e etc, o Arcane é, inicialmente, um RPG. Com os muitos atributos que o jogo quem (power, defenser, size e etc) o lategame se traduz no que voce disse: nerds que querem ficar trocando tapa. O público que se interessa por isso no Roblox, por mais fiel que seja, é a minoria. A maioria quer jogar o jogo pela história ou pra ter o que fazer com os amigos, se tratando de PvE, sem ser jogar poder um no outro. O pior é que se não for os SEUS amigos e você for procurar amizade no jogo vai dar de cara com um dos tryhard que ainda jogam pelo PvP e vai tomar uma cacetada do tipo "Pq voce ta usando tal build? Ou tal magia?". Complicado. Eu acredito que ainda dê tempo de arrumar isso, mas se bobear o jogo vai virar só mais um RPG pra quem é viciado e perde tempo o suficiente criando build astronomicamente eficientes em derreter a vida de outro jogador, tanto é que a maioria dos patchs do jogo são nerfando e buffando atributos de mágicas/classes ao invés de adicionar conteúdos de farm ou eventos pra fazer algo diferentes além de matar NPC. When balancing team do "balancing thing" my will of playing i just decreasing, those pvp heads complaining about something op, testers don't test a thing, warrior just sucks, tp jump agility sucks, dashes sucks, testers only test for pvp thing, i thought arcane odyssey wasn't a pvp focused game but yeah it is and btw people just complain and insult vetex for what he wanted to change about stat build names, he thought his community was mature but they prove him wrong

story good but pve content is just ass. specially on dark sea the build damage is too limited cuz of "pvp balance" to the point its not fun going to dark sea and kill stuff.
Fair take honestly, we've been trying to progress the game's features to allow for us to mainly focus on story going forward. The Empires update had two goals, 1 to bring more variety to clan and party play while granting a method to farm for otherwise tedious items, and 2 to bring the Bronze Sea to almost completion island wise. The plans we have going forwards require the player to be at a certain stage in strength for it to make sense. Unfortunately, as an RPG, we are still in the early game overall. Full Release for the game is the next update coming up, and it's goal is to finish these major features, such as sensing, ghost ships, legendary ships, new sea monsters, dynamic citizens (similar to WoM but far more behaviors and optimized), 2 full chapters into the story (which is a big jump in level cap), and a whole lot of polishing for the game.
I've seen a lot of criticism regarding how hard it is to get into the game which is totally fair especially since AO has a lot of integrated and complex features...How can we bring this info to yall better from the stance of a new player?
I've also seen a lot of criticism surrounding the pacing of updates which is also completely warranted, the reasons these updates take the amount of time they do, without progressing the level cap is truthfully we wish to finish these features TO work on the story and updates. Our intentions are to get the game out of "Early Access" in order to continue with what we actually want for the game.
Also if anyone has any criticism or griefs with the game (aside from balancing don't worry I'm revamping the balance team and its focus please forgive me in the delay in doing so) please comment them below! AO has so much to show that unfortunately its shine has been crippled by the necessity to release features without progression...which in an RPG is infuriating for some due to there being no real content to play. I'm hoping that even if you don't enjoy AO currently, that you'll check it out when updates happen, since these updates will now start being more in line with what the community has been craving. I hope y'all have been well!
I believe for a better experience for new players is to announce some kind of big change in the game, in the game title along with the full release, this would attract players.
And really change some things in the game, what I see most and what I remember players criticizing is the destruction of terrain, (my experiences with the game at the beginning) many times we ended up getting stuck in the destruction of terrain in the middle of important battles, like Lord Elius in deep layers, and King Calvus under the red carpets, or in pvp, but I think you maybe have a "good" reason to leave terrain destruction in the game, but I really think it's not something necessary for the game is good, I think this detail has the opposite effect on new players.
Also, what I think would be very good from the point of view of new players is that all the irrelevant armor that has very low stats that really have almost no use for it, were all transferred to be clothes to be bought at the tailor or armor store, and only leave armor that matters in the game, not wanting to say anything bad, but like, (it's like a visual pollution of the inventory), because armor can have names of those who have already used it, and this makes them separate from each other, (this should take it out of the game), and the chance for them to come enchanted, they make them even if they are the same armor stay separate, they should be like everything together and compact, and colors and variations of them should also be one and then you can paint them if you want later, (I don't know if this has already been included in the game but I think so, this part of the armor comes standard in one color and you can then paint it).
In so many slots that I've done I see some changes that have taken place when you're progressing in the game, like teaching how to make potions and gems in the sailor lodge, it's something good but what else I think is "difficult to understand" that at least That's what my friend Arthur played and stopped at the beginning of the game, it's this variety of items (visual pollution of the inventory) potions and things within the game, optimizing the potions to be a more simplified thing is having your own potion catalyst and another for throwable potions.
A reduction and a more compact game in terms of items is the best thing I think, like leaving only boss drop armor for example, these bosses at the beginning leave their drop chance at 100% with each defeat, with Iris, Lord Elius Carina or cernyx king calvus, as they are at the beginning of the game will make players more motivated to fight these bosses, they will already see that they have gained something called progression for actually achieving something in the game that will help them motivate themselves to play.
I hadn't even seen those discussions on discord about "class names", but if it's to really simplify the game and make people really understand what the person is using, like warlock for example my "Magic fist" I don't know what idea do you have to change the name, but putting a simpler name would be great, something that people would immediately understand what it means, for example I spent almost 5-6 months playing and didn't even know what warrior, savant, warlock, warlord, didn't know the difference, if you change it to something that allows new players to actually understand what that class is, or to warrior "Weapons master" idk or conjurer "Magic weapons", something that players would understand quickly.
I trust that this game will be very good and great in the future, but for it to be like this, changes are necessary, you can make it good, it just needs to be a lighter game with these changes and so many more players will come to play, I really I needed to change video cards to run the game at first, I almost left it, but I made an effort and changed video cards, I hope they can make it work, I may not make any more videos if I don't have that much idea, but whenever I have something interesting I will bring this game to help :)

I just received a message from my friend Arthur, as we are talking about this subject, I asked him just now what he thought and why he stopped at the beginning of the game, and what he really thought (complicated) here is exactly what he wrote :

i think the reason arcane is dying is because the vast majority of players are there for the story and progression, so when the game takes so long to add new story content basically everyone has already gotten to level 140 and done the main story. the empires update was cool but its just for those who like pvp, which is a lot smaller than the amount who are there for the story. since everyone has had enough time to complete the main story, they find nothing else to do and thus they quit the game.

If the game focused solely on PvE first and PvP later it would be amazing. Idk why PvP was a priority to begin with since Vetex hates the PvP community anyway, there really shouldn’t have been any focus on that unless it was something genuinely overpowered like crystal leg warlock.

I also invited a few friends to experiment how new players would feel about playing AO. Note: Both of them are knowledgeable about games like this, particularly roblox.
So after teaching them the basics and guiding them, one immediately quit, saying that its too much of information overload and hassle to play the game. Although, the other one came to like it and plays together with me as of now, but she did say its so hard to understand the game unless there is someone who is expert about it that would teach them

Most newer players are usually a lot younger than Vetex's original fanbase (from his previous games such as world of magic and arcane adventures) which is the reason I believe newer players dont really find interest in the game and it's complicated mechanics (as you've said).
Its almost unintentionally a closed community game because of all the minor expectations you're expected to have (then there is most of the lore anger by ogs not liking retcons cause its "stupid").
If they can fix new player integration, I truly believe more new players will stick around longer, despite the struggle to maintaining the ones who have stayed thus far.

Lack of PVE content and being stuck at level 140 while my Rival and the other Npcs get to be level 200+ or 300+ is the number 1 reason I rarely play the game nowadays, its also why I avoid ships in the Nimbus sea while doing diving spots because I don't have the armor needed to give me the stats required to take on those high leveled freaks of nature. The 2nd reason for me would be how PVP focused the game is currently. I only stay in the 1k to 5k fame/bounty range so I don't get jumped by PVP gods every corner. OH and the Inventory lag sucks SOOOO Badly.

You do know even high level rival u can technically kill them... Just find a way to cheese them.. And lack of armor isnt rlly a valid argument since u can litterly fish or keep farming the underwater exploration.. Plus sinking ships with cannons are wayy faster than diving but diving does give more higher values than amount of armors..
And my only reason i dont play it is because my wifi is ass and it takes all day to open the game.

15:48 i think the funniest part about this dude trying to defend vetex because he “has a life” is the fact that vetex has openly admitted that he doesn’t have one. he has said that the only things in his life are his cats and working on AO, and that he doesn’t even give himself a chance to experience anything else by going out. its fucking hilarious how sluggish his progress on the game as a dude with nothing to do but program has been. im just hoping that full release marks the start of him putting more effort into the story, but since he makes so many empty promises, it’s hard to tell whether or not it’ll actually happen. im cautiously hopeful about it rn, the arcane-verse is my favorite series of games on roblox but it’s just so hard for me to defend the guy who makes it when a no-life is what we’re working with and he STILL makes shit this slow.

As for the player count drop; they left because some of them got tired how the enemy npcs are tough to beat; these idiots are used to npcs just walking straight at them eating their attacks head-on while AO's actually attempt to swerve left to right to attempt to avoid being damaged; the others left because of the difficulty spike the game offered

I saw a lot of those morons in vetcord and not even a week has passed off release a lot of people were yapping how tough he is and how unfair calvus was; atleast the significant portion steeled their nerves and actually beaten them while the few gave up and just ditched it.
Overhyping (only for UA-camrs like ibemaine or ogvexx (garbage UA-camr btw) ) and then there's the toxicity which is the main problem.

I've seen myself, my friends and other people change. I stayed because the game was enjoyable. Though its flaws start to shine as you play more and you start to enjoy less and feel burned out and you wonder to yourself a lot of things.
People turn down Arcane Odyssey for how complicated it is, how unbalanced it is (mainly if they last till the late game and do more before they decide to quit) and then everything is just dark.
I started playing because of:
- Curiosity and Interest back in March 2023
- Wanted to try every class
And now here I am in 2024, the story is what driven me to keep playing, I tried pvp, I tried pve, I grinded, I got everything I could ever ask for, I played with the friends I made in this community and now I was hoping Empires would fix, but in the end the hope was for nothing.
The updates will still be slow, will be lost in time and all the progress for... God knows how long will be worth nothing since players will finish it in a few days and go on with their day until the next update or until they just decide to quit and forget that game existed.
The balancing of this game is bad, ever since 1.15 - nimbus sea (in my opinion) the balance has been trash and getting worse with each update, nerfing one class to buff something that makes things unplayable has happened once before in this game. So I wanna refer in this comment about the metas before 1.17.
Warrior used to be so weak on release, that update 1 made a certain hammer meta and then they could not nerf it properly until 1.15. [A stick in the sea also came along and a sunken sword was just discovered as the best weapon by the community], Warrior now after the awakening nerfs and all nerfs it got feels worthless to play as it is what it was on release, a vanilla (pure) variant of the 3 hybirds that outpeform it (except Savant, savant is more limited and has no imbuement) - Warrior's meta relied on only one or two or at best three weapons, not on what the class is meant to be, just the same 3 weapons over and over.
Mage from release till 1.17.19, no difference. The same meta class that it was always, just people actually started using more magics and more moves were added and some minor balance changes. Its practically the best vanilla (pure) class out of the 3 in-game and the worst part is the only varity they get is just stats, effects & synergies. [synergies are busted on mages & their hybrids mainly, execpt savant]
The whole point of me talking is cause of the lack of varity I've seen even in Warrior, a class with like so many weapon types barely had varity and I even fall into that rabit hole myself at some point. Someone when they saw my weapon choices said "bad" and told me to switch em, it just disgusts me that players are forced to play by the meta if they wanna be SOMETHING in this game. I did not like the way the classes are played is dictated by the meta, not by the players that use em. I never changed the class I played since release (on my main file) and watched as this game gets worse, the balancing goes downhill, its community as well goes downhill.
The reason for lack of varity:
- Most players end up playing by the META, ending up maining that until it gets nerfed and then they switch to the next META.
- Most players like to stick to one thing instead of trying something new. (Even if they do try something new, they will not play as long unless they enjoy it and if they do not enjoy it they might wipe the file and go back to their MAIN one)
- The Builds that end up being used are surrounded by these stats: Power, Defense (or no defense), Agility (it got nerfed, but I still see people use it) and Size (Atk speed is meta on fast things like light, lighting, thermo and boxing, but mainly size is the meta)
- Not enough good armors for varity, this is to blame vetex mainly and whoever else works on AO. There is lack of GOOD ARMOR to use for PVP or PVE in general, the pieces of armor we get are bad and the idea of new armor pieces is exciting until you realise its a piece of junk that can barely be used in a build (even a stable and balanced one, these pieces do not work on) and end up being bad enough to make players not want to have varity intheir builds.
That is all I can say really, I do not want to drag this comment for long.
There really should be a way of separating pvp and pve community. It just doesn't makes sense when someone with hunders of hours, and pk can kill anyone at level 50
Meu problema em toda saga arcane, foi não ter um grupo de amigos fixos que tenha interesse em jogar, passei anos desde que descobrir world of magic pela primeira vez, fiz muitas amizades ao decorrer de 3 anos até lançar o arcane odyssey, foi decepcionante ter apenas eu a me interessar. Passava horas em call mostrando cada detalhe do jogo tentando convencer e nada, nada mudou para mim, em todos os jogos do vetex sem amigos o jogo se torna vazio nada e divertido e tudo acaba sendo desanimante, fiz várias builds desde berserk ate conjurer, meta build ou apenas umas para se divertir. Um problema recorrente e dificuldade de fazer amizades, só por você chegar perto de um player parece que você está entrando em seu habitat e ele acha que está em uma disputa territorial com você, parecem animais além de atacar outros players enquanto está farmando ou apenas explorando, quando lançou o update de Halloween tentei fazer amizade com um clã br que não lembro o nome, esperei eles parar de treinar pvp entre eles para ir conversar, única coisa que ganhei foi uma chuva de ataques na minha direção sem sentido algum, esperei a poeira parar entre eles fiquei a espera por um ficar sozinho e conversar, tomei esporro apenas kkkkkkk comunidade e realmente muito tóxica, espero que o jogo não acabe virando um deepwoken da vida em questão de toxidade. Espero o melhor para arcane odyssey que possa um dia conquistar muitos como me conquistou em seu 6 anos no roblox.

Worst part is that a recent drama where it was revealed that Vetex planned to change class names to really bad ones. I understand why he wants to change it, like warlock in AO is a martialist with magic but when we think of warlock outside AO, martial arts aren't the few things that comes to mind. Nearly almost everyone went crazy over the small change that won't affect gameplay and it escalated to the point where they said "AO is dead" because of a name change.

what I've learned on the matter was it was purely a misunderstanding on the community's part. I doubt those were the final names (despite people's insistence), It was probably just place holders. Techlevel80 also states how he was running the idea through the community and was trying to gauge our opinions on it. Despite this, people had a lapse in judgment and let their emotions get the better of them. Although Vetex also shouldn't have fallen victim to the insults and should have tried to de-escalate the situation. Overall, not very good on either side im afraid.

i think the stats for magic and armor and all that you dont need to be a nerd about unless youre going for some crazy meta pvp build. you can just pick whatever looks cool and has decent power/defense and be ok playing the game casually. but i do agree that the inventory is insanely clustered and needs a rework, plus i often check the official trello and it really is 90% just adding little details. there are hardly any island/story additions, but i understand a good story takes time but with how vetex manages his time, a good story could def be written faster.

These points are important to bring up... but calling Vetex lazy is just outright wrong. This game has had the majority of it's work done by him which has took years and is definitely trying to make something special. It's easy to say these things while never have being been in his shoes, and It pains me to see that he is getting insulted because he wants to change something in HIS OWN GAME. It's absurd, and it's yet another example of the unrealistic high expectations these spoiled, toxic, ignorant, doomposting people have which has been present when the game released. Just let the man do what he wants with his game ffs, if he runs out of money, then that's when he should cater towards bringing the player count higher, which by the way, is very easy to do. eh, my golden rule with Roblox games is that if it has over 1K players consistently then the amount of players it *used* to have is irrelevant, although i will admit i kinda got burnout for the game after the empires update, i haven't even touched the halloween update yet, mostly cuz i have other things i have to focus on and my free time isn't super open like it used to be, also my ancient artifact of a computer is on a decline and i can barely run the game on more than graphics level 2

Player counts will always drop a few weeks after an update, that's just how it works. The period after release is when most people will play, which is why AO had 120k concurrent players back then. Arcane Odyssey has a small but loyal community of around 2000 that play the game on a daily basis, while a larger community of casual players log in whenever there is new content.
On the topic of things being simpler, I do agree to some extent. Arcane Odyssey is a complicated game, not necessarily hard, but it's not easy to understand. It's also very grindy, which I honestly hate and is the only reason I don't replay the story in a new slot whenever I get bored. But from experience, most people don't care about stats when they start to play the game. When you have to pick your magic most people will pick the magic they think is cool. I picked wind because I thought it was cool, and I've been playing on that same slot for more than a year. A casual player will play the storyline and quit, maybe come back when there's an update. Dedicated players like us will then be subjected to the hell on earth called grinding dark sealed chests, grinding for a brig, grinding to upgrade your deckhands, killing bosses over and over, fishing for 60 hours for a single sunken piece.
But AO is a game focused on PvE (at least for the average player), and be for real, does anyone care about the meta in a PvE game? There's obviously a small vocal minority for the PvPers, and I personally wish vetex would stop sucking their balls so hard because the agility nerfs on the last few updates have been horrid for pve players like myself who just like to move around the map fast.
also this is sadly roblox. good games aren't rewarded with the attention they deserve. it's not surprising that player counts have dropped.

First off, I just want to show thanks to you for actually listening to the community and being willing to check this comment page when you could've acted like Vetex (no discredit to him) and just blatantly ignored the player base. Please hear out what I have to say (if you wanna discuss more dm dlcdeon).
1. Excuse of the game being a passion project
Whenever certain qol features are brought up, such as undocking boats, removing terrain, ship sailing (credit to jonesloto, but from here on out the rest are my ideas) being unable to vanity weapons, universal inventory storage, trading locked to 3 hours, lack of explanation about multiple features such as sunkens & lost treasures, etc. The excuse for them not being added is that the game is a "passion project".
What I am saying right now probably sounds like random complaints, but these are about 10% of the issues that player would most likely have in endgame progression, wanting to start new files, or just not knowing general information about the game. You may be confused on why I said "excuse of the game being a passive project". Because that's basically all that is used. I'm not going to question on why Vetex doesn't add these. He's passionate about his game, and I get that. I don't get that he understands, though, that as a developer, regardless of what your game is you should at least be able to satisfy your FOLLOWERS. Literal patreon supporters have admitted to supporting vetex but not even having direct interest of the game because after a while, the game gets tiring. This relates back to what I was saying about the qol features; many of them could be easily added into the game. Vetex directly lets his ego interfere with his work. An example is when the entire general was locked down due to excuses about class placeholders (THE SAME ICONIC BUILD NAMES THAT HAVE BEEN HERE FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS). Does the relation to what the class represents even matter when the game averages 1.3k players and part of what's even keeping it alive are features such as iconicity? My point is, the lead developer is part of the problem. But another section is balancing.
2. Balancing
This isn't just PVP, but I'll discuss that first. This was in issue all the way back since World of Magic, but the game's attempt to sustain build uniqueness has killed the game. 20 magics, with 10+ weapon classes (all of them have unique weapons that need separate balancing), 5 fighting styles, imbues for all of them, 60+ armor sets, a load of boss drops, an entire dark sea, potion set, etc. There's too much to balance here. I understand that you, tech, are revamping the balance team. I'll talk about my main point; the magics in the game are NOT around equal power. Take Wood. There's almost no incentive to use this magic. The arguments may be: "but wood is good with fire", or "the visual effects are cool", but honestly, all of those points are absolutely refuted by every similar magic. If you already have solids that are much more effective and synergize, such as Earth and Metal, why use this magic? The game claims the magics are "around" equal power, but this isn't even true. The magics follow multipliers, and as the level cap increases, a catastrophic amount of balancing is required after each balance patch because the game is just utterly ineffective at neutralizing its aspects. A simple solution, would be to make magics in the same category have equal power, but different mechanics. Earth and Metal could be equal power, but Earth is slightly bigger, and Metal has incredible clash rates, both in exchange for being wickedly slow. Your point, as a balancer, would instinctively say that it isn't that simple. That's not the point (which is for #3, but not for this one). I'm saying, for a passion project, the game is straying from its main purpose. The point is to finish the Bronze Sea, but ironically its overcomplicating what could have been done for the balance system in order to stabilize a part of the game that it doesn't focus in, but is forced to because the game is so dead that long time players are resorting to PVP. Imbues are also a major problem. Even though I said the game being a passion project was an excuse, it's doing too much for hybrid imbues, which is part of the problem.

part 2/3:
3. Overcomplication
(1) - Items
There's too many items in the game. Part of the reason new players can't even touch the game is because there's an unnecessary amount of content and items that are very very briefly explained in one tip. (if your excuse is that amusing all players can't be done, then consider this: how can the game be called a passion project if there's nobody at the end to admire the passion?) I will talk more In-depth about how the game can appease to new players in #4. Let's get back to items: there's too many. It really doesn't help that the game shove a bunch of random items in your face, such as gems, potions, etc. As a person who is legitimately a 3rd gen on my current account and a 2nd gen on my old account which I recovered recently and is a day 1 of arcane odyssey, half of the items in the game are just going to be considered irrelevant. This part of this section is gonna be longer because (2) is much more important.
(2) - New Players
I brought multiple of these points up briefly in items. You're overcomplicating the game. There's no official tutorial (just a dawn island cutscene), but multiple features are explained in tips that almost nobody is going to read. How are you supposed to spread the awareness of cooking, brewing, jewelcrafting, buying NEW SHIPS WHEN YOU CAN, boss farming, diving points, treasure charts, the Dark Sea, the importance of exploration, going to a new Sea, in TIPS? Random tips that pop up when you're in the early game of the story. I don't understand how hard it is to implement a tutorial. Is sticking to lore-accuracy so important that one of the most important things of a complex game to have (a tutorial) is being pushed back for later? Are you planning not to add one? Again, I'm not saying I need one. I literally talked to a friend that has hundreds of hours on deepwoken, involves himself with multiple cc games, plays games in the shadows that are barely mentioned but are super good, and he literally said he hasn't touched Arcane Odyssey since March 2023. He said that games who use "passion projects" and "early accesses" as an excuse to prioritize key details of the game are the ones that usually never succeed in the end. I am not trying to confuse you or make irrelevant the true point and lore accuracy of this game. I follow the lore and love it. I'm saying, it's baffling that all of this information is (A.) For lore, locked behind the Myriad which we can't access. (B.) In online documents which nobody is going to read. (C.) In a trello that's locked to the discord which you aren't encouraged to join upon entering. It's like this game is still meant to be a gift to the few true Arcane Adventures players. 95% of people in general don't play the game anymore (I've asked friends in multiple discords who used to tryhard the game and legit got expert angler, bronze sea explorer, etc.) In case all you heard was tutorial, my point is also there's an unnecessary amount of content for new players. You have all the features mentioned earlier as well as hundreds of items, titles, NPCs that aren't explained, and much more. I have so much much more to say about this game and I have a very huge point but I'm not gonna bring it up since nobody is probably listening anyway.
4. (Small) - Updates, Files & Progression
The game at one point announced a monthly release schedule and dropped it immediately, which is baffling. They're forgetting the point. This game is a passion project, yes, but it's not even allowing room for more content. Separate files are a huge problem. You're restarting from zero; which isn't the point. Ths issue is that you can't transfer between files. Assuming you're too poor, came back to the game and want a fresh slate, but your previous file had loads of items, there's no official way to transfer them (mentioned in paragraph 1). For progression, every single feature of every new update is locked behind the trello, few UA-camrs who barely care about the game anymore, the Discord (neglected until level 25+, as of this message I am level 24 ironically enough), and every other source besides the game itself.
part 3/3:
5. What Should Be in Full Release To Save The Game (IF YOU SKIPPED THE RANT READ THIS ITS MANDATORY)
If you haven't listened to anything I previously said, I'll shorten it for you. The game is throwing excuses for not adding VITAL quality of life (qol) features for RPG games like itself, overcomplicating balancing and every single key feature, adding too much before full release, and neglecting the update times it swore to stick too. I'm gonna propose a few more ideas:
- Make quests relevant: Add more rewards for side quests other than lackluster galleons, exp, and very rarely unlocking something (like a farm.) There's absolutely no reason to do quests. The next point will make it so people actually discover these, but you need to add more in the early game to make up for people being severely underleveled, and the rewards for multiple side quests need to be boosted. There's so much untapped potential in the early game which can hook players, it's insane.
- Add a tutorial: Already covered it all in paragraph 3. Read that entire paragraph, but ill summarize: the game is overcomplicating key features like cook / brew / jewelcrafting, diving, titles, fishing, and WAY WAY WAY more. The excuse is the like 3 mandatory quests early game which you wont pay attention to. The tutorial might need to be a bit long, but that's fine. There should be a reward for completing it too, like a bracelet that scales to your stats until level 100 or something (existing files should get it by default though).
- Simplify the game (controversial): Rebalance the magics. Adding lost magics will make the base magics overall not nearly as important anyway. Keep the magic with similar principles equal in their fundamental stat (so give Light and Lightning equal stats like he mentioned but light should blind your screen more, lightning shouldn't just have a super insane stun but make it reduce overall speed or something. Make Poison and Ash have relative stats and lasting clouds with low damage but Poison has longer DOT and ash has bigger clouds,) My point is, you don't need to change everything. The magics with key mechanics can stay the same; the issue is the power. When it comes to raw base magics that are prone for replacement, at least in the EARLY GAME (bronze - early nimbus) the magic shouldn't be too much of an issue. In my opinion, reduce the amount of items in the game, simplify magics, etc.
^ P.S. I know lost magics are not going to be easy to get. My point is, you're already making dedicated players use "meta" magics. There's no point if they're gonna be dedicated anyway to the point where they're still most likely gonna get the lost magics.
- Prioritize key updates. Stop wasting time on balancing. You can have a "simple but effective" game. I'm not saying Arcane Odyssey should do that. I'm saying that no matter how dedicated the player is, they're coming in and playing the game on a Roblox engine. You're spending and wasting time on raw balancing updates, like realism (adding 7.5% damage to cacti) when WHO CARES? The more of these "realistic" effects you're adding without prioritizing the fundamental updates, you're not only adding lag, reducing efficiency by like 90%, but the game itself is becoming complicated and it's practically impossible to become a new player.
- Make it new player friendly. If you're gonna limit all the information to the trello, fine. But at least tell players to join it in the game. If there's T.O.S. against that, then add a TUTORIAL like mentioned so many times earlier. Just like I stated so many times in 3. the game is almost not clear at all to new players. How are they supposed to have as much fun as a veteran when there's things like Fort Castrum that people aren't even aware about?
- The game can stay lore-accurate without confusing its player base. The Myriad that explains the universe is locked. Key items that are strictly for lore, like Akursius Keep and Blasted Rock, Makrinos, etc, are legitimately all explained in hidden lore books. If you're missing the point, I'm not saying that they shouldn't be. I'm saying all of these easter eggs, for a new player, are practically impossible to discover without using UA-cam. The game doesn't enforce you to talk to NPCs, doesn't encourage the fact that actually exploring can lead to progress, adds very limited quests and hides it behind the excuse of exploration, and all of these key factors are because of staying "lore-accurate." there's ways to keep an RPG with its unique feel without killing the game.
- End of the rant: some of these can't be fixed. Some of what I'm saying will take a long time. But all of this could've been done in 2 years. I'm not even joking, probably in 1 year. The game is staying inefficient. Half of these issues are because vetex is very very insecure and egotistical and refuses to change his game and hides it behind a mountain of excuses. Part of the problem are his patreon supporters who get the special benefits and enable his behavior. Another part is the refusal to give the game a proper dev team with more help because its a "Passion project" (apart of vetex's ego).
This may sound like I'm just a vetex hater, I am not. I was an Arcane Adventures crusader, adventure story lover, and I love his games. He is a very cool dev. But the ego he has towards this game is holding it back a bit. However, the main issue is the community. All of these rants go unnoticed and everyone laughs at small inconveniences in them, but don't address the other 80%, leaving the game to rot. If you truly care, please like this comment and spread awareness. Thank you.
there's a huge point i wasn't going to address (it was tied to updates but not directly stated) but I will now:
If you catch up to the nimbus sea, you're locked to level 140. The NPCs, rivals, ships, are all level 200-260+. Legitimately was at harvest island on a new file I made days ago and found some player's level 260 rival with 3000 HP, who one shot me. I had 800 HP. No, I'm not saying I'm bad at the game, but you can't even do the new content because they're still stuck on the bronze sea (which should've been thoroughly finished) because they bended to the community and released Nimbus too soon. No point of dropping nimbus if you're still expanding the bronze sea, which normally I might sound dumb, until you consider updates take 3-4 months per update now. That's all!

Eu joguei Arcane Adventures lá em 2016; naquela época, meu notebook sempre dava tela azul quando eu chegava na terceira ilha. Desde então, tinha desistido de jogar. Algumas semanas atrás, quando descobri que o AO existia, fiquei muito hypado e comecei a jogar muito. Joguei por aproximadamente 150 horas. Chegou num ponto em que tudo que eu queria era testar builds novas, só que a dificuldade de achar ou comprar um Prometheus é muito grande, e eu acabei dando uma parada no jogo.
Por mim, se fosse para eu escolher alguma atualização, com certeza seria um rework no inventário: alguma forma, talvez, de pesquisar itens por nome ou atributo. Alguma maneira, quem sabe, de fazer um filtro que sempre movesse os itens indesejados que você coleta para uma "lixeira" e os vendesse automaticamente sempre que você chegasse a um NPC lojista... e claro mais conteúdo
se tu pesquisar reagent no inventario normal (sem ser o do tab) tu ve todos os reagentes, assim como catalysts se n me engano

* Create simple, yet effective solutions to the problems, to adress meta problems?
Nuh heck it! Add more complicated formulas, that would end up breaking. (Metal size is 1.4-1.6 rn due to this)
* Actually do some balancing. Nuh gut living shit out of every build. " If everything is 0, then this means its balanced! " - probably b-team
* Listen to PVE&PVP community thoughts? Nuh they aint charging public opinnion on b-trello anymore!
Essential problems:
* Most of the people that i know, doing pvp only. (PVP balancing is still bad as heck rn)
* People playing AO a bit to much. Some people got 2k hours. Also them: AO has never been this dry.
* Inventory issues(Memory leaks, fps reduction, ping reduction | It affects all of that passively, even if u wont open it)
* Exploiters
* Bugs
* FPS issues
* Ping issues
I would be alot happier whit the game if vetex focuses in ading story only and balance the game, i don t remember anyone wanting fire or explozion reworked or having clan building aded( witch is a usles feature unles you are in a clan whit many constant active players to help on building

Exploiting is basically a non issue. Complaining about pvp and 2k hours is entirely a skill issue cope.
Lets be honest, did u see new plasma, fire, explosion effects? Building destruction casually drops ur fps to nearly 0. And new effects doing terrible job with already poorly optimized game.

I don't think the game details are playing against it honestly. Deepwoken is completely different genre than AO, but it has a lot of details aswell, which people like to explore. Even if you don't know how magics and status effects synergize and what build to go with, it won't affect your gameplay all that much, since those things don't give a lot of advantage. AO is a story-based game, and once the storyline ended, players left

Mais provavelmente é que o jogo e um pouco pesado. Essa deve ser a causa principal.
E sobre o jogo ser complicado eu discordo bastante, isso é que faz o jogo divertido, pra quem quer jogo simples tem MUITO no roblox. "Arcane Odyssey deveria ter só poder e defesa", ai a variedade de playstyles cai pra zero. E todas builds são viáveis, umas são mais difíceis mas todas são viáveis, exceto aquelas com synergia negativa, mas por exemplo, pegar agua e fogo é bem intuitivo que as magias vão se atrapalhar. Eu jogo com Savant por exemplo e não perco devido a classe.

As someone who plays nearly every day since the closing of WOM, i still dont even understand half the game. I have over 1000 hours total and i still learn new things everyday about the game. I think a major problem is that the chat and community is so hard to access.

Im pissed not about amount of details because they are normal or magic similarity. I hate this stats scaling fix while levels to overcome these differences do not increase. I want to have insane attack speed investing the majority of my stats into the ATK speed not some 15% for 200 points. Also back then I invested everything into the swimming speed build which was worth like at least couple of sunkens, but then vetex nerfed gems and effect and I lost all my top tier weapons for warriors and conjures like what the f. Ye and I got only 3 days of like 2 or 3 for f 500k galleons worth of weapons.I recovered but it took me whole 80 hours

(not to mention the game is planned to have a level cap at 600. And there is already enemies who go way beyond that.)
The empires update was cool but I feel like the things that should be prioritized are: Making the game alive (animals and client side NPC's). Rising the level cap just so it can be "playable" in each sea update. And much more...
Seriously tho, good game, so much things to do but the progression feels tedious.

Cara, eu amo o Arcane Odyssey mas é triste ver o jeito que ele esta hoje em dia. O desbalanceamento ta outro nível tipo, eu fui lutar contra um mago de PEDRA e ele simplesmente solta uma magia que a range é a ilha de Sameria inteira! E o dano é 300 pra cima, isso me deixa desanimado pra jogar. O fator das combinações também me deixa bravo, porque eu escolhi a magia de água, mas ela só é boa com MAGO, eu não posso ser conjurer ou warlock porque é muito fraco, e como eu disse acima é praticamente impossivel lutar contra os meta braindead, a gameplay repetitiva já ta me fazendo enjoar do jogo denovo. E namoral essa comunidade ta ficando pior do que a de Deepwoken na minha opinião

I like your point, but the idea of balancing the magics is kinda bad. That would kill the variety in the game imo. I like using magma because it's big and hard-hitting. But magma is slow, that's fine because it's balanced. If I didn't want slow, I would play a fast magic with lower damage. But yeah, meta-mancing is 100% killing the game.

Acredito que o Vetex tá levando o jogo pra um rumo muito nichado, que é o PvP. Por mais que o Roblox esteja abarrotado de jogos PvP como battlegrounds e etc, o Arcane é, inicialmente, um RPG. Com os muitos atributos que o jogo quem (power, defenser, size e etc) o lategame se traduz no que voce disse: nerds que querem ficar trocando tapa. O público que se interessa por isso no Roblox, por mais fiel que seja, é a minoria. A maioria quer jogar o jogo pela história ou pra ter o que fazer com os amigos, se tratando de PvE, sem ser jogar poder um no outro. O pior é que se não for os SEUS amigos e você for procurar amizade no jogo vai dar de cara com um dos tryhard que ainda jogam pelo PvP e vai tomar uma cacetada do tipo "Pq voce ta usando tal build? Ou tal magia?". Complicado. Eu acredito que ainda dê tempo de arrumar isso, mas se bobear o jogo vai virar só mais um RPG pra quem é viciado e perde tempo o suficiente criando build astronomicamente eficientes em derreter a vida de outro jogador, tanto é que a maioria dos patchs do jogo são nerfando e buffando atributos de mágicas/classes ao invés de adicionar conteúdos de farm ou eventos pra fazer algo diferentes além de matar NPC.
