An Alaskan Native told me about this and I used it when I was stung by a yellow jacket. Unless you are actually allergic (in which case, treat the systemic reaction first), having some loose tobacco around is invaluable. Make a paste with the tobacco and a little water and put the paste on the sting and everywhere the skin is irritated. You can bandage it to keep it on and contain the mess. It is shocking how quickly and effectively the pain eases and the swelling goes down. Even for yellow jacket stings.
My Dad did that for my cousin. She had several stings and were better by the next morning.❤️✝️🕊🙏🏼
I recently went to the beach and sprayed myself with peppermint oil (not diluted) It kept the mosquitoes off but that made my skin tingle more than I liked. That reminded me of showering with Dr. Bronner!! Spiders also don’t like peppermint, so I spray the cloth mop with diluted oil when I go on a campaign to remove cob webs.
Make a paste with tumeric powder and water it stains but in very effective in stings and big bites that itch .
I am 67, never had a bad reaction like i did this year to one sting in my upper arm, NP said she is seeing more elevated reactions.
I was told the poison chemical accumulates in you body, and you never know when it will build up enough to cause an allergic reaction.
Peppermint is used in mouthwash, toothpaste, it's very safe! even in high doses. Unless you are allergic
In the Autumn they are more aggressive in my yard. Essential oils penetrate into skin. Oil is a carrier.. just remember it will stain clothing. Great points on mucus membranes.

I am over 50 and recently requested the venom allergy tests. I am allergic to paper wasps. So, now I have an Epipen set.
I highly recommend that EVERYONE get the serum tests. I go to Allergy Partners. They have offices all over the country.
Next we will do intradermal tests to determine if we will add the immunotherapy venom shots.
I'm doing immunotherapy shots for environmental allergies. Immunotherapy shots are customized to the individual and only contain the allergens and saline, no meds and no preservatives.

I approached my chicken coop and found the wasps were building a nest in the wall. I hadn't got within 20 feet when several charged me and one got me. Never seen them so aggressive. And was like my arm was on fire. My arm yellowed and swelled. Lasted a few days. Was a hell of a hit. Shouldn't have lasted so long.
If this stuff works with yellow jackets, my visits to the crag dock will become a joy and relief.

Spray it on your clothes, not your skin. Reduces the possibility of a reaction. Straight Peppermint oil on clothes, also seems to help repel mosquitoes.

I got stung by I think a wasp on my right finger. It started swelling in my hand and almost to my elbow. 😮 I have Never had this kind of reaction. It took about 3 days to go completely down. I took Benadryl. So when they come at you for No reason it’s time to remove the threat. 🤬

You are always very careful with warnings. Just wanted to add that peppermint oil should be kept away from children. It is NEUROTOXIC. I know a child who has permanent brain damage after drinking just a small bottle.
Definitely want to keep out of reach from children in pure form.
