  • Gabon: The Future of Human Medicine | Zimbabwe's Rising Blueberry Industry | Resurgent Africa
Gorillas' self-medicating practices have provided valuable insights into medicine, which has aided scientific studies. According to a recent study conducted in Gabon, gorillas in the Moukalaba-Doudou National Park eat particular plants that are high in antimicrobials and antioxidants. These plants, which include the fig tree, African teak, big yellow mulberry, and fromager tree, are also used by traditional healers to treat a variety of illnesses. This finding emphasizes both the unexplored medical knowledge in African rainforests and the intelligence of big apes. In a similar vein, a Malaysian orangutan was seen using medicinal plants to treat a wound-a first for a wild animal. These results highlight the importance of researching wildlife in order to make future medical advancements.

Thank you for good news! I tried to get Miami Beach to stop plowing sea weed into the shore, causing the lighter sandy loam to wash out to sea, by encouraging collection of the sea weed for composting with manure for healthy organic farming. But the contrators were making lots of money trucking new sand to feed the shrinking shoreline.
