Saying that none of those men are criminals simply because they don't have a criminal record has to be the definition of gaslighting. What they did is a crime, therefore they are all criminals.
Well… giving the statement the benefit of the doubt: it’s descriptive to the fact that they’ve presently never been convicted of a crime and are still innocent until proven guilty. To name them criminals, despite what one might feel personally, as a journalist, would be incorrect reporting and manipulating an opinion. It’s a tight rope to walk to provide an unbiased report. The whole of the report clearly indicates that the crime itself is horrendous. They then allow other “experts” explain, quite clearly, the various aspects surrounding this crime.
I agree. I hope that once the case has completed and the perpetrators found to be guilty, their faces and names are all plastered all over the Internet - they don’t deserve anonymity. However I do feel for their family members and hope the local communities will treat the family members with compassion.
A person who has been accused, but not proved guilty has their identity concealed, until the verdict is handed down. In cases of unfounded accusation, the stigma of the accusation is enough to destroy the accused's life. That is the down side of revealing it, and is considered more weighty than the honesty of revealing who is being accused. I think that's a good decision.
50 men were easily identified on the videos and arrested by the French police. those are the men in court now. But approximately 80+ men are on video abusing Gisele. So there are approximately 30+ more men for which the police are still searching and need to be brought to justice.

This case is so shocking and heartbreaking and yet Gisèle has restored my faith in humanity. She knowingly fighting for the rights of victims globally at such a huge expense to herself when it is not done usually.
Unfortunately I’m not shocked at all that these cretins crawl out from under rocks to make their opinions heard. Many men have a deep hatred for women, even ones who aren’t supposed to. They feel a sense of entitlement over them. This is why they r*pe, k!ll and control due to misogynistic views of women. They’re a disease on the planet and as women are the majority, we should all rise up against them. The problem is men need women more than women need men, otherwise they would have wiped us out altogether. Their main aim is to take what they can from women and give little to nothing back, meanwhile most women give, care and nurture. Men take and destroy.
So many men harbor hostile feelings towards women. An even larger number of men are unable to see women as full people, they see us as natural support systems, servants, breeders and seks objects there for men's needs. Beware of dogs.
After hearing about the cases of Telegram groups around the world where men shared videos of their own mothers, sisters, wives and daughters in their own homes I'm not shocked anymore. These groups numbered hundreds of thousands of men. The male mind is capable of all kinds of horrors.
Honestly, the scariest part of this whole case is that he wouldn't have been caught if those women didn't notify the security at the grocery store about him taking pictures/recording under other women skirts 😭😢

I’m a mom of an underage daughter who was abused (raped) several times. The law in Mexico does not constitute those acts as rape but as “estupro,”which means rape of a lessen category 🙄 Even though she was groomed by a 45 year old man the law says it is estupro and the penalties hardly include jail time. To make a long story short I was able to pursue the case and go to trial until the end and he did a year and a half jail time. He’s now free with restrictions. That is short of a miracle here in Mexico. As a result of being abandoned by the law and society I created a Non Profit organization to help all victims of abuse, specially those who lack the monetary means for their legal defense. My daughter is ok now and listening to all of you and Mrs. Pericot has given me the strength and courage I need to pursue our mission which is to turn abuse victims into survivors. May god be with all abuse victims. 🙏🏻
In Ireland that's 'statutory rape' meaning there's no defense a man or woman can give to mitigate what they did, it's rape end of, no discussion. Now they do try to bring in defenses but it's not entertained by the courts, rape a minor, it's rape end of, no legal arguments you're found guilty and face a full 10 years at the least, they will take into account, a few things, she said she was older, she looked older, she was in a place where only over 21's are allowed but there still guilty of rape, they might get a month or two off sentence, stops a lot of grooming when it's statutory rape. The minor CANNOT CONSENT, they are too young to consent. 17 is the legal age of consent, any age under that is statutory rape.

it happens everywhere. the film Women Talking was about a case in ultra-conservative mennanite community - 8 men charge with drugging and raping over 150 women and girls (3 - 65 years) over 5 years. women in comas are sexually assualting very often. many morgues won't employ men, or let them work alone, because they will abuse the corpses. there are writings in ancient egypt specifiying that attractive young women should not be embalmed immediately, in order that the body can decay a little and becoming less enticing to the embalmer. this isn't a modern thing, it has nothing to do with porn.
90% of men have these non-consensual sexual fantasies. From my perspective, I know that the beginning of the MeToo movement helped me in that regard. It is so heartbreaking to hear that most rapists are people closest to you - true in my case as well.
Who are "the men"? - Do you mean ANY man should feel personally guilty because he is a "male"? - Solidarity between ALL males (or all "females"!) is demented. Feminism makes sense against pushing people into such roles. When I think about such solidarity I imagine something like that group of rapists. I don't want to feel solidarity with "the men" and say something in their name. - Of course I regret that I personally wasn't in a position to help and that others didn't help either! But my moral outrage and solidarity with the victim I express it in my own name exclusively, unrelated to my nationality or gender! --- On the other hand, "the men" of that village or what the hell it is should say something - and the women too - because it is hard to believe nobody knew anything. ---
My gratitude to this woman is never ending, this happened to me but I waa never believed. Her report helped validated my experience. Merci bien madame ❤❤❤❤
My heart is breaking for Gisele Pelicot. I sometimes try to make sense of the world through numbers, but in this case, it’s unsettling. Typically, men comprise about 48-50% of the population. In Manzan there are approximately 6,000 residents. Considering a 50 km radius, the number of men aged 26-74 in Manzan and the surrounding area could range from 1,200 to 3,000. Among these, 90 men are accused to have raped Gisele. That’s about 3% of the men, and it’s utterly crushing. It’s not a village of rapists, it’s probably just an accurate representation of how many man would involve themselves in such disgusting acts anywhere else.
I think what makes it worse is that Gisèle ex husband stated 7/10 men he asked were happy to partake in her abuse which means that there were men who knew what was happening to her and chose to ignore...
This case is as much about sex trafficking as it is about rape, the husband should also be charged with drugging his wife, endangering his wife, human trafficking and domestic abuse! Men have been coercing woman and girls for centuries into making pornography and pornography leads to many perversions, dehumanizing women and encourages men to think that women like this, and that if they don’t, they are not desirable women! This case is going to be very important and Giselle is so brave, I think it is ironic that she will awaken many to the horrible things men will do to the unconscious and non-consenting!
The widespread acceptance of this in our society that makes 80 men think this is ok to do to someone. Sexual violence shouldn’t be just a women’s issue men need to start actually calling each other out.
Well said, and not just call them out, report them, there has to be men in that village who knew what was going on, and turned a blind eye instead of making a report to authorities.
All the comments here should show it’s not wide spread acceptance. People are outraged however sick people will always find a way for their sickness. Normal people just need to be better at defending ourselves and voicing our outrage and fighting back so these sick people will learn to get healthy instead of giving in to their sickness and depravity

The Mayor's comment that 'nobody died' after 70+ men raped Gisēle in her own home by the invitation of her 'husband', is not only untrue it is also part of the problem, that yet again - a man - views the most serious of crimes committed against women (after murder) as 'non-specific, she'll get over it' attitude. Gisèle - the woman that was - died after being raped by those men. She will never again be the woman that she was, after they violated her physically, mentally, and spiritually. That woman, was. She's gone. This Gisèle you see before you, is a version of her former self, an adaption fighting to survive after THEY RAPED HER. Even the man who walked away, even though he did not take part, he allegedly subjected his own wife to rape , with Gisèle's husband taking part. So, he's still 'connected' to the crime. What about the drs that she was seeing with STD's and complaining that she felt unwell with a foggy brain. Why didnt they ever suspect something was wrong. Where did they think she was getting a STD from.
It's simple. Rape was never suspected by the doctors because she allways woke up next to her husband every morning. They never did rape kits on her because she was with her husband. Her husband has allways been unfaithfull and she knew about it. So she asumed he got it from a sex worker or on of his mistresses.

Patriarchal culture harms everyone. Rape culture goes hand in hand with the patriarchy due to the placement of one gender over another and the power imbalances that come with this inequality. This trial is horrifying and yet not surprising given the billions of women and children throughout time who have had their autonomy taken away and their psyches and bodies used as if they were not alive. Rape and reproductive rights are also integrally linked and were one is seen as not serious the other is also not seen as important. This report is far overdue and so extremely important.
It not just one gender against another. It defines being a man as being dominant, aggressive, obsession with ego, power and control and hypersexual. This plays out in gay rape also. They also drug gay men too.
The patriarchy tells men to have sex as much as possible, shames them for sex and tells them to repress their sexual expression. Basically creates dysfunctional and criminal behaviours in men... They do the same thing in the gay community and the men are treated worse for reporting gay rape. It's more rare among women.

In fact, Gisèle divorced her husband to protect the "family" wealth when he became bankrupt, then remarried him later. So I guess the woman is not considered property.

Absolutely.
And if these men would do something like this, no telling what else they have been up to.
And it makes no sense. There's always the first time for every criminal. No one's born with a criminal record.
Those men are also trafficking their own wives
Why are these men allowed to cover their faces and not be named? Why protect them?

90% of men have these psychologically violent and physically violent fantasies/impulses. The patriarchy tells them that they must repress sexual emotion and sexual expression while being sexually aggressive and sexually control and dominate as many female representatives as possible.
What's sick is that it's MUCH MUCH more than 80 men globally.
In other programs I've watched about this case, they said the husband was also secretly filming his daughter and daughter in law when they were changing their clothes or in the bathroom. If true, it makes we wondering what else he has done.

His daughter believes she was drugged and also raped!
He's also being investigated for at least one rape that happened in the past, there are also suspicions that he might be a murderer.
He also helped at least one man to drug and rape that man's wife, but she didn't press charges. He was caught because he was filming women in the mall, so yes, there's a lot more that's just being unraveled.

Sounds like he was in on it.
She's gone.
This Gisèle you see before you, is a version of her former self, an adaption fighting to survive after
THEY RAPED HER.
Even the man who walked away, even though he did not take part, he allegedly subjected his own wife to rape , with Gisèle's husband taking part. So, he's still 'connected' to the crime.
One rapist, is one too many and why the MeToo movement thrives across the world, as women are subjected to being thought of as 'objects' not as equal human beings deserving of respect.
May Gisēle eventually receive justice and find solace & peace along the path to healing ahead.

Defensive, and toxic positivity. No compassion for the victim
🎯 You have spoken well!!!
Men are dangerous and not trustworthy
It not just one gender against another. It defines being a man as being dominant, aggressive, obsession with ego, power and control and hypersexual. This plays out in gay rape also. They also drug gay men too.
The patriarchy tells men to have sex as much as possible, shames them for sex and tells them to repress their sexual expression. Basically creates dysfunctional and criminal behaviours in men... They do the same thing in the gay community and the men are treated worse for reporting gay rape. It's more rare among women.
This is sex trafficking as well..

Nothing to do with photos of a cold case. The husband was caught by a security guard in a shopping center, filming under women skirts. He stopped him and ask the women to do a police report, which some did. One policeman decided to take it further by doing a search and taking all of D. Pelico's devices.
In hus computer they found thousands of photographs of his sleeping wife with up to 82 different men. That's important to know. If that security guard and this particular policeman didnt go all the way, this crime would have never been found.

There are thousands of men like this, but they are far from the majority. There are men supporting Gisèle in court, men are taking part in the protests in support of her.
No they are the majority . If its not rape it is something else. They make Womens lives miserable. Married men are the happiest but the women usually not. They run for the hills. They are maids. They dont get the romantic experience they wish to have. They utter their hate and disrespect in many ways and violence is just one of them@@pynn1000
They make the lives of women hard or they make an end to it brrr
I have always wondered 🤔, if they loathe women that much, why not keep their penises to themselves!!!😡🤬
Absurdly, criminally evil.
Not even close to consensual.
Violence against women should also be tried as a hate crime! We stand with you Giselle ❤ and watching the world is watching.
Now that those men have been found guilty, their faces need to be shown.
If the victim waives anonymity, then the defendants should not have the option to choose it, especially after the guilty verdict.
How sick and unleashed can some men be? It's frightening really. This woman has crazy strength and dignity.
90% of men have these types of fantasies. They either repress them and take up other maladaptive coping strategies or the smart ones stay single and join sex and swingers clubs. I'm part of the alternative sexual lifestyle community. We have workshops on sexual consent and sexual expression and aftercare.
Thank you France 24 and to Gisèle Pélicot and the brave and wise women that are helping enlighten and enliven we men towards standing up for women. The abuses must end! We all suffer for them.
good, I am glad some men don't think this is acceptable behaviour
@@beaulieuc8910 Well over 99% of men don't think this is acceptable behaviour.
Thank you for covering this case and giving a voice to this woman’s pain.
They absolutely should not be given any right to privacy when you are talking about sex crimes
💯

It’s enlightening watching a news segment that’s thoughtful and critical discuss important global /societal issues.
