- ajmvideography.com - My second video showing the beautiful city of Ashland Oregon. The city, known for the Shakespeare Festival, Ashland Film Fest, Lithia Park and scenic mountains with Ashland Creek flowing through the town and of course great restaurants as well as University of Southern Oregon.
Aerials filmed on a DJI Phantom 4 in D-Log in 4K at 30fps.
Also filmed on a Canon XC10 in 4K in C-Log at 30fps.
The Canon XC10 was on a IKan Beholder DS1 gimbal stabilizer.
Edited in Apple's Final Cut Pro X.

As someone who lives in Ashland, this place is beyond amazing (so far). All the deer you see every day, the Shakespeare Festival, the restaurants, Lithia Park is the best about this place. The natural beauty of the parks is what i like most.

Nice video, Alan. Went to college there in the early 1980's. Still dream from time to time of those precious years in Ashland. Lithia Park was where I deprogrammed from the troubling memories of Vietnam. Me and my little dog Brandy spent many a precious occasion at that little piece of PARADISE on earth.
I live in California and we are going here for a field trip. I am leaving tomorrow and coming back Friday, it is Tuesday now, but I’m so excited to go and see the Shakespeare festival!

I love this place. Was here in 2015 for a few days and it was one the most beautiful towns I saw. Will be back here one day.
I went to the college in Ashland in 1982 and 1983 . I love Ashland so much, unforgettable place.
How do you think it would be for someone moving there from California? Someone over 60?

Cute town, very Shakespearean as the festival is held there. My son from Hi. attends SOU. Quite expensive. People are friendly and whenever I visited I enjoyed my stay.

I have lived there two times. I only don't like one thing, the traffic on main in the summer time. otherwise it is really nice place to live. a tad expensive but it is worth it

How difficult is it to get to the Oregon coast from Ashland? There doesn’t seem to be any direct way or at least a year round road to the coast?

It takes about 3ish hours depending on where you want to go, but the road is pretty windy.

The big problem with Ashland is your three hours away from Civilization. The closest town with any sign of intelligent life is Eugene. I’m sorry to bust your bubble, but there is really NOTHING in Southern Oregon worth seeing (other than Ashland), and believe me when I say, you start coming down with ‘Island fever’ after about 9 months of Ashland. I lived in Ashland for two years, and the revolving door of tourists just keep coming. They wander Litha Park like zombies with Iphones taking pictures of other tourists with Iphones.. They smile; you smile back. (God help you when they strike up a 'pleasant conversation'.) As a resident, you begin to feel like your on the crew of the ‘LOVE BOAT’ greeting the arrivals. I've heard a fair share of locals pumping sunshine up the tourist's ass, ‘THIS IS THE best place on Earth! Yada Yada Yada...’ I myself fell victim of this happy nonsense and then when I moved out of Ashland, I understand why. When your trapped in a cult. You want to trap others. After about 2 year, I realized it was time to escape the cult and return to 'real life'. I'm not really happier now (in 'real life';) but at least I'm not on the crew of the Love Boat.
Where did you move to?
I grew up in Ashland, it was a lovely place then and is even more so now. The Rogue Valley isn't close to any major city. As for your example of Eugene, where I went to college, I would not agree, except for the University, it's not the most stimulating place. To enjoy a large city, you're going to have to travel to Portland or San Francisco.

I got panhandled by tie-dye groups with dogs and nearly got hit crossing a 3-lane highway that is Main Street. Can you say OVERRATED?

I was born here. Sad to see how it’s gone downhill. The cool vibe that made Ashland Ashland has been gone for a while now. Which is funny because people moved here because “they liked it” yet ruined what made Ashland Ashland. Then complain about everything not being as cool as in California.
What is Ashland like and what contribution do you contribute?
Looks like some Californians joined the chat. If you lived here in the 80s and 90s you would understand. The town just does not have the laid back style that it use to have before it became Discovered by the Californians. Ashland is an amazing town right now, but it use to be way more amazing!
