The easiest way to make a robot arm base

  • I'm designing and 3d printing a robotic arm to hold a camera and make graceful camera movements - like those Bolt Motion Control robot arms that everyone seems to use these days.
    In this video I 3d print the base using eccentrically cycloidal gears!
    These are the supplies I used:
    NEMA 17 stepper: amzn.to/3gtK3Qd
    Arduino Mega: amzn.to/3nx3Oui
    5mm steel rod: amzn.to/3HMBGeV
    Thin wall bearings: amzn.to/3gtYLqG
    and: amzn.to/3H7JPZY
    1.75mm PLA+ filament: amzn.to/3HvzVT5
    The PTFE grease came from eBay - search for "50g silicone PTFE grease"

    The accuracy and smoothness of these gears are so satisfying! Always a treat to see another mechanism of yours

      Yeah, I love these gears - I knew I had to include them in the arm somewhere!

    I did want to 😉👍
    And I did also want to tell you that this is the smoothest low cost gear assembly for robot arms I have seen.
    So well done. And beautifylly presented too.

    You make this all seem so easy. I've been shying away from attempting a 3D printed robot arm, but recently the urge is coming back to me and then I landed on your channel. Can't resist any longer!

      @@roTechnic The bike shop teached me this trick when I needed a temporary solution for when my steering head bearing broke, just put a bunch of grease around it and place induvidual balls in the grease all around the tube head and they'll stay in place until assembling back the topcap!

    • @roTechnic

    In terms of algorithmic design ie. Inverse Kinematics, what are the best places to get started?

    • @roTechnic
      @roTechnic  2 роки тому

      If it's for robot arms, then I'd probably start by reading some of the guides for the MoveIt project moveit.ros.org/

      @aiyushg1769 2 роки тому
