These seem to be an underrated classic , my father had a Standard 8 and I have good memories of this car.

    Excellent job Alex!
You are the rescuer of classics; modern or true classics, you at least try to save them all.
This is such a lovely Standard!

Actually, in the sixties, our familiy had an IDENTICAL one, colour, grille, and all! We travelled all the way to Switzerland in it, without trouble, to visit our relatives there! Nice to see an identical car again! Good luck with YOURS!

Actually, Alex, but now I'm mentioning it, if you think about it - perhaps you have noticed already that these cars "seem to be the most waterproof cars ever".
That is to say, if you WASH the car FROM THE TOP DOWN, i.e. pour a bucket of water over the ROOF, the water cascades evenly down in ALL directions. It's as if the designer made every surface SLOPE. So they're easy cars to clean! (Does that make sense?) If not, you'll see what I mean, when you do it!

Very commendable, that you're de-rusting the brake drums!

You should change the brake and clutch fluid totally for safety on the older cars and don't forget the prop shaft nipples looks like a good one you have there.

Excellent work. I mentioned Old Classic Car as someone to have a look at on the last video. Do treat yourself to some knee pads 🤪

The Fifties Standards are super little cars, advanced for their time with flashing indicator rather than arms sticking out!

Loverly little car, you want name suggestions, well when you was talking about the previous owner you refered to him as old boy now that would be a nice connection to him with the car going forward and it looks a old boy. Shame about the plate not being original I'd have a tiny plate made up and have it under the bonnet with the original reg number on. If not old boy do you know his name. Think as he treasured the car he should be apart of it really looking forward to more videos

Sadly I dont know the owners name. No real history apart from the photos and old mots. Thank you so much!

Hi alex, just came across your channel. Thank you your videos I really am enjoying, so far I've watched the ambassador series, the standard 10, great little car and I've watched the allegro engine swop. Alex you have changed my opinion I have always disliked allegro,s but I've a new found fondness for them, the simple of the engine It's how cars should be. I'm also a fan of tasty classics, and I watch Alex with her p6 and p4 as well. Looking forward to more videos, you present well and very informative.

Ooh Alex, we could watch you all day, twisting nuts and greasing nipples!
Actually I like the length of your ... videos ;-), so you made the right call not showing every wheel being freed!
Great to see you have success - far more positive video than when you're struggling with poor Sparky! I hope you do have the spirit to try again. When you swapped George's engine did you sell the old one - I guess swapping gearboxes is quite hard even if you still have George's old one.
Have you chosen a name for your Standard 10? Is Ben 10 in your era?
Did you find out any more about the other number plate - does the paperwork give you clues as to where the garage the car was sold as new was located?
