Tarikh is a daily Hindi programme in which we present you with incidents and stories of noteworthy persons and Incidents. In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about Laika, a Soviet space dog that became the first animal to orbit the Earth. She was a stray dog from the streets of Moscow and was selected for the space mission in 1957 as part of the Soviet Union's Sputnik 2 program. The mission was launched on November 3, 1957, and Laika was placed in a capsule aboard the spacecraft.
The capsule lacked a re-entry system, which meant that Laika was not expected to survive the mission. The Soviet authorities initially claimed that Laika had died painlessly after a week in orbit, but it was later revealed that she had died from overheating and stress just a few hours after the launch.
Laika's mission was a significant achievement in the history of space exploration, as it paved the way for human spaceflight. However, it also sparked controversy and criticism over the ethics of using animals in space research, and raised questions about animal welfare in scientific experiments.

The story of Lyka was very touching. Imagine finding yourself marooned on a remote island with so sign of life and one can really feel the pain of Lyka when she was put into that capsule. Lyka must be watching the humans hidden behind the clouds and cursing the mankind.

Laika died of High heart rate and High heat but these kind of death is nothing when we compare to other experimental death of animal or even on Human, Humans are very cruel if there is no law or control we might witness crimes which is unimaginable.
