He contended that he had not died but had abandoned his previous life to become a wandering monk. The case gained widespread attention and led to a prolonged legal battle between the claimant and the legitimate heirs of Ramendra Narayan Roy. The trial lasted for almost two decades and involved extensive investigations, testimonies, and debates over the identity of the claimant.
The court proceedings garnered significant public interest and media coverage, making it one of the most sensational legal cases of its time. After a prolonged legal battle, the court ultimately ruled in favour of the claimant, recognizing him as the real Ramendra Narayan Roy.
However, the Bhawal case remained a topic of controversy and speculation for years to come, with some doubting the court's decision and insisting that the claimant was an imposter. The case has since been a subject of fascination for historians, researchers, and legal experts, exploring various aspects of identity, inheritance, and the complexities of the legal system.
