@@lorrainethomas1984 YES! 👍🏾💯👍🏾 Too bad the younger generation doesn't know what real music is today. 😣 I Don't Know what they call it these days. The music started to get real "ratchet" in the mid to late 90's. I didn't even care for the Sugar Hill Gang when they first came out back in the day when my friends and I were clubbing. Although, that was when rap was a lot cleaner back then. Oops, I think I just told you how old I am! LOL! 😂 They don't even have groups and bands like that anymore. Hi-5 changing management teams was the worst thing they could have done. It was the beginning of the group's curse. Jonathan Kinloch was an enabler who let the group do whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted.
But their original management was ripping them off big time. They were signed to a production contract- just like New Edition was at MCA Records before they bought their way out of that deal, which is nothing more than legalized slavery. The original management, who was working for Hi-Five, got all of their money before them and gave them an allowance while pocketing the rest. A damned if they did, damned if they didn't scenario.

@@eugenedantzler4485 "Unconditional Love" really to me is the best ballad that Tony really ripped the scales. Nothing you can teach, just natural. Belt it out best i can and think back on homecoming dances, ha. Really wish he was still around. I'm so glad channels like this are keeping these spirits alive and we can all connect. Wish he could have seen the respect he finally got he was due.
@@aronb7999 Agreed, Unconditional Love is my anthem from back in the 90's. Add the fact it was on the Menace II Society soundtrack, I think it sums up the movie well. Like everyone from my generation, I miss the 90's and the talent, the music, the movies...just life in general.
@@aronb7999 i wish he never got addicted to drugs. Giant records made a huge mistake on doing Hi 5 dirty.

Yes they need a Hi-Five movie for sure
RIP to Roderick ‘Pooh’ Clark and Tony Thompson! Hi-Five’s music will always bring great memories and good times.
His Voice Was SO Beautiful. Such An Amazing Singer. It's So Tragic He Went Out Like That, R.I.P Tony Thompson 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Yes, it was SO beautiful. And I think that where Tevin Campbell's voice was soft, delicate and crystalline, Tony and H-Town's Dino's voice brought a naturally masculine energy that I can't say I've experienced since.

I thought the same but after watching unsung, a biopic will hard to watch.

I actually met Toriano when I was kid around 15 turning 16. He came to see my father right before he died of cancer(they were apparently really cool back in the day). Was brief but I remember him being a pretty cool guy for the little time I talked to him.

No shade the Jackson 5/Jackson's was the greatest boy band of all time.
Facts
There will never be a band like J5 ever again.
If it wasn't for Michael Jackson and the J5 Never paving the ways Tony Thompson and HI5 would have never existed. So yes the music 🎶 industry is going down in hell if you ask me. Especially now that both Micheal and Tony arent with us. I hate to say it but it's FACTS!!

What do u mean, so much happened, behind the scenes
Tony was 31 i was 36 when he passed on i was so heartbroken and traumatized by this event, he couldn't cope with all the disappointments that were coming his way lets just say he couldn't stand to be Rejected especially by his former group members that was the ladt straw basically but i am not understood why he didn't get back into the church were he started. I am not judging him but he could have been stronger for all of the people who loved him including his fans. TonyThompson you will always be loved by me and respected continue to rest well with God tell my daughter mother sister and grandmother i said hi and sing for them in that heavenly choir i know Hod has you in baby.
Met them many years ago on the campus of NCCU. Tony, had the limousine driver stop and roll down the roof and said "What's up fellas!" , to me and my boys that I was hanging out with after 🏫. I was/still am a big admirer of The Hi-Five 🎵 catalog. This cat was on the verge of being one of the great lead vocalists in 🎵 history! 😇

YES! I went to a lot of concerts back then. Today's music industry sucks big time. Tony Thompson may be gone too soon, but, he is most definitely, not forgotten. 🎶🎤🎶 May he R.I.P. Much love. 😘💕😘
Sometimes Tony Thompson looked sad / sadd / concerned etc…..
This hit me so hard cuz this reminds me of the best days of my life. RIP Tony and other members 😢
This was a great story about him. I unfortunately didn't learn of his death until 2021. From that point I knew it was a reason I didn't really like music anymore because it's not the same. Tony is part of my generation and this REALLY saddened me and it still does when I think about it. When I hear
The song "The Kissing Game" its bitter sweet to me because I'm not Sad but I go back to high school in my head.
R.I.P TONY!!!
IKR it is very very very sad this broke my 💙 then, and still breaks my heart till this very day.
Drugs 👀 no color when it wants to ruin a life especially with stars, but it seems to affect stars of the minority in a major & tragic way because they came from the struggle scratching struggling with nothing like not eating, or living out.of cars to make a better life for themselves & their families, but to most of all live out a dream from childhood smh 😔.
Also Mr. Montana it hots home because me & Tony are.the same age just 6 months apart 😢😰😥😭😱.

So sad to hear about Tony Thompson so successful and talented alongside his group rest in peace 🙏🏿
Highlights
- Tony Thompson would've had next if he hadn't passed away.. I still have his CD and "handle our business" is a low key banger
- my high school years would've been so different without, "Quality time" and "Unconditional love" they had so many tracks but these two.. lawd Jesus I was so in love lol
- Unconditional love is one of the best songs on the menace to society soundtrack
- and this group just went thru so much.. I pray those who have gone on are truly in peace.
- Great video as always ❤️
They were at my Senior Day in 1993....Disney World

Hi-5 changing management teams was the worst thing they could have done. It was the beginning of the group's curse. Jonathan Kinloch was an enabler who let the group do whatever they wanted, whenever they wanted.
But their original management was ripping them off big time. They were signed to a production contract- just like New Edition was at MCA Records before they bought their way out of that deal, which is nothing more than legalized slavery. The original management, who was working for Hi-Five, got all of their money before them and gave them an allowance while pocketing the rest. A damned if they did, damned if they didn't scenario.
@@IceManLikeGervin The only thing I heard about Vincent Bell and Robert Ford was that they were too strict. They were the ones that turned down one of those major tours because HI-5 were underage at that time.
