@@_cybik well honkai story from ch 1 - 4 actually sucks, but if you can pass that and reach ch 7+ the story will be really good, like i mean so good that it puts many anime to shame. also this game will drive you emotionally nuts, remember to always bring your tissue when playing the story. the lore is really complicated you need to read the manga, visual novel to understand everything, but it will blow your mind just how big is the lore of the story. overall its a really good game, the gacha is a bit predatory but at least there is no 50/50 pity. you should give it a try!
The artifact system from Genshin Impact kind of turned me off but I'm going to play it anyways just for the experience. Excellent casual review as usual Sean, glad to see you back.
nice review, very well made video, not like some youtuber that is just trying to hype the game, very honest opinion on the game. you deserve a like and a new subscriber, keep up the great work man!
Great Review Im gonna try it out when it comes out and see if I will enjoy it... Grinding in the game isn't gonna put me off because you can't play any game where you don't grind honestly. The only thing i wish they could add is: for grinding out your gears, allow us to get multiple things at once(like with a skip button) where we can use alot of our Stamina/Resin in one go and get multiple artefacts. That wouldn't make it that much of a grind honestly because having to keep on playing the same stages over and over and over really puts me off in genshin
the gear grinding part right now is a little bit ridiculous because you dont even have multi runs or a simple "replay" button but you have to awaken the boss manually again which waste a lot of time .... Hope it gets better !
when i heard HSR is gonna release soon i was so excited and when i realize it was turn based rpg game it got my hopes down a bit and when i heard it's semi open world it got my hopes up again so uhhh also finally a game i can be a f2p and not struggle to do stuff
Been play summoners war for 6 years and tbh there is too much content and I can't handle all of them And currently play genshin but less content so Idk what to do after finish my dailies Might try this game because I really like building a character like you said when finish build a character with right efficient stat the dopamine hit hard Hopefully the content is enough, not too much like summoners war but not too less like genshin
the "content" part will probably be similar to genshin, main quests -> side quests -> some exploration -> tower mode/abyss and you just farm till next patch
for those who enjoy the story, it is necessary. but for those who play just because of the gameplay, it's not necessary. why is it necessary? because honkai star rail is a continuation of honkai impact although not directly but from APHO, APHO is a game in honkai impact and APHO takes place 8 years after the main story (Honkai impact) honkai was sealed on the moon. this is the order: HI 3 > APHO 1 > APHO 2 > ALIEN SPACE MANGA > APHO 3 > HSR
@@sean2b508 You play for the story right? if so, it's necessary in order to get the full experience. I just play all three games and then get the full experience
I played the first CBT and I enjoyed it as a very casual game. Wouldn't spend money on it (blame Genshin) but I would definitely play it. Being turn based makes it easier while I'm working as well unlike when I torture myself with league and smite at work and get interrupted. Character design as usual is pretty great, the animations are on point and the rates (in my cbt) weren't tooooo bad but still gacha is gacha. Pity system is more like Honkai for those that have played. Also, anyone know expected release date?
I already got trauma from unending, tedious grind of artifacts in GI for a year, and for sure not gonna play it or any similar game by MHY just to experience another trauma.
I might not play it because between Genshin Impact and Work, I won't have enough free time available.. Also, I still feel Genshin requires more player input than Turn Based games. EDIT: oh boy, just got to the part of the video about the gear and how many slots/stats there are... And all of that is RNG based.. definitely not playing it. I got Enough dealing with RNG in Genshin.
I think I have finally mastered the F2p mindset coming from being a baby whale. I'll enjoy this game till it becomes sweaty then take a break till an anniversary or something. Mihoyo isn't known to do good anniversary stuff (Honkai is an exception) so it depends. The best way to play a gacha is to play it later and ignore the FOMO.
I did stop playing e7 and genshin because of thoese stopid gear system the rng is absurd, i once farming for more than one month and still not getting the right stats i need for that character since then i am not even bother farming gear anymore just finish the story and event then uninstall.
I’m not going to download this simply because I can get RPG turn-based games that don’t require me to roll characters. I play Path To Nowhere for the story, but at the very least that wasn’t made by a money hungry monster called Mihoyo.
I've seen that the graphics in Honkai Star Rail don't excel compared to other anime games of the same genre, despite Hoyoverse owning so much more money. Instead of doing wonders Hoyoverse prefers to stay simple, and uses lots of money just for publicity or other projects, and I really can't get explanation aside from the fact that they don't put passion in their games anymore At the start I was amazed by their variety of npcs and how polished the world was, but then I saw that the latest anime open world games that are being released are at the same level if not better For example, the dialogues: in most games during dialogues they touch and interact with each other, the movements differ; while in Genshin all the characters have the same 4 hands movement (I don't have a problem with this) and the characters just rotate or just walk in different positions, making the characters look stiff and ruining a bit the story experience in my opinion. To add a good point, the camera angles during the dialogues are very well made, and help a lot making the character more natural and the scene more natural Like the characters are exaggeratedly simplistic even for being anime, you can even see their polygons if you zoom a bit It's sad that the fans are not pretending more and how this will become an hit game with not much effort
I mean it's only the beta after all so they might add more variety to dialogues and of course polishing up the world, and I'm kinda confused are you talking about Star Rail or Genshin?. Also may I ask for the examples of those games you're talking about?

Opposite for me, been looking for a replacement for Genshin, Genshin is too slow with updates and has zero challenging content. Hoping Star Rail is handled similarly to Honkai Impact 3rd and has a team behind it that listens to the players enough to make the game great. Artifact/gear system is the hell of all gacha games, it's going to exist in all of them in some shape or form.

Mihoyo's main strength i can say is their ability to make a story and to make lore, cause seriously the writers in this company is just good.
They really slept on genshins part

Not going to lie. I cried a little when I saw Himeko for the first time in the HSR beta ;-;
Gonna pass it due to the same Artifact system, im tired of grinding 1-2 months to get "One Character" gear/artifact to be atleast decent
I think you can still play it purely for the story and ignore all the grinding part or the "try-hard" content that require good artifact/relic
Everything is good in honkai star rail imo. The only bad thing is the bs artifact rng, i hope they do something about that.
Considering the Artifact RNG in Genshin Impact, unlikely. Time to get screwed by Artifact RNG all over again.
Almost every game with an artifact mechanic always have shitty rng
