If he improves his deadlift somewhere between 900-930 he can secure a safe spot in deadlift events. But he performed really well in all the events.

If he can podium like this after coming in at the back of the pack on deadlift he’ll be a real threat if he can consistently pull over 900. I’ll be excited to see the day. What a monster.

@@phillipsmith1489 He can never do well enough in the deadlift events to win the actual competitions. That as well as being 3rd or 4th in most other events, it's just not enough. He rarely gets higher than 8th place. Take the 2020 and 2023 events for example. He won 3-4 events and lost 7 points on the deadlift costing him 1st place both times. He is only 30 though, but with all these other guys coming through... He just has to hope the top guys get injured, but do you really want to win that way?

@@travishortman5473 Mateusz did that few times before, he once did 4 event wins and still didn't win, it's impressive to be that dominant, no doubt. But, I'm more impressed with Mateusz, because what he did with those stones will probably never be repeated by other athlete, or it will be very long time before someone does. In 2018 prime Thor could only shoulder it once, and even Biran Shaw couldn't do it which kinda shows how incredible shouldering it 3 times at the end of the comp is. Thor will probably retire being the greatest deadlifter of all time seeing how easy he pulled that 1006lbs.

    Post-show thoughts:
Mateusz did great, made a statement on the stone medley, and even got himself 2nd.
Wacky things happened with the Axle and stone overhead. Safe to say they're not doing stone to overhead again lol. I personally think that a decent amount of the athletes just didn't prepare as they should. Training without specific equipment or being ok with bad results in training. I felt a lack of training intelligence with this field of athletes on this show in general.
Mitch was the smartest one here in terms of training. He didn't have a weakness at this show and you can tell he trained as per the event. Not getting an injury or dropping an event basically got you podium here (which makes the show weak, imo).
Felt bad for Maxime coming in and ripping his lat on a very tame weight. Also, did Evan get injured? He opted out of the last event. Tom as well getting injured, shame. Oskar might as well have been injured, because he is NOT near the level of strength needed to compete. I mean there were really only 7 or 8 that actually were there to complete the show.
Martins looks like the dragon is being slain. His arthritis and joint problems are catching up to him badly and he is always a gamer, yet flopped hard here, even with his strengths. He literally underperformed at every event. Maybe he can come back, but with Thor not even in full swing and smoking him, I think it's safe to say Martins's chance to win a major show is over. Same for Novikov. He's either not recovering, not prepping seriously enough, or too worried about the whole Ukraine thing and not focusing on Strongman. He wasn't gonna podium anyway with this field.
The event selection was borderline anemic. Two carries? Take dinnie stones out for heavy yoke like before, and the stone medley needs a re-work because the athletes can't seem to prep for a sub-maximal stone to overhead.
Congrats to Mitch for being healthy and training well to come out and win. Congrats to Mateusz for dominating the events he is good at and making a statement that he's still one of the best. Congrats to Tom for doing good enough for a podium. And congrats to Thor for doing well first comp back. That stone medley screwed his ability to even get hardware.
