Honestly good for Kaidan. He wanted longevity in a relationship and believes in faithfulness so he put his foot down where he thought it really mattered. While I may have gone for the threesome, I respect his decision and his willingness to stick with what he believes in.

I know most would call kaiden an idiot, but if I were him I would refuse as well.
It's clear Liara is only interested in shepard, thus in the event of liara or kaiden wanting a relationship, it would be very awkward between them.
Maybe I'm weird, but if im in love with someone I want to be with them and only them, not anyone else. Kaiden and maybe liara is the same given the later games.
Lastly, he could just not be into asari, they look kinda like human women yes, but those hair tenticles, the lack of hair, and the way they mate could just not do it for him.
It's obviously a joke. If you really love someone and not willing to share or be on a polyamorous relationship it's okay, but it's a videogame. Besides, I feel like Liara would only agree to the threesome to make Shepard happy.

Basically the asari in a nutshell. I agree with that dude at the bachelor party, something's not right there. I get that, biologically speaking, a mono-gendered species (at least one so similar to humans) would essentially have to have female characteristics as we know them, for the purposes of birth, breast-feeding, etc., but Kaiden has a point. It's as if every woman in the galaxy suddenly turned bisexual (at least) the moment they met the asari.
Could be a bit of the mind control theory. Turians, Salarians, Krogan, and basically every species views them as attractive, despite them looking nothing like some of them.
@@royalknightcommander1097 I've also thought about this, and it doesn't really hold up, if you ask me. Think about it: EVERY Asari would have to be using incredibly precise illusions to simulate not only sight, but physical sensation. They'd have to make you believe, mid-coitus, that you were being intimate with a humanoid physiology. Even Reaper indoctrination isn't that advanced.
Furthermore, what about pictures and videos? There's no way that they could change all visual evidence to suit their story: they'd need to be basically omnipresent. AND the video evidence would need to match up with the other illusions: if one of them looks different in a picture than they do in reality it could tip someone off. If the Asari were this advanced and this powerful, the Reapers would frankly be no threat to them.
I think it's just a contrivance of the setting, like Superman's Clark Kent disguise. The creators wanted bisexual alien babes; it's kind of absurd, definitely feels like blatant wish fulfillment, but I don't see another explanation.
@@sumanoskae Maybe mind control is the wrong word, more like subtle and passive manipulation. They would still look the same, but in their presence any being will feel attraction. There is a biotic skill dominate which let's you control another through their nervous system, the creepy shit morinth tries to do to shepard, and the nonsense crap the protheans and leviathans can do, I think it would fit the setting.
As for the video stuff it would be an issue, but every race on the citadel saw the keepers and were like "huh, neat". Its probably a writing thing like you said but I think it's a cool headcanon.
It could also be a parasite. A parasite from the asari to the other species. In RL there is a parasite from house-cats that can alter your thinking towards cats. Toxoplasma-gondii.

I never have this confrontation, as female shepard. I would always romance Liara only as the female commander. I don't romance Kaidan, because of Virmire. Ashley is my baby. Regardless of which gender I'm playing. So I choose her over Kaidan everytime. So I just settle for the Asari. Femshep and Liara for me. I blame bioware and Virmire for why I don't romance Kaidan. We need a Virmire survivor DLC already for legendary edition. That let's us save both Ashley and Kaidan. Until that happens, Kaidan gets left out.
