I'm guessing you didn't toast the crumpets! 😄
Toast and add butter and honey (traditional). Or vary it with jam, vegemite, hummus, tzaziki, tahini, or bacon and eggs, baked beans or anything savoury.
I like hummus + tomato + gherkin. Or sardines + tomato.
