there is another way to change strings on a floyd which is amazing. A friend who worked as a luthier in Sweden showrd it to me. You change in minutes... Take the strings of completely. Disengage the springs. Take the floyd tremolo out of the guitar and put it on the table. Put the the strings on the floyd. Re attach it to the posts. The ends of the strings will be in the air but they will be long! Put them on the tuners obviously. Now re-attach the springs on the tremolo. Tune the guitar and that is it. Much faster. If you use the same brand of strings and gauge you usually will not need to make any adjustment.
With Floyd Rose guitars( and all guitars really) I just change one string at a time. Way easy and I should know because I run a drywall business and have a tenth grade education.
My dad is 70 and retired. He is a right-hander and I am a left-hander. We are huge dime.bag fans as well as Ola England fans. How much for the southern cross hope to hear from you soon
It isn't that we like to see you fail Ola. It's that seeing someone of your stature not edit out the mistakes keeps it real and helps others to not give up after the first failure.
My Epiphone SG 61 Standard is in dire need of some love and attention, I haven't played it in about a year but it's too nice to sell. I need a cleaning kit and a hardcase for it too, next year I will!
Ola, little tip. The spring plate. You don't have to take it off to adjust spring claw. That's why the cutouts are in the plate. The screwdriver should fit through the slots. Cheers.
I'm the right buyer Ola. I live in the Philippines. Lots of talent here who cant afford a guitar like that. I have several young guys who are talented who need that guitar. It would be loved very much and used a lot.
I prefer to leave the ball ends on and thread through to the machine heads and then cut the string down by the bridge. I like to leave them a little long and then once clamped in the saddle, pull the ball end tight and tune up, getting a bunch of winds round the tuning post. This way, when I break a string down at the saddle (usually from diving and pulling up), I can unwind the string to reclamp it in the saddle, and the ball-end stops the string slipping out the tuning post when I unwind the string. Plus, no sharp string ends at the headstock end after trimming.
Ola, I understand that you didn't just start speaking English. That being said, I still continue to be impressed with how fluid and fluent you are with it.
I need to learn more about truss rods and intonation. Love cleaning and restringing my guitar, but too scared to do any more for fear of messing it up. Always end up with fret buzz and overall balanced tuning
appreciation for a person that doesn’t cut the strings when changing, kudos for unwiring the strings like a proper civilized person, thank you kind sir
Ola, The best way to prevent the bridge from dropping back into the cavity of the guitar, is to change the strings one at a time. This will prevent that issue. Hope this helps you out in the future.🤘
Can we all just thank Sir Swola Alot for putting himself through this for our entertainment knowing it will not only cause him immense pain sitting around while he works on this beautiful guitar but also the pain of stringing that Floyd Rose? Thank you for all your awesomeness, you fart sniffing badass!
I had a guitar this shape back in the very early 80's before I knew how to play. I picked it up a few times and air guitared it for a couple of months. It vanished and I cannot remember that much anymore about it. But what it was very much like this shape here but a different headstock. It was made by a brand named Memphis. I later got another Memphis that was a full V. That got broken. But I never seen any more Memphis guitars made, that I personally ever crossed. But damn that headstock on this one you have is huge!
That “kinda upbeat song in the background” is Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”. I actually thought Ola’s microphone must’ve died and he stuck that song in there so that part of the video wouldn’t just be total silence. 😆
I saw Cross #71 (not Southern) on Reverb for 11k USD (ish), as new. JFC, I'd rather get a Jem 77 for that price. What was the MSRP on these? Edit: 18 min video on a Dimebag guitar and not a single Pantera riff was played. OLA!
Dude…. I commented on your STpro video years ago telling you how I had to sell all my gear for my kids cos of the lockdown , I’m now literally scouring reverb and eBay as am finally able to buy a guitar again at last.. this feels awesomely right!!

I always jam something under the Floyd when taking off all the strings makes its less headache inducing when changing all the strings haha. Crazy how much the price has gone up on the Asian made Dime Washburn models .
If I could get any guitar in the world, it'd be that Washburn snakeskin finish Trendkill era guitar they presented to Dime in the Home Video part 3. "THREEEEEE"
Hey Ola, here's a tip, leave the ball ends on and thread the strings through the tuner posts, then just cut at the bridge end. The ball ends then act like locking tuners plus you only have to cut each string once. I've been doing this for years and works a treat, and also means you don't need as many windings around the tuner posts ,so quicker too.
Hoping your back is feeling better today brother! I know for me, part of the joy of having young children is having them walk on my back lol. It’s like having built in massage therapists! Tell the family and Pix we said hi! Loving the lefty Solar guitar!
Ola love your work mate :) but dont adjust the bridge/trem screws till you've stretched all the strings in, it'll always throw off the bridge angle. ;)
Thanks Ola !! I wanted so hard the "Ola show us cool Guitars Segment" to be back !! You could bring it back to the SWOLA too ...... (5 - 10min/guitar every week is cool too !!)
Awesome video Ola hope the back is better today yeah I need to pay attention to my guitars a little more most of them have Floyd's on them well u know what that means more time ! I been very lazy guitar player at 62 young kinda sucks I feel old Ola ugh..🎸🤘🍻☃️
I wish the Washburn Dimes were easier to get a hold of. Been a Dimebag fan since the 90's and had the pleasure of seeing them over a dozen times live, and hands down Pantera was always the best live show!!. I can't wait till Dean Zelinsky releases his version of the Dime guitar. Hopefully you'll get one and be able to review it. I know that I have already saved up, what I think will be enough, to purchase one. I can almost guarantee that they will sell out with the quickness once they become available.

Until today, I thought I was the only person who restrings their guitar starting with the 4th string! Thanks for making me feel like I'm not completely insane.
I think "almost there" is a good place to have it for recording because then it'll sound awesome without overpowering when you layer the guitars in a mix. I think the secret to Dime's squeals had something to do with a wah pedal set to a sweet spot.
i love washburn. my first guitar was budget guitar from X series. looked really slick back then (10 years ago).looked like strat ifinity without pickguard
I still never see the D100 head ANYWHERE. It's nuts how uncommon they seem to be. I have the Blacktooth 20w, and the 412 straight cab. Someday I'll complete that set!
