36mm is my favorite size watch. I have smaller wrists too so it fits me well. I could go bigger but I prefer a smaller watch. I like the vintage look of a small watch.
You guys absolutely crack me up. I love your descriptors and of course everything you say is dripping with sarcasm. A big thumbs up from me. Very entertaining narrative. Very entertaining
I can easily wear up to 44 mm watches, but ever since I tried and bought the Longines Spirit 37 mm, my taste in watches has changed. I am now only looking for under 38 mm and it might be a Nomos or Christopher ward next
Absolutely. Currently selling my Tissot gentleman for that reason. I can most definitely pull it off and it doesn't look weird, it's just not as comfortable as it could be
Can't believe you missed out on Grand Seiko. You could have had the SBGW299/207 or elegance range SBGW293 as a dress watch alternative. IWC also have the lovely little Pilot Automatic 36. Although the biggest miss for me was the Baltic MR01😢.
@@RobertKing-oq4fqyes, but once you have it, you scratch the itch …forever. Happened to me, my only Rolex, the only I wanted, since then it is my Gada watch, my island watch…you get it 😅
I do like big watches too, but have grown to also like smaller ones as well. Not only do smaller watches also look good to me, but they make the big ones feel big again, which is what I really like. A double win, in my opinion.
Others have mentioned the Smiths Everest and the Christopher Ward C63 Sealander. I would add the Grand Seiko SBGX 261/263, admittedly it’s 37 mm but having considered most of the above (6.5 inch wrist) it’s the one I’m probably going to get.
I don't quite get the excitement around Smiths Everest. Yes, it's a budget Explorer, but the customer experience is atrocious, with ultra limited shop opening and overall nonchalance (even close to rudeness) from the owner and support.
Bought a 36mm explorer 124270 and I’m done with watches. Got over a dozen to sell. Goodbye omega’s, brietling, baume & mercier, marathon, Squale, Bulova, seiko, orient etc. so glad to be doing it.
I think the best value watch here with its solid gold bezel is the Christopher Ward. 36mm is about as small as I would go on my size of wrist. My ideal size is 38mm for a dress or all-rounder watch.
The Tissot is a stunner ! I want to take this oppertunity to go off topic and allude to the Breitling Aerospace Ana-Digi featured a few videos ago. The digital functionality of this watch copies that used in the Dunhill DM7 and Rado circa 20 years ago right down to the digital font. Obviously the build is different with the Dunhill and Rado being dress watches and they were and still are beautiful examples of understated elegance. If Andrew and Tom can get a hold of these old watches it would make an interesting juxtaposition with the Breitling.
If you really wanted affordable you could have thrown in the Casio MTP-B145D 35mm available in various colourways. Cracking little watch with a PRX vibe for approx 150 AUD👍😍
I'm a little surprised that the delightful 34mm 1950s-styled Grand Seiko quartzes were not mentioned, given your proclivity for macro shots. :) Anyway, cool video, nice overview. Top bananas!
Could you maybe add chapters to your videos in the future? Would make going through em easier, sometimes I don't have time to watch the entire thing and would just like to see the watches mentioned.
I recently got a 35mm Fortis Flieger Chronograph. It's nice, but I think a lug width of 20mm is too much for a case of those dimensions. I use an 18mm strap.
Interesting that all of these watches are circular, as there's plenty of even smaller rectangular and square-faced watches that are worth considering. The JLC Reverso and Cartier Santos and Tank come to mind.
wow i just googled best 36 mm watches a couple hours ago. i got rid of my black bay 36 for a smp300 but was missing the wearability of it. dont want 2 watches with round indices so another bb36 is not an option and i'm not prepared to splurge on an explorer. At this rate I might just wait a couple years and just get the explorer.
Sorry what? My full size mens Seiko Quartz watch from the 70s is a svelte 33mm in diameter. Watches have got way too big. My Lorus at 37 is considered 'small'. Don't be silly, these watches are the correct size.
Nooo, the trend towards even larger wristwatches should continue! 50mm, 60mm oh come on guys over 80mm is really cool! 🙃Then I'm a real exotic with my vintage grandpa dress watches. 😁
How large is your wrist? I think anyone with 7.5 inches or under can wear a 36mm. My wrist is almost exactly 7 inches, and people compliment my 36mm watches far more than my 42mm watches.
It wouldn’t look like you are wearing a child’s watch, it would look like you are wearing a 2020’’s child’s watch. Also, I am noticing the “would” You’ve never tried one so…..

So while I understand size can be subjective, 36mm just doesn't look right on me. At least in my eyes. I don't like how anything larger than 42mm looks on me either. If I was someone who wears shiny bracelets (jewelry) than maybe it wouldn't bother me, but the watch is the only thing I wear so perhaps that affects my perception of the size.
Explorer forever! 36 is a great size - incredibly versatile. But its a size that's pretty unusual in most brands' lineups (Rolex excluded). Odd, because its the classic men's size and fits most medium male - ML wrists well. It wears big on a smaller male/average female wrist though, where 34 gives a similar vibe. 36 especially poorly represented by Omega. Shame. Notable square/rectangular equivalents are the Santos medium or Reverso medium. Comfort is often overlooked and 36 is soo comfy, sliding under clothes or outdoor kit so well.
I have a lot of smaller watches all around the 36mm range. I have a small wrist so they look much better on me Rolex Explorer 36mm 2021 Rolex OP 36mm Rolex Datejust 36mm Omega Seamaster 300m Mid-Size Breitling Superocean Heritage Cartier Santos 100 Zenith Elite Moonphase

Absolutely. Currently selling my Tissot gentleman for that reason. I can most definitely pull it off and it doesn't look weird, it's just not as comfortable as it could be
The smallest watch I own is 37mm and it’s comically small. 40mm+ for me.

No Lorier Falcon mentioned? Oh please.
LOVE the Tissot Seastar
Love the Nomos
Maurice Lacroix watches have shorter lugs, fitting a smaller wrist without so much a compromise on the size of the time piece itself.
Would love a cheap to expensive mechanical watch in different watch category
just for clarity and readability sake, I have to have a 40mm or above. Although some of these were quite nice indeed.
A lot of those watches will wear well on most any wrist or at least a majority of wrists.
Tissot PRX 35mm and Tudor BB54
