Glad to hear it brother!! Having the ability to hold the gears I wanted manually was a big issue for me back then. I can’t stand it when my trans doesn’t do what I tell it to. Lol.
@@BadLuckGarage My tuner said this is not something gets asked very often. He laughed when I said I want to be able to do burnouts without it shifting to second.
That’s weird because the whole reason I made this video years ago is because there were TONS of truck guys asking if it could be done for towing and off roading purposes. I think I even said something about that in the video but it’s been awhile. Lol
Bad Luck Garage you would think so, but I get the feeling it’s not something most guys know about. He knew about it, but said customers rarely bring it up. I guess nobody wants to do rolling burnouts. Sissy’s!
Can this be done with the 4low table too? I’m having a heck Of a time keeping it in the gear I have selected… second gear reved out always shifts to 3rd unwantedly..
It should, depending on what ecu and OS you’re using. I only deal with p01 and p59 pcms. I use the latest stable version and it’s still there. The reason we brought this up on HPTUNERS was for those of us using a D1 transbrake from Jake’s performance. Not really the reason he discusses here.
Man I just had a chance to upload the new tune an it's night an day difference on how it drives I did the safety net feature you suggest in your vid an I'm loving plz post more videos about hp tuners I'm new to it and am hooked I know I gotta ton to learn. 01 2 door blazer 5.3
I’ll do my best brother. Between the nova, the corvette, and my job it’s kinda tough to fit more in. Maybe I’ll make some more “how tos” while I’m tuning the China-Vette though. Love me some blazers btw. 👍🏻
I was trying to figure this out. Thanks for sharing this. Don't stop, I'd love some explaining on transmission tuning. You should make a video of what you'd do when making changes to transmission shifting. Ex. Shift pressure, shift timing, how to make firm/neck breaking shifts. Thanks again and hopefully see this recommendation soon. Cheers!
Thanks for watching brother. As for the shifting, on a 4L80 all bets are off. I do away with the torque management completely, drop the shift time down to around 200, and crank the line pressure up. A 4L80 can take it. In the turbo C10 I built last year the 4L80 was a bone stock junkyard pull with stock converter and I did as I just described and it would sometimes kick the ass end out on the 1-2 shift with a set of 325/50-15 drag radials. That thing shifted fast and hard with zero modifications. Just filled it up with Jegs quick shift transmission fluid and let it eat. 👍🏻
You seem pretty knowledgeable on HPtuners. I am still in the planning stages of my ls build. I had read that HP tuners cost 30 bux a tune on other youtubers video. It seem to me that maybe incorrect based on your videos. You seem to make a lot of changes. Could you clear that up in a video or just reply to my comment if a video is too much work. Thanks so much. Love the videos and the build! Keep up the good work.
Need some help. Working on a completely stock gen 4 silverado. 4.8L 4l60e. Wanting to make set tow haul button for roll races. Cant seem to figure it out on this one.
Brother the tow haul button isn’t going to do anything except change transmission settings. Pretty much useless for what you want to do. It won’t affect power, timing, or fueling whatsoever.....just transmission shifting. If that’s all you want then you just need to figure out which pattern in your trans tables are enabled/disabled with the tow haul button and change the shift and pressure settings within that pattern. Basically you just need to learn which patterns are which and you need to have a fundamental understanding of how shift speed and pressure effect your transmissions shifting characteristics. In order for me to even start to explain this in print it would take me probably and hour and several pages of typing and in the end it still would t be comprehensible. But there are several right ups on the HP Tuner forums and LS1 tech forums with lots of pictures of the tables to help you wrap your head around it. Go ahead and grab a bite to eat and don’t plan on going anywhere for awhile though. Lol.
Go under performance shift and set them all to your max shift speed on that gear across the table . And then you can use your tow haul for roll racing.
My piece of s*** internet sucks short and sweet is 3 minutes or less piece of s*** HughesNet a 10 minute video takes 30 minutes to watch!! thank you for the information,
So what is the difference between D1 and D1 Urban? Urban, for the 4l60e segments, seems to be associated with "performance mode", which of course has to be toggled with an intermittent switch during every drive cycle. Does the 80e segment's D1 Urban just work by default? Fucking NOTHING worse than an unexpected 1>2 shift while drifting a rock bouncer on the street :D
The performance mode is a whole different set of parameters in a tab below. D1 was always there but D1 urban I believe was just the way they had to code the software in 3.x to finally allow access to the programming that would allow the hold shift feature to work properly in first gear. Like they had to create a whole new table just to allow this to work. That’s why I stated in the video that this wasn’t possible in vcm version 2.24.....because D1 urban wasn’t coded into that version. I hope that makes sense. Oh and I would LOVE to see a video of you drifting that rock crawler!! 🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Heh. Follow my channel. I'll have something posted up soon-ish. Just sorta 3/4 finished my new rig and got rained out (and it's my DD so I'm just driving it), and now starting on another S10 ground up truggy. Lots of vids will be up once the second rig is done. Also, I did mod D1 urban and it does work. Just seems like the wrong label "urban", as "urban" is normally an actual trans shift table mode set by the BCM (I thought), just like performance mode. Held first all day today. Drifting was hella less sketchy :). Kudos for the tip man.
Nope shes bone stock. Just completely disabled all Torque Managment, boosted the line pressure and reduced the shift time in the tune and it was tearing loose in 2nd gear. Unfortunately you cant get that brutal with the 4L60s so the Chinavette is gonna have to get a shift kit installed. I'll probably do it when I pull the trans to put a stall converter in.
An hd2 kit is never a bad idea man. I just never needed it in the 80. Matter of fact I never even changed the filter. Took it from the junkyard, cleaned it, painted it, and stuck it in the truck, lol. Same ones going in the Nova next. 😉
I've read some mixed reviews on them.. mostly saying to skip the pressure relief because if it sticks open it cooks the clutch packs.. I might just hold off till I have it rebuilt and have a Jake's performance internal dual feed done.. supposed to have the same benifets without the chance of having cross leaks in the valve body
Any reason my 4l80e is slipping during wot is there a table I need to change it was suppose to be a rebuild 1000hp transmission but the shop shut down now I'm stuck in the water wondering what's going on
Thanks for watching Ryan! I’m no guru on the transmission tuning but if it’s slipping during shifting, you could try increasing the pressure settings and decreasing shift time a bit. If it’s just slipping all the time then I’d say there’s a reason that shop went out of business. Unfortunately even the best tuning can’t make up for bad parts or assembly brother. 😔
Yea being turbo I like to roll race sometimes and if the transdownshifts at WOT, even with the drag radials it just smokes the tires. Being able to hold it in gear and bring the power in less abruptly definitely helps in this area. 😉
I need this done,badly
Just saw hp tuners doesnt do chevy 6.5 diesel, just looking to increase line pressure on my duelly. .9 amps with 50lbs. to force motor is n/g
Did this today. Solves my first world problems of rolling burnouts without shifting to 2nd 🤘🤘

would this work on a 2009 challenger srt8 Nag1 transmission????
These are the tune files for a 4L80e transmission as stated in the title.
I noticed my truck shifted when I had it in first and it shifted to 2nd but it downshifted it sounded so good
Very good video very well explained!
Does this still work to this day? I can’t find d1 urban on mvpi3 there is d1 under part throttle shift

Lol, easy now...eeeeeasy. 🤣

Im a bit confused I'm new to this . Does this tuning increase gear ratios as well or this require axles gearing to be done
HP tuners is a total tuning solution for stock pcms and ecus.
Thanks man!!!
Cool info! Thanks man. Keep em coming.

Thanks for watching William! Credits are $50 apiece. Most vehicles require two credits to tune($100), although some newer vehicles require more.

What does a winter mode means in transmission tuning section (hp tune) jk 2014
I have never seen anything about “winter mode” in any GM transmission settings. I also do not know what JK2014 means.
Do you think this would work the same with 4l60e
Most 4L60e tunes I’ve looked at are already set up this way.

I assume you didnt install an hd2 kit in your 80e ?
I've been looking into them lately, not for gear holding but for the dual feed modification..
