It's just a case of people being too narrow in their definition of what good voice work is. I totally agree though, Guy Cihi and the rest of the cast deliver a crazy good performance throughout the whole game, it's really something else.

I used to play this game on the PS2. At the time we didn't have a memory card, because we'd lost it. So I was used to having to start the game all the way over again. So I would play the beginning over and over, and I would love hearing the sad guitar music every time the intro starts up. It's so powerful, and brings back so many memories. 🥺
This game got me so bad. I remember that my girlfriend broke up with me but not like most people does, she just left me without leaving any trace. All days I was anxious, depressed, isolated and delusional because of that and yes, maybe some people would say that I have to "be a man" but gosh... We were living together and we had a lot of plans that just vanished in a single snap. That's when Silent Hill 2 came into my life. I was looking for cool OST's and a friend recommended me to listen to it and even better played it. So I did and damn... My days were so gray and enjoyable at the same time. I felt what James was feeling. It was special and painful at the same time. I've never loved someone like I did... And that hasn't changed for these last five years. It won't.
The opening scene and line delivery of this whole segment is absolutely perfect. Years have passed since this came out and that first line of, "I got a letter..." still sticks in my head whenever I think about SH2. I just don't think this is gonna work with the Remake at all. Not a big fan of Bloober but I'll hold my judgment until the game comes out but to me at least, I don't think the dialogue of the new game is ever gonna top how these lines were delivered.
Funny thing is, i wrote a paper for my university class on SH2 and how it relates to horror culture. My professor had never even heard of SH2 (blasphemy, i know!), and somehow i ended up with an A on the paper :-). Funny how a game like this has such a big impact, isnt it?

I got this game for the original Xbox system. I remember watching this scene, walking to the graveyard and being lost in fog... I took the game out, put it in the case and shelved it for three years before playing it again. This game encapsulates what horror means.

The line when she say " You promised " you'd take me there has this very subtle and sad like the way the voice actor delivers it like she have gone thru this problem before it feels so real everytime i played it the voice is just soo genuine feeling we can feel it too

You don't need to be an adult or a teen to enjoy games like this. It's an experience that can be enjoyed by anyone so long as they have a pull to it. For Silent Hill, it's a lot more closer and personal than some horror games out there. Though not the scariest imo, it created the formula.
It's really not that good. When was the last time you played? it's because I played it earlier this year and its trash compared to 1 and 3. It was spin off game that sadly ruined the series. Since every silent hill game had to be trauma and the town getting revenge.

They say fear of the unknown is the most common form of fear but it dismisses the existence of "known" horror, something you fully understand and remember, but still deny because you're afraid of it. So many games try to make the player feel something. "Silent Hill 2" is the first game I've ever really experience that wants the player to feel N O T H I N G
that's not an accurate description of SH2 at all. why would the developers want their psychological horror game with a deeply emotional story make the player feel nothing? they're _constantly_ trying to make you feel intense fear, depression, isolation, etc.

The graphics didn't impress you because you're young and you don't know what you're talking about, you're comparing SH2 graphics with today's graphics, things don't work like that. I remember that the first time I played SH2 I thought it was the game with the best graphics in the world. Why? Because I played it in the 2002, SH2 had the best graphics back then, graphics have always mattered.
