A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE WITH LOBSTERS PEOPLES ❤
Thanks so much!
Great video, one of the most informative videos I've seen on the topic
Thanks so much, it's really interesting way of life and I really wanted to film it as much as I could for everyone.
Well iam watching this video on July 16/22 and the price of fuel world wide is high , so these guys will feel the pinch more and more . Great video , now i see how the traps leave the boat and come back on , and how the anchor pulls everything off the boat , awesome .
Yeah fuel is a big problem right now. The higher price of Lobster is helping to cover that costs but no extra profit that's for sure.
Great Video, went deep sea fishing off Nova Scotia this summer and it was a fantastic experience. Nicest people in the world out there in the Maritimes!
Yes, NS is an amazing place to visit and is full of good people. Glad you enjoyed your fishing trip here!
How sweet, Im originally from Shelburne, I grew up around Halifax and other places, my family is mostly around Pugwash, my uncle and cousin have a fishing boat there. Hope you have a great day.
Thanks, have a good day and I'm glad you enjoyed the video.
Sure looks like a lot of work. These guys must be exhausted by the end of the day. Sounds like a lot of money, how ever I bet the profit margin is slim, fuel, boat repairs & bait, on & on. Plus the guys need to get paid. Thank you great video!
They sure do work hard, I was exhausted just filming them all day! It's hard enough work just trying to stand on the boat as it's rolling, let alone actually working at the same time.
I'm thinking about giving it a try. Very interesting and informative video. Thank you
This is a great video thank you so much. Looking at it with newbie eyes
Great video!
Thanks!
Going to run pots this winter! Awesome video, actually saw a couple people I know in it lol small world
Thanks and all the best this year!
Good to see they are using a lot of the same harvesting requirements as Maine!
Ol bruce falls in the orange...passed away later that year of cancer he fished right til he couldnt no more. Captain is Christan small guy is mel francis also its a indigenous boat!
I know I'm two years late, but I hope you made a follow up video showing how to eat the lobster. 🙂(Yes, there are plenty of such videos on the internet, but you can never have enough! Trust me, if you didn't grow up eating lobster, it is INCREDIBLY intimidating.)
That's a great idea! I think I made a how to cook video, but great thinking on one how to eat it! Thanks,
I’m here because of the game Fishing: North Atlantic and learned a lot from that but wanted to see how it is really done. I live in New Zealand so far away but I did once live in Halifax many years ago the Maritimes are amazing
I've always wanted to sail around NZ, seems like a really cool place.
Been playing a game called Fishing: North Atlantic, and this boat is featured. It's really cool seeing the pots being set on video. Thanks for the upload.
I was just playing that. Good game!
@@bleedingfly absolutely. I'm ready for the sequel Ships at Sea, which will be multi-player
@@chscott9525 See you at the port! \m_,
Salute from Pictou Landing 🫡
Yarmouth Nova Scotia!! My home
Meant to say ‘gulf of Maine’ not Gulf of Mexico, way too much time in Florida. Lol
Thanks for clarifying! 🙂I live close to the Gulf of Mexico, so I was definitely confused.
Spent too much time in Clearwater FL lol@@norwegianblue2764

That is an incredibly slow pulley and crew!
Youngest man on deck is 60 lol slow and steady wins the race
I always wondered how treacherous the waves are in the lfa’s
What occurred in the top right hand of the video at 3.28 !
fireworks I think

How many feet long was that boat ?
about 40 feet with large beam
great vid i to am fisherman from pei
I was wondering if this is an easy job to get into in Canada I’ve had fishing experience from back home in the U.K. 3-4 years at sea. Would love to do that
I hope you get a chance too!
@@novascotianexplorer9154 I do aswell
Question, do the fisherman have designated spots? Leases? Turf wars ect? Or you can fish anywhere you want? How’s this work?
There are different areas designated by license. He’s in LFA (lobster fishing area) 34 here, one of the biggest and most lucrative. If you have a 34 license, you can fish anywhere in 34. People do get protective of the places they have been fishing though, some have been fishing the same spots for years, after their fathers and father’s fathers.
You can fish anywhere you want within your zone/ district. This is a very large area so lots of places to fish. However, sometimes people will place their pots very close to yours (turf war kind of). This may lead to gear getting stuck together and less lobster (maybe) in each pot. In some areas of NS and NF there can be turf wars for sure.
You think you'll be hiring next season or do you get the same people every year?? I want to know what's good and I'm looking into getting into crab fishing
Or lobster
Waoooo.
What is that you are using on the hy flier rack to hold the anchor line up out of the way? what size and kind of rubber?
I'm sorry I don't know.
Not to be wierd but is it a decent paying job
Yes, and no. really hard work with risks. Pay isn't bad though and you can find other work in the off season. Exact pay ranges so much because it is based off catch. Generally you can expect to make 25-100k a year. If you own the boat then over 100k.
What's the make of those life vests
Hey, how many pounds do you usually catch per season? And how many pounds of lobster did you catch that day? im interested in buying a licence
Average catch is around 50k lb per season, every boat is different. Some with average 30-40,000, others closer or over 100,000. Licenses right now are selling for close to $1.5m for the enterprise.
Really matters on price that year too unless your banding for set amounts!!
Where can you buy this pots/ nets ?!
Vernon Deon Fishing Supplies has it all!
What is lobster season or is there one and do they have limits
It's a 6 month season starting end of Nov. There are no limits on the number or LBS of lobster you can catch, only on the number of traps you can fish with.
@@novascotianexplorer9154 thanks for sharing Sir. how many traps are the limit? thank you
@@JeesielRamirez we had 375 traps, which is more than enough work wise!
@@novascotianexplorer9154 that is a much longer season then NB or Gaspesie, how much do you catch per season with those 4 extra months?
@@pers0n442 It's 6 months here and catch as much as you can! Everyone catches a different number each year, depends on how much you go out, how many times your pulling up, so big differences between boats. The big money is in the first few weeks.
I caught a Mermaid off Nova Scotia.
Where's Cory Newell?
Every time you call a lobster trap a pot it makes me want too shit myself
Hello.I`m looking for a job related to lobster`s fishing and i`m currently unemployed. Is it true do you people need more workers in order to correctly perform this job? and also. Do i need studies or certification to work in this area? greetings and i hope you have a wonderful week
the only thing you need to work this job is a pulse. hard work though.
@@propeller___ hello mate. I'm a Chilean citizen but i'm having a hard Time here. I need to migrate. Do you know someone who's able to hire an inmigrant? I'm still living in Chile although. Thanks for your reply and greetings
A younger version of Elon Musk. lol
Thanks Derek! Now to just make money like him..
I was thinking that I bet he wished he had Elon money
The gulf of Maine is not Nova Scotia! Off of Nova Scotia is the gulf of Maine 😊!! Typical American filming off of Nova Scotia! Just another American looking how lucrative it is in Yarmouth. Go home!!😅
See that pinned comment correcting myself. You're too funny, I'm from here.
Hi Jon Raimund,
I was wondering if I can contact you through Facebook messenger or any other platform. I am doing research work to mitigate noise exposure on fishing vessels and I need to know about the fishing operation. I hope that you can give me a good guidance. If possible, please reply to my comment.
Yeah typical...lobsters look like tinkers...typical what that boat brings in ...
Native boat ....pretty bad the crew can't tie a pot on ....shows you what they know ..not much
The guys working on this boat have been fishing for years and are very knowledgeable and capable of doing their jobs. Have a good thanksgiving!
Surprised they fish legally like the real Fishermen ....
They are real fishermen.
