      Some of these areas I've gotten to know from repeatedly visiting them over the years. Others are word of mouth from locals and such. I guess the only draw back is that once the cat is out of the bag everyone wants to visit them. Luckily there are many more spots to discover. Thanks, Richard!

    What an amazing place Adasm, and again - super drone work, and great photos! The cave almost looks like concrete, and I came think about Gaudi and his flowing, organic architecture.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  6 років тому

      Does look like a Gaudi building, good observation. Perhaps not quite as colourful? I've come close to crashing the drone so many times, touch wood it doesn't happen. Thanks, Adam!

    Close on the "clamming", they are scallops (unless Canada uses different terminology than we do in the States. They are the result of water flow, and generally the smaller the scallop mark, the faster the water was flowing. Also, in caving, we can get a sense of which direction the water was flowing by the shape.

    I really enjoyed those images which were lit by the reflected light. It looked like there were different colors of light coming from different directions, and I think you did a good job of capturing the texture of the rock.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  6 років тому

      Thanks, Nick! Yes, the colours were fascinating. I often look for contrasts in colour and light. Warm colours come forward where as cool colours recede, a great way to give the illusion of depth. That's what I love so much about Zion and the canyons, lots of warm reflected light set against cool shadows.

    What a unique place to shoot. Thanks Adam for taking the time to go there and allowing us to go with you. I hope you carry some kind of bear spray with you, i think bear spray will work on a Sasquatch? great and unique photos, looks a lot like Yoho National Park photo "Weathered by Time"

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  6 років тому

      No problem, it was a fun project. I carry bear spray occasionally but to be honest am not too worried about encounters. It's the yahoos drinking beer and blasting off firearms in the woods that I am more worried about. It does look a lot like the area in Yoho, good observation.

    After watching the video, I was inspired to photograph Anutz and Atluck lake once again. I didn't go to the caves since, like you said the water levels are too high for any exploring inside the cave at this time of year. I think you would really love photographing Atluck lake and stay at the camp ground. If you have never been there it is just a few more kilometers further down the main road towards Zebellos from where you turned off to go to the caves. Just a note if you don't mind hiking for a few hours there is also some seldom seen caves on the Artlish River, which is fairly close to where you. were.

    Fantastic location and some great images Adam. I love the detail and sense of mood you are able to create, as well as your explanations as to your thought processes in looking for compositions and setting up shots. Also interested that you don't rate bears to big a problem as when when we were in BC and Alberta two years ago we were constantly warned off hiking out to these types of location because of the local wildlife.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  6 років тому

      Thanks, David! I appreciate the feedback. Wildlife encounters are always something to be wary of but in all honesty, all wildlife encounters that I've had have been positive ones. Even on this trip, I came across a black bear about 1km from the parking lot, he just ran away. Was great to see a bear though. In all seriousness, I am more concerned about the ATV yahoos, drinking heavily and shooting off their firearms, especially on long weekends. I've had a number of encounters with some of those idiots.

    Hi Adam! I really enjoyed this one, especially after you just mentioned the location to me a few days ago. What an amazing location! Your images are very inspiring and make me realize how beneficial it is to really take the time to consider the composition carefully. As I mentioned before, I'm heading to the Island at the end of September. Unfortunately, I doubt I'll be able to convince my wife to make the side trip to Little Huson as it's quite a bit out of our way. I'll show her the video though and who knows . . .

      I've also noticed some of your Death Race t-shirts! We did it as a team in 2013 I believe, and did Sinister 7 as a team in 2015. Are you a solo Death Racer?

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  6 років тому +1

      Thanks! Huson is a bit of a drive for sure but well worth it if you have the time.
      The Death Race I soloed in 2014. I had a fantastic race, although I was beaten up by the end and the heat was intolerable. A lot of runners dropped due to heat exhaustion. I was signed up for the Sinister 7 (solo) in 2015 but injured my foot, too much running, haha. The foot injury keeps reoccurring so for the past 11/2 years, I haven't done much running. Actually last week I finally went to a podiatrist to try and sort things out, hopefully within the next little while I can start running again. If you get a chance the Mt. Robson Ultra is spectacular.

    • @rskura
      @rskura 6 років тому

      I have not done any races over the full marathon length. I also had a recurring foot problem - Morton's Neuroma. One year I got orthotics and it solved the problem completely, but by the next year the problem returned. The past few years I have been sticking to shorter runs.
      Good for you for doing the Death Race! Incredible test of mental and physical stamina!

    Ello Adam, a little revisit, oogling your pass portal moments as haven’t seen yet. Vancouver isle has amazing geo diversity. Cave excursions are other worldly ... felt quite nervy watching this ( weeeeiiird) I think i have a stupid unsung phobia. So impressed with the in the rocks those “scallop markings” which brings me to my litttle Q: Did u need to sneak in a external [Hardy] light source or bracket expose for the foreground rocks like the crack-rock in Image 4 , because I’m head scratching as how your D800 .. would bring up that DR excitement on one shot! (I use a similar sensor D810 and it’s DR is a tad challenging and noisy to pull out magic from such dark spaces ; ) . please i could you enlighten . Wild greetings , Cam , SAfrica.

    • @QuietLightPhoto
      @QuietLightPhoto  4 роки тому

      No lights needed, I found the noise in the D800 to be not too bad as long as the image is not way under exposed. There was natural light that was bouncing around the cave.
