I'm just a couple of years younger than Glenn and I've got just about everything he's been involved with since the Trapeze days. This CD is absolute dynamite one of his best. Go Glenn Go.
I'm new to Glen. What are his heaviest albums? Besides the ones with Iommi... I have those. What would you consider his hardest rock albums?
Glenn gave The Daisies what they needed most: a songwriter.
By far the best Dead Daisies album. Recruiting Glenn Hughes has catapulted the band to a new level! 👍
The voice of rock
Absolutely fantastic album. Glenn Hughes has done it again !
Never stoped listening too it since I got it last Friday it’s amazing Glenn definitely brought his magic brilliant best £11 spent in years 👍🏼🏴👍🏼
Anything Glenn Hughes get envolved is GOLD. Great bands and solos albums in the last 20 years. Legend
@No More Mr. Fooled Again I think each member has quite made his own parh. ALDRICH is a superstar.🎸🎸🎸
Why I didn’t see Glenn on a recent tour in my hometown Is beyond me
Apologies to Glenn...meant to say you were in your late '60s, not '70s!! Oops! Thanks to one of our viewers for catching my flub! #mymindplaystricks #gettingoldsucks
He'll probably still sound great in his late EIGHTIES!
I had to go check. I was prepared to be stunned. Thank goodness you were wrong. 😎
You were close, Pete - he sounds like he did in the late 70s.
I listened to the debut with Jon Stevens many years & enjoyed it, briefly heard a few tracks from the second with Corabi & have this record on repeat for days now, not a bad track. Mr Hughes playing & singing magnificently & the band too, some great solos. Definitely an album of the year contender for me.
I think this is Glenn Hughes' best performance on an album. His bass solo on "Like No Other" is jaw dropping!
Glenn Hughes continues to amaze me with the quality and quantity of projects he has been involved in. This latest album from The Dead Daisies is a cranking great album!!
Make Some Noise - is their best album.
I like the new album. Corabi, Titchy and Mendoza were great on the prevoius few albums. Saw them several times
Glenn Hughes was the missing piece for the band , awesome stuff
Glenn Hughes, simply the best🙌🏽🤟🏽, haven’t listened to the album yet. Thanks for the review!
Oops.... Pete, Glenn Hughes would be in his late 60's (68), not "late 70's".... None the less, AMAZING! What a FABULOUS album!!!
Yep, I've posted that apology to Glenn a few times in the comments and in the video description...meant to say '60s, my old brain cranked out '70s...it happens.
GOT THE VINYL. SOUNDS AMAZING ..45 RPM. 2 LP. COLORED OFF RED VINYL. NICE!..20 BUCKS.....SAW GLENN HUGHES AND HIS BAND DOING HIS TRIBUTE TO MARK 3 DEEP PURPLE VERSION ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO IN GLENSIDE PENNSYLVANIA...STILL SOUNDED LIKE THE RECORDS...LOVE PURPLE. LIKE YOUR LOVE OF ROCK...STILL ROCKING...
John Corabi sang on 3 Dead Daises albums (4 If you count the LIVE album!) :D
Glen is 69 according to his profile ... still a phenom !!! been playing music since 1975 and i never heard of him till this album ...went back and looked at resonate and can see his influence .... what a gift !!! glad i saw this review ...THANKS!! ........TT
Glenn is one of the most iconic singers and bass players in the history of heavy rock. He is near and dear to my heart as he and one of my all-time favorite and unheralded guitarists, Tommy Bolin, were basically blood brothers in DPurple and obviously soul mates. He is a walking manifestation of the history of hard rock. Bless Glenn with many more contributions to the music world.
Corabi is what drew me to this band so it was a let down to hear that he left. Glenn Hughes is definitely a huge asset and I am looking forward to hearing Holy Ground soon.
When did he leave?

After loving heavy rock in my younger years I have to admit that apart from my old favs, Purple, Sabbath and the like I rarely listen to it today, preferring Prog and blues rock, but as Stormbringer is my fav Purple album with of course the great Glenn Hughes I thought I would take Petes advice......again.... and give this a listen, well wow, what a voice..still... and great riffs, definitely going to order this up, thanks Pete, yet again you hit the spot!!
I’m a huge , huge fan of Glen Hughes. Thanks for review PETE ! 👍💯
Glenn Hughes is amazing. I really dig the Daisies. Hey Pete, how about a show on the greatest bass players of all time.
The first time I heard of GH is when he joined DP. Deep purple literally changed my musical life when I saw them on tour basically doing the Made in Japan tour - before it was released - back in 1972 with the MKII lineup. Anyone who has listened to Made In Japan can understand what I’m talking about. To this was the greatest show I ever saw - even to this date. Anyway - back in probably the winter of 73 when I heard that Ian Gillan and Roger Glover had left DP I was DEVASTATED!! My favorite group was done. I was depressed as hell. Then I heard of their replacements and a new album. I had very low expectations for the new album. I just got my license and bought the Burn 8-track. . I was with all my friends in my car and they wanted me to put it on but actually I wanted to wait till I got home to listen to it bu myself cause I thought is was gonna suck. Finally I have up and popped it in. HOLY SHIT !! From the very first riff from Burn this album is an ass kicker!! The vocals from DC and GH certainly made up for a giant like IG. And Pete is so right - every band GH is in - which is a ridiculous amount - is good. Of course DP and Black Country Communion being my current favorites. But let’s not forget Hughes/Thrall - HTP and many of his solo albums. Just the facts. And while some singers voices have declined - his voice only seems better.
Wow!! Thank you for mentioning the “Dead Daisy’s” new release!! I ‘m looking forward to hearing it!!🎼🎤🎸🎵🥁
I agree with you Pete. Fantastic album. I am pleasantly surprised how good this is from start to finish
I just picked this up as well and was blown away! I saw them live with Corabi and they were great. Looking forward to hopefully seeing this line up live too.
wow....Glenn's voice is still incredible. Great stuff
Thanks for all the content you continue to give us Pete. It has helped me lots during this difficult pandemic. I listen to so many of your shows time and time again. Those 4 shows with Martin about bad album covers have probably clocked in with me at about 500 listens by now. I never get tired of them!
But yeah, You are the Working Man! Rush would be proud!
Love this album!! Definitely a favorite!!
Can't wait to pick this up! I've been waiting for this DD album since last summer! Totally unrelated -- you should do a show with Lynne and Butch. Their banter/bickering on the squares is hilarious. Topic for the show could be their Top 3 musical disagreements. Keep up the great work, Pete!
Loving this album, I've had it on non stop so far.
Glenn has elevated the dead daisies so much, the bass and vocals are outstanding.
The Dead Daisies are a revolving door of personnel. I will check this out as I am a big Glenn fan!
You're so right about Glenn Hughes, everything he does is gold to me.
Glenn Hughes excellent musician and song writer and singer! Makes the Daisies kickass band! 👍👍😎
DEAD DAISIES.... THEY KEEP THE FLAME ALIVE.. THX to Glenn... Doug.. MEGA MONSTER SUPERSTAR BAND...
Listened to it ast night
Great cd! Going to purchase today on Amazon. Love glen Hughes. Come taste the band is my favorite deep purple album!
Finally got around to listening to this album and WOW! I was completely blown away and the reason for that is Mr. Glenn Hughes! Listened to most of the D.D. albums and they are good, but this album is big step and would love to see this album and band live.
Hey Pete, I commend Butch Jones for turning me on to this. Very solid album. Thank you for everything my friend.
Just saw them live in Ohio on Saturday night! Amazing show, I posted a video on my channel and will be uploading more soon. Long live Glenn Hughes!
This album is fantastic and easily The Dead Dasies' best release to date.
Been going back and forth between this slbum and Jason Bieler's new one (you may know him from Saigon Kick), both are great. I highly recommend both. Just started getting into the new Voodoo Circle album today, hints of Whitesnake in that one.
I felt the same way as you about the last two. I really like John, but Glenn is my favorite of the journeymen rock singers for sure. I'll buy this just because he's on it (which I didn't know until now). Thanks, Pete!
My thoughts exactly, I just discovered this album 10 days ago and I think this may be the best rock album ever made. Although I tend to feel like that about pretty much ewerything that involves Glenn Hughes, this album quite simply blows my mind. Holy shit.
This album is so fkn good
The Best lineup ever
Have you done an album rating of all Glenn's work, Pete? Solo or otherwise? That would really be something!
Good luck to Dean. Hard rock drummers give and take a beating. The back bone of any band.✌
Thanks for the review Pete. Got my cd a few days ago. This is my favourite DD album together with Burn It Down. The heavy riffing continues on this new record and Glenn's voice makes it sound like a harder version of BCC without the Zep influences that Bonham Jr brought to that band.
It sounds a lot like GH's own Resonate more than any DD album (no bad thing). Glenn has pulled the band towards him rather than slot in.
Not quite the first release with him though, we got the Lockdown Sessions EP last year which is worth checking out.
BTW, Deen has now quit the band.
Great review Pete. I just got the vinyl today and it's incredible. It does appear to have the full lyrics except for the Humble Pie cover. Got a shock at first as it has to be played at 45rpm I thought they'd gone doom metal for a minute😁
It gave my attention to this band when Doug Aldrich from whitesnake join in , I like very much their music.
When you said Hughes was in his late 70s...I hadda look, too. He's only 69. I figured as much. Cali Jam was in 1974; I was watching it on TV at 16...so he wasn't too much older than me. Now that's depressing.
I’m sure Pete knew that he just misspoke😂
@@flyingburritobro68 Yeah...he corrects himself in the notes. I mostly watch SOT on the TV (via Roku)...while I have the comments section poised on my pad. So, sometimes, I jump the gun. :-)
Pete’s no.1 for the year a go-go.
Great album! Thank you for the review! This review made me check out the Dead Daisies!
Dead daisies ranking the albums 🤟
After three months of solid listening, the style in which the verses are written and sung make it sound less like a DD album ... Lowy's decision in bringing in GH ... still, a GREAT album!
anything Glenn has done recently (solo albums, Black Country Communion, California Breed) has been top notch. Definitely digging this album as well.
spot on. Basically, everything he's done since 1996 has been stellar. if you;ve never heard them, you owe it to yourself to check out the records he did with Joe Lynn Turner in the early 00s. stunning releases!
@@benedictdonald4338 I haven’t heard those but will check them out ASAP! Thanks for the recommendation
@@benedictdonald4338 yeah htp good stuff
Gotta check it out. Love Glenn Hughes.
Love this album so much
Great album. Thanks for the recommendation and the review. Love the channel.
I’m excited for the next Hudson Valley episode.
Me to essential Monday night viewing well Tuesday morning for me being in the UK 🇬🇧.
THE REVIEW WAS GREAT, I REALLY ENJOYED IT, THANK U 4 THAT 🙏🎸
Castronovo released a statement informing us that he has left the band to focus on more with family.
Which I mentioned in the video...
YESSS!! Been listening to this release nonstop since it’s release last week. Great bunch of songs and the huge, bombastic mix just takes them to the next level.
Good description...It is indeed a bombastic mix
Tommy already played in The Dead Daisies, I saw him play in Amsterdam (2015) when they were opening for Kiss. Chris Glenn guested on a couple of songs!!
I got pi55ed with Glen at The Town and Country Club in London in 1988.He was such a nice guy.Just bought the CD on eBay.Rock on guys.
I've got the album on Pre-order I will admit, I went off them during the Corabi era. As soon as I heard Glenn was joining I was totally back on board, can't wait for the postman to bring me my vinyl!! :)
Love the new album ,But the Corabi albums was great too
Hoping you’d review this! In fact because of you I got into Hughes after you went over the one album wonders and mentioned Hughes Thrall - amazing! This is a great new recording, love the baseline tune. And new Schenker on Friday!!!
this album sounds great,Glen Hughes voice still sounds amazing,John Corabi is amazing but i enjoy the switch up,looking forward to this incarnation of the band
fantastic album !!!!!!!!
Glenn is 67- not latter 70's! I think he turns 68 in Aug. Also, track 11 "Far Away" may mostly be mellower.. but it's that epic formula used by Dio, Glenn solo, BCC.. mellow with a kick in the ass.. like Stairway to Heaven does..
Corabi has sung on 5 albums including the covers album and the live album
With Deen's pedigree now out of the band, the term 'supergroup' might not apply to this band anymore.
I was so looking forward to seeing them on tour, waiting to hear Deen take a turn at singing the older-Corabi tunes--who was just great as the lead voice for most of the catalog ... a great, gritty-verse-singer, his range starting to tap out in the choruses.
Having said all that, this band will still be HUGE--Hughes & Aldrich ROCK!
Holy Ground is such a great album ... a cross between Hughes's last solo album, Resonate and, IMO, the last Daisies album, Burn It Down.
I suggest that if you like this album, you should also check out Fused by IOMMI/HUGHES ... Glenn's voice and bass are just killer and I think there are some of Iommi's best riffs and guitar solos on that album.
this cd is killer !!!!!
Not a big Doug Aldridge fan find his playing very derivative and unoriginal. But if the “Voice” Glenn Hughes is singing then I’m interested. Will be sampling for a potential purchase.
Its Aldrich, you thinking of someone else.
@@paulburrows7908 No just misspelled his last name. Not a fan of his playing. Saw him live with Dio and Whitesnake disappointed both times. Reb Beach on the other hand was awesome with Whitesnake.
Vocals on Unspoken are on a different planet. 👌😈
I’ve become a big Glenn Hughes fan. He made Joe Bonnamasa listenable! ;-) great voice, great bass player!
it is cool bands are doing neat stuff with the packaging
Excellent album...
It's a great album and the band as a whole just smokes. I will say when I first heard the song "My Fate" I was like wait a moment, that riff comes from the Iommi/Hughes record Fused song "Face Your Fear". Still rocks though.
Hold on Pete, Glenn is 68, you just stuck 10 yrs on him. He is amazing for his age though. Would be nice to see him back in bcc in the future, they are such a great band.
Peace
Andy H
I did say late 60s...
Ooops...I said '70s...MEANT to say 60's! Sorry Glenn!!!
Never got the whole Glenn Hughes thing. Really good voice. Good musician. Never sang a song that made me care. Unlike Robert Plant , Ian Anderson , Ian Gillan, Freddy Mercury, Steven Tyler, Rob Halford, Bruce Dickinson. David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Ozzy Osbourne, Bon Scott, David Coverdale, Chris Cornell, Elton John, Roger Daltry, Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Paul Rodgers, Ronnie James Dio etc. At some point you have to wonder if your songs are just meh, cuz the voice is there. I await the anonymous thumbs down judgment. I still love ya Pete. Best channel on the tube.
I think I see where you're coming from. I love your list of vocalists (except Halford, not a Priest fan) All these guys have a bluesier style which lends itself to feel, which I love. However Hughes makes me want to jump around and strut and above all he absolutely rocks.
Great Heavy release🤘
Glenn is a treasure.
Glenn Hughes !!!!
Frontrunner for 2021 album of the year!
Yeah Glenn still sounds great @ 68 hasn't lost much/Still can hit those high's. "Holy Ground" kicks ass/Need to check @ more...
Glad I ordered this. Great review
Glenn Hughes 10/10 , music 8/10 ❤🎸😷💉 2021
I've just listened to the album straight through and it is AWESOME! I gotta ask though... did anyone else note a particularly heavy religious (Christian) vibe?
Pete, thanks for the review, and the content, love it brother. Is the (Adrian) Smith/Kotzen (Richie) album going to be reviewed? Thanks.
Surprised you haven’t done a ranking video yet on Testament. Keep up the great work Pete!
I’ve mentioned on a few recent videos that it’s coming.
@@sotdude7 sounds great Pete! Loving the content!
I'd like to hear what you think of the band out of Santa Cruz , CA called Snail. They have a song called "The Joker" and also ' Music Is My Mistress' , Thanks.
Wow looking forward to these shows Pete, I really love the Monsters Den what a great idea, now if you'll excuse me I have to go listen to the Dead Daisies...
The word is fresh. The other albums are good but they sound like they were playing it safe. This album sounds like a brand new band
Nice review , going to order it
Chosen and Justified best song on the album.
Apparently, Deen Castronovo has left the band, so I'm going to look to purchase this with the Voice of Rock on it!
Which I mentioned in the this video...
@@sotdude7 Had only listened to about 10 mins before i replied, but i had figured you knew about Castronovo anyway Pete; love it that the Voice of Rock joined them. You had mentioned that they were a rotating band, and as always Pete really enjoy your shows and music Perspective. Thank you.😎
Dead daisies wasn't that great..bit with Glen Hughes it went to another level.. This is the best record they put out...great riffs, hooks, lyrics and Glens voice just made it that much better...the bass lines are awesome and leads kill...I really like it...Like no other and holy ground...are some of the best in the record.
