Yeah ive been saving up my aUEC for a large ship. But now with a pending wipe, I am thinking its not worth holding out anymore and just buy a mid-size ship tonight to enjoy it for a week or two.
I'm apparently the only person thats both unsurprised by and happy about the economy changes. Like people really dont understand that you're NOT supposed to be able to grind out something like a Carrack in a week, and that we've only been able to do so up until now because they need us to test things. I knew before i bought my first package and installed the game that the economy and progression rate was going to end up being a lot closer to Elite Dangerous or even EVE than people think. Star Citizen on release is supposed to be a VERY slow-paced, long-term game. Seeing a player with something like a Hammerhead or 890 should be a rare and noteworthy occurrence and even moreso for subcap+ ships, not something that half the people on the server have. And people get *MAD* when i point this out, no matter how nice i try to be. As if im personally doing this to them. Its wild.
The worst thing about the success of this project is the arrival of the general gamer population: entitled spoiled idiots who demand their cake to eat, one to store, and a cheesecake drizzled in caramel on the side just because they're so special, shouldering aside the more niche, tech oriented, and (frankly) smarter space sim enthusiasts who launched it. Talking about this project from an objective POV and not catering to their childish demands is... not appreciated. I blame them for Master Modes, too. They couldn't be bothered to learn to fly in space and so trashed the game's combat and physics so persistently the company decided to gimp it to cater to them (which, because it wasn't designed for this gimping, largely broke it... so they complain about that, as well). 'SC combat sucks, it's just jousting! Also, we're getting destroyed by light fighters!' Those both can't be true. If combat is just a test of DPS and durability (as in jousting), then light fighters would suck. The actual truth of the matter is that they were terrible pilots who could only joust, and would get wrecked by good pilots in agile craft.
Right now, the only progression is getting a new ship. If the missions worked consistently and there were engaging narrative missions it would be different. But after you do a handful of missions you've practically experienced everything the game has to offer. 🤷
I hope 4.0 will be playable and stable when they launch it on live. Broken elevators and missions can really dampen your enthusiasm. I am glad I got to complete Save Stanton without too many hiccups. I had a lot of fun fighting the Idris, one time with 2 Polaris ships and more than a dozen fighters. Thanks for the videos.
I'm with you on this. When the game runs smooth, which has been rare lately for me, it's fantastic and really makes me excited for what's to come. Hopfully sooner then later.
@@kp101destroyer I mean its not feature complete so it still alpha so its not really being used as an excuse, because if they polish it when they add new content it'll break it again
I’ve played each patch they’ve released for 4.0 I’ve got to say it’s massively improving with each one. I’m so excited for initial release specifically the economy change to spice things up
improving with each one? i played 9 or so months ago, and compared to that the game works AT LEAST 50% worse performance wise. Immediately noticable just from the first login when i used to get solid 50-60 fps in the starting rooms on spawn. Now it's 30-40... Played arena commander a few times and somehow they managed to wreck performance in that too, not only in PU. For some reason, without changing anything on my PC, I'm dropping to 25 FPS in offline vanduul swarm, which worked perfectly a year ago. So well actually that i played it for hours with my VR headset for the head tracking. I can't even imagine using my headset at current frames. Also the first time i started the game this November, FPS at microtech spaceport was 8.... 8 fps on 5700X3D and 3080Ti. Those 9 months ago was when I upgraded from 5600x to 5700x3d and the performance uplift was great. Now, the game works worse than it ever did on my old CPU. So i wholeheartedly disagree with your statement 😅
Missiles and torpedos costing more to restock will definitely make it necessary for the whole crew to pitch in a little bit of auec for the Polaris, and other capital ships when they make their way to the verse, which will probably have an effect of not seeing many cap ships for a while until people find the next meta commodity to sell and make loads of money with. I still think they should cook a bit longer for 4.0 if they don't feel like it will be ready by the end of the year.
Noting the instability of past holiday releases, they should release before mid month to give them time to fix major, game breaking bugs before their staff leaves for the holidays:
I'm still cautiously optimistic about 4.0 going live before EOY, but I'd prefer they take a bit more time if needed. It is... rough on the EPTU right now. Every time I've tried to play I've been beset by bugs of various sorts.
I don't know about everyone else but I'm struggling with the Save Stanton missions. I almost have the Idris portion done (2/3 complete), but everything else is at zero. I tried the first protect cargo hauler mission, which sounded easy enough, but when I was down to the last npc he kamikaze'd right into me. Failed another time as well due to the cargo hauler dying super fast. Then, I decided to try cargo recovery instead. Killed all NPCs and retrieved the cargo. Sever promptly crashed... Great! It recovered but the destination never showed up. Ugh... Hoping I can still finish them in time, though it is a shame we have to repeat them so many times. Makes it tough with the servers. *Edited for grammar and spelling*
Xmas wish for just a stable patch up grade. Would love to have a patch with less lag and reduced de-sinc in bunkers, being killed by a toon who jumps about and you can not hit, is so off putting that some times you just do not want to play.
I would love it if CIG could balance without starting and absurd and scaling it to back to reasonable. The missile, torpedo, bomb prices are so insane that they are basically unusable and why would you? There is nothing currently in game that makes using a 500k torpedo or 600K bomb worth it. I don't need white knight telling me that they are balancing and being apologists for every single thing CIG does. I think most of us would like to see them just get something right the first time and not making such insanely aggressive changes when things don't go the way they want them to. The trust is so thin it's almost non-existent at this point.
@dawnfire82 yes that is exactly what I said word for word. Brilliant. I mean it's crazy to expect them to get something right the first time. How freaking entitled we are that feel that way.
It's become a point where the game being broken in some aspect, is the charm of Star Citizen. "Oh my god, this is beautiful! Let me take this elevato- and now i'm falling through the void."
Can CIG even deliver a bug free stable game at this point. They been doing this for over a decade now. i have over 1k in this game backed in 2013. I made a big career change got married had a kid bought a house traveled the entire US since then an i still dont have a completed stable bug free game....
A bug free stable game is NOT the goal right now. The goal is to get every planned feature in the game, and then fix every major bug. If they fixed every bug now, the next major update will just break the game again, meaning a lot of wasted time.
When was the last time you played any stable bug free game? When was the last time you played a game in Alpha? It's not going to be bug-*free* or *completely* stable while it's in Alpha. Or ever. But hopefully it's stable enough and bug-light enough to be fun at this stage.
I’m excited for 4.0, I think the expansion into Pyro is going to reeeally refresh the feeling of the entire game. Getting access to an entire new system also means getting access to an entire different way of life that we’ve never seen before in Stanton. It gives me a lot of home for the diversity of the rest of the populated systems we end up getting in the future too!
I was barely able to log in any time during the Halloween events. I would say I'm looking forward to some play time during Christmas to play 4.0 but history says we're just going get a rushed release and we'll have to wait till after xmas or new years until they fix whatever they released.
Had my first experience glitching out of a ship during hyper travel and in the same session being flung out of the same ship while climbing a ladder. These bugs can't keep me from this game!!
Idk I never expect a major patch when they say it but the holiday season is also the best time to push something to live and come back after the holiday to a crazy amount of data.
Really looking forward to the Jump Point and seeing Pyro. My Kickstarter ship being a Freelancer *_MIS_* ... I am conflicted about the changes to missiles, missile prices, and ship claiming.
A bit bummed that we didn't end up getting the engineering stations operational. The teamwork and taking away work load from the pilot was something i was looking forward to.
Honestly having a reduce feature content to ensure we get something in the planned time frame is probably for the best. Then adding features as things stabilize.
This latest EPTU patch KILLED IT. Played super smooth with 500 people and elevators/hangars/purchasing items worked as well as they do in Live, if not better. This last patch was on point.
They need at least 3 weeks to work on the build after it testing goest into wave 2. If they release 4.0 this year, it's highly likely that it will be rather unstable and buggy.
NO WAY we are seeing this by the end of the year!!! They can't afford another HUGE failed ( Massive amount bugs ) release IMHO! - It would be a huge PR nightmare for the marketing team!
It was a bit suprising for them to release this inside SC on building and crafting. I think that engineering and crafting will come fairly soon-ish after 4.0.
gonna be the biggest thing im looking forward to is the performance improvement from where its currently sitting at, but with the server meshing and larger shards coming...we shall see
Thank you for the update Bored. I am looking forward to open PTU to test it myself. You are such a wonderful person and the information is always appreciated.
@@Qwarzz I believe upgrading the old ones is also hampered by being so common and popular. The Cutlass Black and Freelancer and so on need attention, but they're also daily drivers for looooots of people and they currently mostly work. If I were them, I'd be loathe to mess with them until I had to.
I cannot wait for 4.0! The content you’ve shown so far looks incredible, and I’m so ready to jump into the PTU and try it out before it goes live. Kinda bummed we’re not getting engineering and life support yet those would’ve been awesome to see in 4.0. But hey, after playing for 10 years, I guess I can wait a little longer.
TLDR; "we aren't going to fix any of the major game breaking issues we've been dealing with for the past several years BUT these clouds sure look cool now"
There's no point in fixing issues on code base X when you're switching code base Y. Why would you change out the tires on your car if you're getting a new one next month?
Super exited for pyro, and the additions of future systems. I'm hoping there is eventually a system that seems so far away, or perhaps just very lacking in things like refuel repair etc that it really would take careful preparations, travel and a ship to support your expedition. Something to work towards being able to experience. The ability for orgs or multicrew to be able to bedlog in a persistent ship, or org owned ship would make for some awesome game play outside of the "bubble" area.
Transit system refactor is gonna be huge - During IAE I had so many issues with falling through the floors or getting pinned in a corner. But also, the Herc models have landing issues, and I wonder if that might make a difference? Hoping.
It’s annoying with the Herc. I love my M2 but sometimes I can’t even store it because it just doesn’t land properly, even with both ramps + VTOL deployed…
From the EPTU and the messaging from CIG, it sounds like insurance claims will always give a ship with no missiles. Firebird blew up while spawning in your hangar? You get a penalty because it's your fault somehow.
Looks promising, though CIG mainly made me come back cause of the Starlancer, the Freelancer has always been my dream ship since the initial advert 10 years ago and it's so painfully outdated now and the Starlancer is the solution to that problem until the Freelancer hopefully gets a good gold pass so I can have a Freelancer for small jobs and a Starlancer for bigger ones.
Its those 4.1, 4.2 patches im excited for. Each patch next year ahould just be for stabilizing the game more and more with each one. Base building and crafting coming in would just be a bonus to me at that point.
Would be pretty sweet with some 4.0 during the holidays. One could always hope. Love your videos Bored! Me and my wife always say Staaaar Citizen when we talk about Star citizen. Its become quite iconic!
Of all the exciting features coming with 4.0, and the tentative stability of all of them, I am most excited for one thing only; the economy wipe. It'll feel great to start over, and with a whole new system to dig into.
Are we going to be having any random exit locations or will we all be funneled out of the jump point as a sitting duck? I'm concerned about this if anyone tries to take advantage.
I'm irritated with cig. They ask for us to make reports, but now, they don't even acknowledge when I make one. Many of my reports were never taken seriously or fixed.

I hope they are planning to let you vent the atmo on your ship, would be very useful with fires coming into play.
They actually demonstrated this a while back when previewing the fire system.
I really wish they'd focus on fixing the games instability before adding new features.
I'm with you on this. When the game runs smooth, which has been rare lately for me, it's fantastic and really makes me excited for what's to come. Hopfully sooner then later.
Unfortunately this isn't the focus of an alpha
Fortunately its not. Fixing stuff is a wasted effort when future patches will just break it again.
@@juniasdityenbeger4506 True, but you cant be in "alpha" for 16 years just to use it as an excuse.
@@kp101destroyer I mean its not feature complete so it still alpha so its not really being used as an excuse, because if they polish it when they add new content it'll break it again
I’ve played each patch they’ve released for 4.0 I’ve got to say it’s massively improving with each one. I’m so excited for initial release specifically the economy change to spice things up
But I do just want a Connie update sometime soon 😂😂
improving with each one?
i played 9 or so months ago, and compared to that the game works AT LEAST 50% worse performance wise.
@@x1c3x thats a shame...
@@x1c3x 'I’ve played each patch they’ve released for 4.0'
Missiles and torpedos costing more to restock will definitely make it necessary for the whole crew to pitch in a little bit of auec for the Polaris, and other capital ships when they make their way to the verse, which will probably have an effect of not seeing many cap ships for a while until people find the next meta commodity to sell and make loads of money with.
I still think they should cook a bit longer for 4.0 if they don't feel like it will be ready by the end of the year.
Noting the instability of past holiday releases, they should release before mid month to give them time to fix major, game breaking bugs before their staff leaves for the holidays:
Noooo I still have to finish phase 1 😭
better hurry up!
Yeah
Separated at birth: Father Nordmas and Winston Churchill.
I'm still cautiously optimistic about 4.0 going live before EOY, but I'd prefer they take a bit more time if needed. It is... rough on the EPTU right now. Every time I've tried to play I've been beset by bugs of various sorts.
If 4.0 is released i hope its playable over the holidays.
With all of the features that have been removed i would hope they can get the new version of 4.0 out before the new year
Xmas wish for just a stable patch up grade. Would love to have a patch with less lag and reduced de-sinc in bunkers, being killed by a toon who jumps about and you can not hit, is so off putting that some times you just do not want to play.
I did NOT realize how close the end of the year was holy crap, we're getting this update MUCH sooner then I thought
So, you demand first-time perfection without adjustments and refuse to listen to anyone who disagrees with your core premise. How reasonable! 😄
I'll get back to SC when elevators aren't broken or murderous.
The new HUD additions will be awesome, looking forward to 4.0 for more then just Pyro now!
Fingers crossed the game is playable over the break
Can CIG even deliver a bug free stable game at this point. They been doing this for over a decade now. i have over 1k in this game backed in 2013. I made a big career change got married had a kid bought a house traveled the entire US since then an i still dont have a completed stable bug free game....
We never will unfortunately.
When you have faith in cigs ability is when you'll get a bug free game
A bug free stable game is NOT the goal right now. The goal is to get every planned feature in the game, and then fix every major bug. If they fixed every bug now, the next major update will just break the game again, meaning a lot of wasted time.
But bug citizen is so much fun
I am super excited to explore pyro! Trying my best to not get spoiled too much.
I REALLY hope they don't push it to live until mid Jan. it's not ready.
o7
Idk I never expect a major patch when they say it but the holiday season is also the best time to push something to live and come back after the holiday to a crazy amount of data.
Really looking forward to the Jump Point and seeing Pyro. My Kickstarter ship being a Freelancer *_MIS_* ... I am conflicted about the changes to missiles, missile prices, and ship claiming.
4.0 for Christmas would be awesome!
Probably the worst option for playability if we get it and they go on holiday we get no hot fixs
A bit bummed that we didn't end up getting the engineering stations operational. The teamwork and taking away work load from the pilot was something i was looking forward to.
Honestly having a reduce feature content to ensure we get something in the planned time frame is probably for the best. Then adding features as things stabilize.
What happens when you fall out of the jumpgate jump and end up halfway to Pyro? Don't think you can get back right?
i have the unsetteling feeling that "price rebalance" just means an increase...
Fingers crossed on 4.0, should be the start of what was promised so many years ago (even with many missing features at launch)
Nothing better than a good podcast while working!
This latest EPTU patch KILLED IT. Played super smooth with 500 people and elevators/hangars/purchasing items worked as well as they do in Live, if not better. This last patch was on point.
Currently re-building a PC, can't wait to get back on ready for 4.0!
Stanton looks amazing... Although more than a little grubby but the amount of visible entities on screen at once make for beautiful screenshots
Those jump point are very awe inspiring ngl. I imagine that must be what most people from the 70's were actually seeing.
4.0 is so pretty! I can't wait!
I just got desk clamps for my HOTAS, so I am really looking forward to the launch!
Pyro is really beautiful. I'm excited for the updates that Stanton will receive to bring it up to Pyro speed.
They need at least 3 weeks to work on the build after it testing goest into wave 2. If they release 4.0 this year, it's highly likely that it will be rather unstable and buggy.
Patches are fast and furious now - fairly certain we are getting the patch live before the end of year, ready or not!
Definitely looking forward to server meshing! Can't wait for it and pyro to come
Yeah you and me have a different definition of 'Almost here' BG🤣
The current build of 4.0 was super smooth this morning. Still a few kinks to iron out here and there, but by far the best iteration yet!
Glad I found this channel on Star Citizen, esp during IAE week when I couldn't login everyday.
Fingers crossed they manage to roll out 4.0 for Christmas
The TAC releasing would be a nice surprise. Bit difficult to care about the PTU atm knowing as soon as it drops everything wipes.
The first iteration of a new major update is always chaotic
How can we have engineering when so many ships need a gold standard pass???
I assume it will be limited to ships that can actually support it and they'll work on the older ships later.
@@Qwarzz I believe upgrading the old ones is also hampered by being so common and popular. The Cutlass Black and Freelancer and so on need attention, but they're also daily drivers for looooots of people and they currently mostly work. If I were them, I'd be loathe to mess with them until I had to.
I’m excited for server meshing. Hopefully it will help the smoothness of the game.
Thank you for the Update. Hope they get 4.0 ‘stable’ and then have it live after the holidays
The Future (A Four Act Play)
1. Get on elevator to escape the Grey Zone
2. Fall through elevator floor
3. Lose Loot
4. Sadge
I think the looming question in the back of my mind is will 4.0 be at bare minimum passable as far as performance.
Pretty excited for 4.0, hoping it won't have too bad performance issues :D
At least the list of features that actually are in 4.0 is longer than the list of scratched ones
From the EPTU and the messaging from CIG, it sounds like insurance claims will always give a ship with no missiles. Firebird blew up while spawning in your hangar? You get a penalty because it's your fault somehow.
I am happy they are making progress with the rep system, for a long time it has felt like rep really didn't matter.
Freelancer is so under rated because of its age, but I still think it's one of the best looking ships in the game.
I really Do want 4.0 before the holidays. And I want it playable. I have faith in u CIG. U can do it... LET'S GOOO
The graphical fidelity in Pyro is amazing. Can't wait to get in there and explore. Best ship currently in-game for solo flying around and sightseeing?
we are getting a pre 4.0 for the live.. prob next week then i hope after that we get the 4.0 in a better shape to drop on the 22nd!
Crazy to see how far its come to when I first started
Are we going to be having any random exit locations or will we all be funneled out of the jump point as a sitting duck? I'm concerned about this if anyone tries to take advantage.
Are we close to release yes? should they release? no!
Have a feeling that 4.0 is gonna be released before they go on break so i believe thats around the 20th.
I’m just happy i was able to complete all the chapters yesterday despite everything working against me.
I'm irritated with cig. They ask for us to make reports, but now, they don't even acknowledge when I make one. Many of my reports were never taken seriously or fixed.
I just hope that they have time to fix the problems that will arise if they release 4.0 before the holidays.
