Just found your channel Mike. You have some cool content I’ll be checking out. About 30 years ago I built my first bench. Around 22 years ago I needed another bench and didn’t have time to build one so I went to my local Woodcraft… I saw the owner (at that time) and told him what I was looking for which was a huge bench. He showed me the Sjoberg Elite 2500 with an SM08 cabinet and it was something like $4500… I told him that was out of my price range… He walked me to the back of the store and showed me one on a pallet. He said he had ordered it for a customer who backed out of it. He sold it to me at a substantial discount. They loaded it on my truck and I assembled it from the bed of the truck and borrowed my neighbors engine hoist to put the top on by myself. If I remember correctly it’s near 500 lbs total and is 99 inches long. I don’t think they sell it anymore. At least in the U.S… I think now it’s the Sjoberg Elite 2500C which comes with an extension. It still looks great and will be available for my kids, grandkids or great grandkids. Hopefully I’ll still be around to see great grandkids 😊
Nothing better than lucking up when someone backs out of a purchase! Those bigger benches are super nice and at first I really didn't think I'd use this smaller one all the much but it's honestly one of my favorite benches to work at now!
Hi Mike. I wanted to ask you if it is possible to apply wheels to raise and lower the bench you are presenting? I really like it but in my tight space I sometimes have to move it. Thank you
I'm kind of glad that you're keeping the bench because I'd want it if you didn't keep it, but I couldn't afford it when you put it on Craig's list. Oh well.
Sjöbergs benches are not bad and this probably suits your purpose as you prefer a light movable bench, but I wouldn't consider them "nice". I personally prefer traditional woodworking and to me, buying a new workbench doesn't fit the image. A year seems to have gone by. What decision did you come to?
What does your bench look like? Most of the time, the people that diss Sjobergs benches have crappy construction grade lumber benches they built with a DeWalt planer and a table saw.
@@matthewphillips5483 In my original comment, I aimed to express my belief that a woodworking hobbyist should focus on building their own workbench or finding an antique one rather than acquiring a Sjöbergs workbench. For me, woodworking is deeply tied to traditions, and both hand tools and the act of making things myself are integral to my view of craftsmanship. However, I now understand that there are many paths in woodworking. Professionals often face time constraints, which necessitate a focus on efficiency. Sjöbergs workbenches are indeed of high quality and can be a great fit for those who may not have the time to build their own, like Woodshop Mike, for example.

Lots of good info there Mike! Nice work
Oh dude thanks Kris!
I didn't know I was in the market for a bench until this video! Nicely done
Thanks Mike! I didn't think I'd really have a need for a bench like this but it surprised me 😃
@@WoodshopMike Can't wait to see the Guitar Build using only that bench!
Hahaha maybe I said that a bit too literally🤦🏽♂️
Hello Mike!
Can you please tell me what the thickness of the bench board is? and what are the dimensions of the tabletop slats?
This bench is roughly 1" thick in the middle and 2" around the perimeter. What are you referring to as the tabletop slats?
@@WoodshopMike I thought the thickness was 50 in the middle, and 100mm around the perimeter
like in other workbenches

I think you could put a set of caster on it like this without a problem. amzn.to/48T26Kl
Thanks 😊@@WoodshopMike
Nice review Mike! Thanks for sharing the video with us!💖👍😎JP
Thank you, glad you liked it!
@@WoodshopMike Your very welcome Mike! :) Have a wonderful weekend!😎

🤣🤣🤣. It's a nice bench, I was honestly surprised it would be beneficial and I'd want to keep it!

@@urhor This is fair. I withdraw my criticism.
If you spend $1900 on a beechwood bench of this size and weight....stop woodworking right now.
Haha I hear ya, but it's surprisingly become one of my most used benches.
Why? Not everyone is poor like you.
