I love Johnny Rivers, have always enjoyed his singing. He is so kind, he will sign autographs after shows. He needs to be in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Johnny made some of the best music heard by the human ear. Fifty years later I still haven't forgotten the words, that 's how much impact they had in the beginning. Thank You Johnny for all the music, the love, the lyrics, and you !!!
2021 and I'm still here listening with intent with this very talent singer, man. Well into my 70's now but that moment of time, back then with this song is forever part of me.
I've forgotten how hauntinly beautiful this song, and the entire album is. I spent many a lonely Friday night (in the 70's) listening to this. Also, check out his Slim Slow Slider album.
I remember my sister getting this album for her 17th birthday, I know I listened to it more than she ever did! Great song after great song! When it was re-released on it's 30 Anniversary as a CD I snagged a couple copies (one for my sister as a birthday present) and one for me. This CD is always in my stereo in my bedroom and I listen to it every night before crashing out!
I listened to this album, & " Rewind " all of the late 60's. In my room, I'd turn out the lights, lay on the floor, & just let the music take me away. Johnny's albums were my # 1 music escape. -------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
I have spent 2 days and 2 nights listening to Johnny Rivers. Found lots of songs I had never heard before. He has always been a favorite of mine, but I am overwhelmed at how wonderful this music is. Hope I can find him performing, I will definitely be there.
Had all the albums....loved his stufff from about 1966, the slower the better. Great voice, great backing too. Sad to think of those times now, seems so long ago.
This &" Rewind," are the albums of a girl named Tami-----------The Years & The tears--------of Tami. --------------The memories are as fresh, as yesterday. ------Thank-you Johnny Rivers & Marty Paich, for these classic albums & the music of the Late 60's & early 70's. ---------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
I wanna walk beneath those redwood trees just south of Monterey …( north also ) no television and no telephone ! makes you wonder is it all just a dream.wish I could leave today.the redwood forest is the most majestic place I have ever been / seen . timeless. full of LIFE OXYGEN. I know there is a God cuz of this forest !
As i entered elsewhere, I must have played this album 1000 times, at least, in 1970. Every song is gorgeous. production / arrangement & orchestration,, by Marty Paich, backgrounds by The Blossoms.
I have Rewind, Realization,Slim Slo Slider albums and love them all. Too bad that johnny never got airplay on either the AM or Fm radio,at least in Canada. I just happen upon his albums in a second store, and up until then i thought his biggest hit was Secret Agent Man
Some of his most noteworthy (get it?) cuts I will look up to see the songwriter- and listed is "the one that "only does covers" well not with this beaut. It touches every genre blues, ballad, nice key changes- I look at it his way- this imo is more interesting than music put out byTHE BAND and it took 5 talented guys, a special vocalist , big $$ , and here JR , matches or betters "Levon" i know it isn't apples to apples...but one has to imagine Brian Wilson on headphones grooving to this.. "this is Mr 007?. He knows to add little phrases as at the end eg "but thagirl" (para- is one of a kind)
it's a cold and rainy Friday night city life's got me all uptight ! my mind keeps wandering far away...GOING BACK TO REDWOODS !!! someday !!! wish I could leave today !!! I wanna walk beneath those REDWOOD trees . it IS all just a dream. or nightmare come true as Justin hayward sang. God Help Us. we are under attack !!!
Mr beme : sir, we ARE & have been for many years, " under attack " ! ----------I totally agree . You referenced Justin Hayward & Johnny---------------both were THE music of MY life, in those years of the late 60's, & early to mid-70's. -------------Peace, Brother. -------------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
Every time I get out to the West Coast, it's a journey I just have to take! Like JOHNNNY RIVERS, I wanna walk between those redwood trees when I go "Back to Big Sur!"
I see 6 " thumbs-down " here. ---------I can only surmise those 6 folks have no heart---------no soul-------& cannot or will not, allow themselves to fall in love with a song this beautiful. -----------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
Ohhhhhhhh, the memories! This album & " Rewind" were THE music of '68 & 69, for me. This song is just gorgeous, thanks to Johnny's vocals, & Marty Paich's arrangements, & orchestrations. -------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o, almost 72 y/o

I didn't have headphones. So I would lay on the floor with a speaker on each side of my head. I so got into this music. Beautiful!
