I had the honor of watching Bruce Cockburn perform last night at a Greenpeace event in Oakland. He is an incredible singer songwriter performer. He was way ahead of his time.
if my uncle jim hadn't 'illegally' recorded me a cassette tape of a couple of bruce's albums, namely _humans_ and _dancing in the dragon's jaws_ in 1981 when i was just 16 then i might never have come to be the great would-be artist, writer, player, composer and music appreciator that i'm still tryin' to be, by gosh, thanks again, man!!
@@tinfoilhatter I found "In the Falling Dark" in '78 in local record store, but those were my next two BC albums. A truly great soul, the soundtrack to my 20's. I can see how he could have inspired you that deeply. The first live show of his I saw was his "Big Circumstance" tour, where he played this song with the full band. It was incredible, every note, every minute.

Thanks for sharing, Jim. (Excellent quality for an old VHS tape.) When you see Bruce play with a band, it just blows you away. Then, when you see Bruce play solo...it still just blows you away. I feel so fortunate to have seen him play live in small venues.
Thank you so much for posting this. I have been listening to Bruce Cockburn since mid-1980's when a good friend first played a cover version of two of Cockburn's songs for me on his guitar. ("Dweller by a Dark Stream" and "All The Diamonds"). I went to Tower Records the very next day and bought every one of his releases on vinyl. I've seen him in concert 3 times so far. I met him twice and both times tried to tell him what his music meant to me, but could only get a couple of words out before I was choked up and in tears. He was so kind and humble. He hugged me, and said something to comfort and thank me. He's a brilliant artist and skilled musician/singer/songwriter/poet. He's one of my most favorite artists, and has been a top favorite since the first song I heard. And I'm never disappointed by his music. I have purchased all of the albums I could find of his thus far. I still have several in vinyl, and almost all on CD. It's wonderful to be able to see him on youTube too. Thanks again.
I am a giant Bruce Cockburn fan, too, I got to shake his hand after a concert; I have I think all his albums...very glad to read your comment...I will name one of my bunny rabbits Kalona.

hey, kalona! that's quite a story! i believe ya too.... what is it about that guy, right? he's like a buddha-without-the-beer-belly or whatever, yeah? but i'd love to have a beer with the guy, i'd probly settle for a livestream and a rum'n'lime or even just one of these videos i guess, with just me'n'my coffee, what-the-heck!
I consider myself a fairly hard-core Bruce Cockburn fan… this song always gets me choked up, every time I play it… In standard tuning. Pretty sure Bruce Cockburn’s got an open tuning happening on this version… Anybody know what that is??

i think it was actually a song about his last night of freedom before he had to go back to jail for some unpaid parking tickets or some such hi-crimes-'n'-misdemeanors tho
One of the greatest songs ever written! God bless you Bruce, I'm an Australian Christian in faith, this song is pure love!!!!
Bruce is a tremendous artist.
Such a MASTER MUSICIAN! And a prophet!! Thank You Bruce, for Being!!~~~
I cry every time I'm listening to this song.
Bruce is my all time favourite.
A brilliant songwriter and a very underated guitarist.

A gifted musician and storyteller.
This song makes my soul sad and makes me ashamed to be human
three months-til-climate-meltdown now!
This guy's live performance is on a different level from the rest.

Keith, you make me jealousy, I've never seen him play live. Creative, unique and compassionate.
