Having lived in Manchester 21 years, I’ve used the Metrolink extensively and I prefer it to buses and coaches when I go home to family in Ireland - my home area in Ireland is trying to get the rail line extended to the nearest town, which would make getting there from Dublin so much easier - the Manchester Metrolink compares well with our DART and our LUAS trams in Dublin 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Oh wow... just had an ace idea for a video for you to do in Wales.... Spell out the name... "Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch" !!!!!
Was just up in Manchester for the last week or so. The trams are brilliant - although yeah, the Airport bramch takes forever. Lovely walk along the Mersey from Sale Water Park to Didsbury though.
Brilliant video and I hope you've had a good Christmas Nick. I honestly agree with you about those advertising liveries being plastered over windows, it spoils the view.
Next year come to southwest London, where you can do Clapham Junction - Hounslow - Richmond - Isleworth - St. Margarets (getting four letters in one!!) - Strawberry Hill... (Oh, and see Miles In Transit for many, many complaints about not being able to film properly out of vinyled windows!)
I was trying to work out if you could do this with the Nottingham tram, but unfortunately there aren't any stops that begin with 'A', or any combination of letters that would work! Croydon Tramlink wouldn't either, as that elusive 'I' is missing, there's only one stop that begins with 'R' (Reeve's Corner), so can't do it. Unless you were able to claim an open day at Rigby Road depot, Blackpool Tramway wouldn't work as that would bring up the same issue as Croydon. Edinburgh Trams fails at the first letter, there's no 'C' stops! 😆 Tyne and Wear Metro works (just!) CHichester Regent Centre Ilford Road ST James MAnors South Gosforth (or any 'S' station)
Inspired by you, I did this in Chicago this past Christmas, though with still pictures rather than video. I stopped at Clinton, Harrison, Roosevelt, Indiana, Sedgwick, Thorndale, Merchandise Mart, Adams & Wabash, and State & Lake on the Chicago 'L'. It was great fun, as are your videos. Happy New Year to you!
The golf club is Sale Golf Club. The clubhouse is only round the corner but it's over a mile walk as it's right next to the M60 and you've got to walk to the nearest overbridge.
Enjoyable video as usual Nick! I understand how you feel about the livery on the window. Around Eurovision time one of the 777 trains was decked out in Eurovision colours. While it looked rather nice, it did cover some of the windows, making it difficult to look out of the window
Hey, D'Artagnan where are the other Musketeers today? Probably at home in the warm out of the wind. Great video very interesting for us that don,t have trams or railways. Hope you have a great Christmas and Santa was good to you.
Hi Nick, interesting idea here in Manchester, where I’ve lived 21 years - maybe next year you could try this on Dublin’s DART network or on our LUAS Trams and as a bonus, you could try spelling the word Nollaig which is the Irish Gaelic word for Christmas - I have extended family in Rural Ireland and friends around Dublin, so when I go home on the SailRail from Holyhead, I use the DART and the LUAS extensively - our place names appear in my native Irish Gaelic as well as in English, so you would have lots of fun doing this challenge in Dublin 🇮🇪☘️🇮🇪❤️
Very nicely done, and although you could have done City Centre for a faster time (ST Peter's Square, MArket Street and Shudehill to complete the set) it was good to see you taking the other lines instead. Having checked, you can't do that challenge on the Croydon Trams (as no station begins with I or has an RI for double). However, you can do the tube (District Line Only challenge too) like this: CHiswick Park, RIchmond, STamford Brook, MAnsion House, then St James' Park or Slone Square to finish). If you wanted the outer extremities of the tube, the Met line is your friend (CHorleywood, RIckmansworth) to start.
Would it be possible to do the Christmas (or Easter, Divali, Halloween) Challenge where you are not allowed to go back to a stop that you have been to before? Or at least on the same service, so if you went from Crumpsall on a Green route, you could go through it on a yellow, but where ever you went to on a yellow you could only go through that stop on a green, having to change before reaching Crumpsall again!
Excellent Nick. A minor criticism, "St." is short for "Saint"; it could be argued that using St. Werburgh's Road only really gave you an "S". You perhaps should have used Stretford.
Well done, and Merry Christmas Nick🎄🎅🏻! I’d love to try a challenge like that using my local transit systems, but New Jersey Transit doesn’t sell “rover” tickets, so every would need a point-to-point ticket purchase. (Maybe if I add in buses, I could use the 1 transfer allowed per line🤔)
you could donit on the tube, some examples are canons park, highbury, russel sq, ickenham (only station starting with i on the tube), swoss cottage, turnpike lane, marble arch, acton town, stanmore or the operators with santa (scotrail/southeastern/southern/whatever, avanti is the only a according to wikipedia, northern is all i can thunk of, tpe is all i can thinkof, avanti is only a)
Merry Christmas nick just want to say if next year you can do the Christmas challenge on the London Underground as I would love to see it in on the London Underground
People who stumble across this video in April may get pissed off by the music! Nonetheless very enjoyable even though it was maybe an excuse to show off your Christmas haircut. I had no idea the Mancester Metro was so extensive. Next year, try the same on the Isle of Wight railway!!
Merry Christmas Nick. Maybe do a Christmas Challenge of the London Underground, London Overground, DLR, Elizabeth Line, Tramlink and cable car next year.
To make it a better challenge you should have used the first letter of the station and not St and Ma. If the great GM was to fo the same he wouldn't cheat!!😂😂. The Tfl three did a challenge using the Overground to spell out the word Santa. Would have done Christmas but there isn't a station on the Overground that starts with M. I did suggest poetic license should let then use Emerson Park 😂😂
Love your content, Love your articulate manner, I subscribe, and I follow. INTERESTINGLY, I have observed that your right ear is slightly smaller and shapped differently than you left ear!!!! Do not let that trouble you. It adds charactor and I only noticed it due to my my Autistic tendency to observe detail. And your clean shaven look presents better than the scruffy "I live in a train station" look. Keep taking us on your fun adventures!
I've only used Metrolink once, and loved it! Possibly my third favourite tram service in the world, behind Amsterdam, and the Belgian Kusttram...
The Belgian tram along the coast!
Wonderful.

If and when you do visit bury, make sure to visit the east lancs heritage railway while there, plus there is a good bar at the station if you drink.
Was just up in Manchester for the last week or so. The trams are brilliant - although yeah, the Airport bramch takes forever. Lovely walk along the Mersey from Sale Water Park to Didsbury though.
Merry Christmas Nick! Can't wait to watch this years Christmas Challenge!
Actually wouldn't this be the holiday known as CHPRIWMSTWRMASWP?
Looks like you had fun Nick. Hope you had fun at Christmas day.
Love the metrolink as a local of the Oldham/Rochdale line which has a frequency of every 6 mins.
Merry Christmas Nick and a great video. But a East Didsbury Tram teasing you.... What the Dickens! 😂
Merry Christmas! I like the new Christmas ‘look’; hair cut, jacket and hoodie.
Brilliant video and I hope you've had a good Christmas Nick. I honestly agree with you about those advertising liveries being plastered over windows, it spoils the view.

CHichester

Ilford Road

Great video as always Nick, next year then onto the Tyne and Wear Metro CHRISTMAS jaunt 👍

Merry Christmas, Nick! Great video and challenge as always!
Excellent video Nick. Hope your having a wonderful Christmas.
The golf club is Sale Golf Club. The clubhouse is only round the corner but it's over a mile walk as it's right next to the M60 and you've got to walk to the nearest overbridge.
I’m guessing martinscroft isn’t the one near Woolston? Don’t ever remember trams coming down Manchester Road. 😂
hi another excellent and enjoyable video. Happy Christmas.
Brilliant idea, happy Christmas
Next year you’ll have to do the Tyne & Wear Metro, where there’s a single station beginning with R and a single station beginning with I…
Enjoyable video as usual Nick! I understand how you feel about the livery on the window. Around Eurovision time one of the 777 trains was decked out in Eurovision colours. While it looked rather nice, it did cover some of the windows, making it difficult to look out of the window

Great Christmas video Nick
One suggestion for a future challenge is to use a random word generator to determine which tram stops you visit
Been on most of the Manchester trams. Some good others not so. Victoria to Rochdale was well a long and winding road

Merry Christmas!!! Love Manchester’s Metrolink! 🥳🎄🎁❤️
Merry Christmas! Cool vid!
Next Christmas maybe do the London Underground? But make it so you can only do one station per line?
Very nicely done, and although you could have done City Centre for a faster time (ST Peter's Square, MArket Street and Shudehill to complete the set) it was good to see you taking the other lines instead.

ive got an idea for a pointless journey. Chester - Chester.
Loving the Holiday Haircut!!! Cool!
Nick’s very handsome too ❤
@@michaeljohndennis2231 Can't disagree with you here!
I’ve just thought of a Point to Point idea: Acton (London) to Acton Bridge
Merry Christmas
I think it's interesting that "I" is rarely used for names of stations roads etc
Next year try the Tyne & Wear Metro using an all zone all day ticket
I’ve been begging for this pointless journey for ages…
Farringdon (Tube station) to Farringdon (Thameslink and Elizabeth line)
Please please please!
Merry Christmas Get Nick Badley to 20k
Enjoyable watch as usual, Nick - Merry Christmas to you, Natt and families! Tyne & Wear Metro for this challenge next year, maybe?!

Great videos Nick, Merry Christmas Nick from Rob Lithgow NSW Australia…

People who stumble across this video in April may get pissed off by the music! Nonetheless very enjoyable even though it was maybe an excuse to show off your Christmas haircut. I had no idea the Mancester Metro was so extensive.

Merry Christmas Nick. Maybe do a Christmas Challenge of the London Underground, London Overground, DLR, Elizabeth Line, Tramlink and cable car next year.
Merry Christmas mate
Thanks Nick, Merry Christmas, will you be doing a New Year challenge?
merry Christmas!! 🎅🏻🎄❄️⛄️

I feel like Nick Bradley knew to do it on the Special Day.
Sorry Nick 😂
nick bradley 💀
Radcliffe in Mcr to Radcliffe in Nottingham for the next Pont to Point ???
9:00 true, but I think having an advertising on liveries at all is bad
Have you done wigan north western to wigan wallgate pointless journey yet?
And now you have to do video on clipper ticket
0:47 bop
More Metrolink please?
Interesting.
Merry Christmas to all who celebrate. I don't, I'm jewish.
Nice video! ! ! ! !

You are literally *the* first person on the channel to ever point that out! Congrats 😂
I wouldn’t get off at radcliffe if i were u
Nice video but can't help thinking doing "doubles" is kind of cheating!
I assumed it would go Sale, Trafford Bar, Alty.
Martinscroft? IS only M. you cheated!
MArtinscroft! You see?
it literally has an A aftee
You clearly didn't follow his rules at the beginning!
Merry Christmas
