I spent an aggregate of 32-months as a combat cameraman in Vietnam. I really respect the cameramen who covered this battle! It would have been a damned difficult area in which to shoot!
As a proud Filipino, Philippines liberated their own city without the help of outside forces. It was the bravery & courage of Filipinos who won the city back.
C'mon man we all know the US forces were there to teach the troops how to fight in the urban area. Even the scout rangers are inexperienced in urban warfare. They are best in jungle ops.
@@roninkmh7625 actually they weren't, we trained our own. we often cross train with the AFP for many trainings and when we train with foreign forces, it was their equipment and infinite ammo we are up to. but the skill? we learn them on our own. Urban warfare? we have better trainings... sadly, we do not have the resources to simulate them more than once or twice but our drills have proven better. you will know if you are in the armed uniformed service.

And now the government prioritize the AFP modernization. We are now more capable. Even the homegrown rebels like the CCP NPA is not even a threat anymore.

If it wasn’t because of the highly trained Armed forces of the Philippines and with the help of the US elite groups, it would be more than 6 months of massacres.
The group you were referring to are the LRR ( Light Reaction Regiment ) trained by US Special Forces ( Green Berets ). All branches of service were called upon to neutralize ISIS. No one was left out. We also called upon US Navy SEALs to help. We paid dearly for them with the lives of our soldiers and marines but there is no way we can let these terrorists enter our country and spread death and destruction. Scout Ranger snipers put an end to the Malaysian and local leader of the terrorists thereby ending the siege.
Sorry but let me give corrections. There was no U.S Navy Seals on the ground during the Entire five months in Marawi. But there are U.S MARSOC, In connection to the MARSOC being there, they we're not allowed to engage, only supervising our forces (particular to all SF units that operated there) Speaking about Green Berets, the LRR actually asked ODA to borrow a capable weapon system to snipe targets more capable then their SR-25 and M24. And they got the answer from the MARSOC that was already in there. Lastly, it wasn't Scout Ranger sniper that killed Omar and Hapilon. LRR's STG led by Gulf Three have 16 snipers in different positions, working synchronously with help of Philippine Airforce 710th CAC. It was an LRR-STG component that actually killed the leader, seconded by a .50 cal fire from the mech's APC *Just a fact. The LRR have confirmed kill almost 1.2 KM in pitch black using the sniper weapon system they borrowed from the MARSOC.

Just a correction: Filipino soldiers are experts in jungle combat, not in urban warfare coz it never happened. Another factor that made this harder, is that the enemy was born and raised in that very place so he knows every bit of that city more than any of the soldiers.

no bro, the first generation LRR was trained specially for counter-terrorist ops / urban combat. They were trained by Delta Force. first gen LRR had the skills and the experience. See Zamboanga Siege (which looked like a brief encounter) The root problem is the training and equipment started to get watered down from all the budget cuts. "a US$1million SEAL is not equal to a US$100k SEAL"

scary to think what though each soldier were thinking while braving through piles debris, like constantly thinking "Am I stepping on a bomb?" or "is there an enemy around this corner?"
Also a factor in the PH armed forces' victory against the terrorists in Marawi was having a Commander in Chief who was decisive and strong willed. And that's Rodrigo Duterte. Politicians were complaining about his full use of force and weapons that would destroy the city. But he said to hell with the city buildings, they can be rebuilt, but the lives of the people that would be lost under the terrorist invaders can never be brought back. If we had a weak president that has no will to rally his troops in this campaign, the battle would take longer and more people would lose their lives. It's really essential to have a capable leader at the helm who has complete trust and confidence in his armed forces.

One story got me chills, A marawi soldier sacrificed his life to end the war at best, This person is known as 24 Year Old Private Dhan Ryan Bayot, He found himself alone in a ambush and then radio to his commanding officer, " Just Bomb My Location Sir, Take Them Down With Me.! " What's even more sad was that the Commanding Officer was his Father.
I really like your commentary towards the Marawi siege and the soldiers are true hero and if you want to check out the video of a particular soldier hero named, Dhan Ryan Bayot who had the famous words, “Just bomb my location, Sir!” (Translated) when he was surrounded by the Maute group in Marawi.

Also a factor in the PH armed forces' victory against the terrorists in Marawi was having a Commander in Chief who was decisive and strong willed. And that's Rodrigo Duterte. Politicians were complaining about his full use of force and weapons that would destroy the city. But he said to hell with the city buildings, they can be rebuilt, but the lives of the people that would be lost under the terrorist invaders can never be brought back. If we had a weak president that has no will to rally his troops in this campaign, the battle would take longer and more people would lose their lives. It's really essential to have a capable leader at the helm who has complete trust and confidence in his armed forces.

One story got me chills, A marawi soldier sacrificed his life to end the war at best, This person is known as 24 Year Old Private Dhan Ryan Bayot, He found himself alone in a ambush and then radio to his commanding officer, " Just Bomb My Location Sir, Take Them Down With Me.! " What's even more sad was that the Commanding Officer was his Father.

I really like your commentary towards the Marawi siege and the soldiers are true hero and if you want to check out the video of a particular soldier hero named, Dhan Ryan Bayot who had the famous words, “Just bomb my location, Sir!” (Translated) when he was surrounded by the Maute group in Marawi.
