The Davy Jones in Spongebob vs. the big one was Davy Jones from The Monkees. They were a popular band in the 60's.

so spongebobs story isn't true If the dutchman himself contradicts it
Unless:
- He was put in a display and later buried.
- He was taken out of his grave and put on display.
- It's a parallel universe.
when the Dutchman is talking about SpongeBob's costume he pulls him down to look at his feet and is referring to the clogs he's wearing. his namesake is that he was born in the Netherlands where the people are referred as the Dutch. when he calls SpongeBob's costume insulting, he's talking about the Dutch clogs which is a stereotype and the Dutchman takes offense of. he looks to resemble a pirate from the 16th to 17th century at that time the Netherlands was known as the Dutch Republic.
The Flying Dutchman's obsession with socks isn't because it reminds him of being alive, it's likely twofold: Davy Jones Locker in the show is a gym locker, ergo gym socks. As well as the fact that the Flying Dutchman was a sailor, and fresh clean socks are absolutely paramount to prevent trenchfoot on damp ships.
One small problem: the Flying Dutchman isn’t a man but the ship itself in the myth.
The two skeletons you pointed out on the Mauna Loa, one of them (the one mr. Krabs is pointing at) is in the fake ship, and the skeleton is made of plastic, whereas the one patrick stands next to is the real one. Meaning that the skeletons can't be the Dutchman and his friend. + The Mauna Loa shipwreck looks completely different to the Flying Dutchman's boat.

The SpongeBob episode talking about the maunaloa that skeleton sitting in the ship chair in the captains quarters is made of plastic cuz if you look further in the episode when Mr Krabs finds it he thinks it's the real thing until he literally puts his Claw on the Statue sitting in that chair and it was made of plastic and he also finds tickets and tokens

Even though it’s supposed to be silly and I knew that as a kid, the idea of using someone’s dead body in a window display freaked me out.
Some of the theory is a bit far fetched and not really grounded and evidence but thats okay! Its still a really fun theory and more then i could come up with XD. Your editing is also really good, it makes your videos a lot of fun to watch. I have just subscribed ;3.
