    Bob,
    How important is the elevation component to Sourwood Production? I have heard you mention that Sourwood does not produce well unless at higher elevations. Can you remind me what elevations you prefer? I am in Gilmer County, in Ellijay. I have Sourwood as well but last year my bees did not seem to be on it. They stayed on the Dutch clover even during the Sourwood Flow. But some local Bee keepers say they will pass up everything else if the Sourwood is producing. Not sure if it was elevation or just a bad flow.

      Many parts of north Georgia had a poor Sourwood season last year. We had one of our worst. Perhaps this year will be better. Sourwood can generally be made from 1500 feet to well over 3000. My experience over thirty years is that 1800 to 2300 is the best average over time but any of those elevations can do well.

    Question this time you’re recommending too treat for varroa beside oxalic acid? I have quick strips or Apiguard

    • @bobbinnie9872
      @bobbinnie9872  15 годин тому

      Apiguard is what we use in August and Oxalic acid vaporization in winter.

    I do have a question, two-part, do you use different size holes for feeding 1 sugar - 1.5 water, 1 sugar - 1 water, or 2 sugar - 1 water. What size holes do you use?

    When a laying worker lays drones in worker frames do these frames become drone frames forever ?

    • @bobbinnie9872
      @bobbinnie9872  26 днів тому +1

      No. As soon as that brood is gone it can be used normally by a queen.

    Where does one find good Caucasian queens? I did a google search and not much of anything.

    • @bobbinnie9872
      @bobbinnie9872  26 днів тому

      There aren't many people out there doing a good job of producing pure Caucasians. I that know we don't but we like to put a lot of those genetics in our bees. Old Sol Apiaries in Oregon has a good reputation with their queens and I've been told that they have some degree of Caucasian in them. I've never used them so I can't say how good they are personally.
