The media are laughably clueless with Ham. They never screemed at the screen for him to call a timeout, to create defensive tactics that shut down the 3 ball, to start Rui over Prince, to play Max Christie more than 1-2 minutes a game, and a dozen other things that were painfully obvious to both us and the players. How many coaches have players changing tactics because the coach is so clueless that they have no other choice if they want to win!

Won’t matter who the coach is.. untill players change n or retire it’s a play in for the next couple of years
if they want hurley, they should try to convince jj to be an assistant. best of both worlds? gives jj the experience he lacks for a resume and he still gets to be in a major market without having to be the scapegoat. lakers can still benefit from his player experience and knowledge. he'll then be primed for coach anywhere else.

Darvin was a nice guy but lets be honest the man couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag, the only reason the dude has a winning record as a coach is because of the trade the lakers made to get Westbrook tf outta Lakerland, LeBron James at 39 years old is unbelievably good still and Anthony Davis is a defensive god. If he didn't have the two superstar caliber players and the good role players then that western conference finals appearance would have never happened, and that's Darvin's crowning moment as a coach losing in the western conference finals. I can't wait for Darvin to get another job as a coach somewhere else so you people in the basketball media can finally open your damn eyes and realize he's not a good coach
Yeah him and other defending Ham only talk about oh his team made it to the west finals just last year. Watch him!!! Don’t watch the results. David Blatt took his team to the finals and next season was first in the east half way through the season and got fired and no team ever even interviewed him for a job again. Because people watch and know it wasn’t because of him they were successful. Ham wasn’t good and you will see no other team will hire Ham again

Dan Hurley should stay with UCONN and try to win 1-2 more titles. Once LeDiva leaves Lakers in two years-three years, then he should go to the Lakers.
My whole thought process is that he's gonna stay with Uconn. I think he fully would love to take the Lakers job and Lakers will offer him a ton of money and chance to be coach of storied most popular NBA franchise etc and all that but he's close with his family and his wife likes the east coast and so does his parents who he's close too. If they don't want to move it'll be very hard for me to see him prying them away from that.

Why doesn't anyone talk about the possibility that the Lakers use Hurley as leverage against JJ Redick? He only now surfaces as a candidate after it looked like it would be JJ. Maybe JJ was asking for more salary and years than the Lakers want to offer

Hurley should consider jack mccloskeys career. Success to him came through roster building in Detroit . Not in coaching the blazers or Lakers. To date DH has had control over two of the legs of the 3 legged stool. Ie coaching and roster development. Moving to Lakers from college he gives up the more important latter. And even getting veto power in the draft trade roster development does not guarantee success. See, Pitino and celtics. The player "will if I want to league " is the third leg. And about building confidence and trust with TALENT . BRAD STEPHENS GOT OUT OF COACHING .

What I am so focused on is the concerted effort by Woj and SAS to shift the narrative that the lakers ALWAYS wanted Hurley. It’s like Jeanie told them to go out there and get that message across

Hurley is no sure thing. I’ve watched him closer than anyone. Haven’t missed a single press conference after every game in four years. He doesn’t handle adversity all that well. Building culture is is much more applicable to kids just outta high school. In the pro’s, many players have their own attitudes and it ain’t gonna change

Now it's The National Basketball Association? I get Wojnis the source of information when it comes to coaching in the NBA, and the pressure that comes with it. The Lakers are up there, but the Yankees, and especially the Cowboys are franchises that have large fan bases along with high expectations year after year. So IMO Woj should stick to the NBA about coaching the Lakers.

Lebron worked very well with Spoelstra and Hurley could be just as good if not better. Lakers are a good team they’ve just had terrible coaching and players like D’Angelo Russell underperforming in Che playoffs that made them lose all the close games to Denver. With a decent roster turner over and adding Hurley, Lakers can very dangerous even with lebron turning 40.
Besides spolstra and Lue who were the only good coaches in Lebrons career how did the others do without bron ???

I wouldn't want the job of being the Lakers HC the average coach isn't being long-term HC last coach to do so was Phil Jackson held longest tenure as Lakers HC. The biggest issue is Rob Palinka has been the worst GM for the Lakers at least Jerry Buss was the better the GM than that even when the Lakers had Mitch Kupchak as an GM he made good moves to improve this team, Jennie Buss and Rob together don't function well as GM to make this team competitive enough.
