Some elements are masked and have indeed a background element. You could just delete that one element. Generative AI is inherently pixel based and with pixels there is always a background. So Illustrator also does trace it and then later it is masked. When you copy and place it into other applications then everything gets released and you have to sort it inside that app. If that is not possible then you can also clean it up in Illustrator before copy-Pasting it. That would be a great topic for a video - would you like that covered?
Yes I think that would be a great topic to cover aswell because I try to remove the background from the generated ai but somehow it still remains, seems to differ a bit if the generade vector is lower/higher detailed aswell. Would love it if you could investigate in this for a solution :) @@Vektorgarten
Great. Which Beta version is it? In the German 28.1 45 Windows Beta the text-to.vector tool seems not implemented. At least I can't find it. Retype, Recolor are available. My Creative Cloud doesn't offer English versions.
It's kind of surprising that when making icons you can't tell it to match the exact colours of the existing icons. In my opinion, it's not matching the style if the colours are going to be random.
I don't think it's suitable for icons at all because of the lack of precision in the drawing. As for the colors not matching: I think it can be explained by how Text2Vector works (it needs to make a detour through pixels and it needs to function when there are fewer elements in the next icon than in the previous one), but yes, there should be better matching colors. You can report that to the engineers. I would try that, because that is a totally logical request.

You can use Image Trace to vectorize raster images such as PNGs. Depending on the actual content of the PNG drawing it with the pen tool or other tools might give you better results.
I want to create a child character in AI. I also want to draw pictures related to the same character. I want to use this character in a story I wrote. Is this possible? I can't do this with AI, it creates a different child picture every time and it breaks the harmony that should be in my story.

There is an analysis of the output in my follow-up video. And yes: this is not suitable for precise artworks. Still I like the inspiration that I can gain from some of the output. It's when it glitches that it is surprising and can be refreshing.
@@Vektorgarten I was maybe a bit harsh. It's definately pretty cool. I'm sure it will get better over time. After using other image generators, I was expecting Adobe's stab at it to be a little more robust though.
@@furtherthanever11 The raster based engines used in Photoshop are way better. The thing is that AI based image generation can only run on pixels (it's the "Diffusion" part of stable diffusion). So this Text to Vector function *must* run through pixels and then in order to get vector artwork, it also needs to run through autotrace. And autotrace can only be so good. I've tested Autotrace in a few other apps. Let's just say that they are all limited. The tech currently is not very advanced.

Yes, you need internet. If you don't have connection, then Illustrator will ask you to check it and can't generate until you are online.

It's not in the beta, but in the released version. You have to update Illustrator to version 2024.
This feature is now in the new non-Beta release too. Look in the window menu toward the bottom or bring up the Properties pallete. It's there too.

No, it can't. If you want that, use Firefly online. Or in Photoshop.
... Trying it out myself yields nothing but garbage. It's basically a Google Images Live Trace tool. I wouldn't wish this upon my worst client.
