I made the mistake of using tap water once. It caused my cooling system to do the same thing yours is doing. My old radiator was not rusty, or gunked up, I put tap water I. It, now my whole system looks like yours.
Tri-sodium phosphate from the hardware store with cascade dish detergent will truly clean this crap out. They took TSP out of the standard auto coolant cleaner stuff you buy at the parts house. Flush with it pretty strong and you’ll be in good shape.
I don't recall seeing it myself. I disconnected mine and didnt run a reservoir on mine, andni no longer have the car so I can't go out and check.... sorry!
Why the tap water where is the coolant? Dexcool is recommended for reason all that muck is yes lack of maintenence and from not use coolant and only water will destroy a cooling system wow.
Lol yes I know. The reason I was using just tap water is because I knew the system was already a lost cause. If it wasn't so rusted and clogged I would of used 50/50 of distilled water and coolant, not just tap water. The owner before fuck that car up. Sad thing is he was a "mechanic".
@@killrspeed00 Hey thanks for the video..my question 🙄 I have a 1987 C4 Corvette I can't find anything on my engine that looks like a bleeder valve for the coolant system. And I have only been able to find one video, with a guy that has a 87 C4 Corvette. He changed his antifreeze but he didn't bleed it. His video showed the air bubbles coming up from the radiator.
If I'm not mistaken it's the l98 correct? If so they do not have a bleeder valve. You have to burp the system or go do a couple hard passes on it and the air bubbles should clear up, assuming that's your issue.
Stop using hose water that why you getting rust . Does that lt1 have the opti spark under water pump? Oh you answered that lololo Convert to coil pack if you have the cash. mine also has rust and blown head gasket .Just keep driving it cannot afford to fix.I also do not use a thermostats .But also because of head gasket leak I have no heat anyway
Lol I only use hose water because it was already so far gone when I got the car. I could use a spoon and take the old coolant junk because it had all hardened before I bought it. Yes coil pack on top is a lot better. I have the car parked and for sale. No more time or money for it.... Not worth it in my opinion.
Yeah it definitely needs a lot of work. But if it doesn't sell then I'm going to fix it up but also gut it. If it does sell then maybe a turbo kit for the mustang 😉.
Thank you for making a very clear and descriptive video on this. Appreciate the time you took to explain things.
Your welcome. Thank you for you're feedback.
Great informative video; thank you for putting this together!
You're welcome!
A lot of comments here about not using tapwater. Did you hear him say it was like that when he bought the car? Use some active listening.

Yes mine was like that when I bought it, literally solid junk no liquid. You can use tap water its just on how you maintain it.

Yeah that's some good shit. Wish I would of thought about that when I had the car.
Great video dude.you can make a lot of bean burritos with the gunk
Haha I was waiting for your comment :)
My 8 year old son told me it looked like "Diarrhea" lol
Thanks bro
I have a 94 lt1 but idk why I can’t find the cold fill line on the reservoir. Where is it?

Theirs a cap stick on mine

that block has rust in it along with some type of stop leak...that seems to be left in it....but this a good video.
Thank you I appreciate the feedback and yes you are right the guy before wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed lol.

Yeah especially passenger side
Yeah love these cars.im waiting for you to make a video taking valve overs off
Yes maybe one day... thats a bit bigger of a pain.
That's what tap water does to your radiator, it's called electrolysis build up. I'd stop using that tap water.
Tap water carodes

Pull the engine and work on it when ever you want :) long term project . Cya

Automotive Junkie Mustang? Mopar or GM only Ford never
Haha I like em all.
I Wonder why it keeps gunnkng up on you
Considering how many times I have cleaned this... lack of maintenance, and he called himself a mechanic haha
Good luck with no t stat buddy, your car needs to operate in a certain temp range....the engineers are smarter than you are
Anybody else see that wierd red dot?
Yea bro I use my bottled water if I need to use water before I use tap that’s all that shit in ur radiator
