Hello and thank you for tuning into our first video in our paint series. We want to show you how we paint our parts and pretty much everything that goes with that. We're not perfect but we have been painting for over 8 years. Just a brief history on us, we were one of the first "Pre-painted auto parts" providers online. We've learned a thing or two painting thousands of parts. We all had to start somewhere and we want to share that with you. No one likes mistakes, but what is often overlooked is they are lessons. We've made a lot of mistakes and we hope we can teach you so that you avoid the mistakes we made.
Prepping parts is extremely essential before you paint. If you do not take your time and thoroughly prep the part, it will only create problems for you in the paint booth and afterward. Paint materials are very expensive and the last thing you want to do is waste your time and money. We'll list out all the tools we use to prep our parts.
    3M Wet or dry abrasive sheets 600 & 400
Norton wet or dry abrasive sheets 600 & 400
3M 400 grit trizact (velcro) abrasive paper
3M Stikit Gold abrasive sheet roll 320 or
Norton Adalox abrasive 320 roll (yellow)
    3M Stikit Gold/Brown abrasive roll 180 or
Norton champagne PSA abrasive roll 180
    Dura-Block Sanding set
Big Kid Blocks sanders (various, we really love these!)
    Exacto blade
Soap & water (we use dawns professional)
    Goo Gone (for glue)
    Metal Glaze (we use EverCoat)
    Automotive spatulas
    3M respirator N95 mask
    SEM primer
    Powder-free latex gloves (Raven)
Now we are into the painting equipment and this varies depending on your budget and, or what stage you're in your career. For the most part, the paint materials cost the most. There are a ton of great companies that sell paint guns and different price points. We definitely recommend starting with something affordable and moving your way up to different types of guns. You'll want to paint with an HVLP gun because it's more versatile than the older spray guns. You will also need a facemask/respirator and a paint suit. The paint suit isn't required but it will save you a lot of headaches and time. Of course, you will need paint but it's best to get this from a pain supplier depending on your needs. Once you grow and are constantly painting, you can spend the big bucks on a paint bank. We use lesonal paint by AkzoNobel.
Paint gun (get what you're comfortable with)
3M half-mask respirator (or full mask from any brand)
Paint suit (this will keep your parts clean and skin clean)
Paint gun cleaning kit (there are so many affordable kits)
    Tack cloth
Automotive surface cleaner ( there are many but we use 3M)
We definitely have more videos on the way. So please, let us know in the comments if we missed something, or if you want to know more!

What type of gun do you recommend for a beginner

I started off with Devilbiss Finishline. It came with 3 guns. It lasted a year of high volume painting. I liked that gun cuz it flowed really well. Go to www.ReveMoto.com
