you are the only UA-camr I've watched who can correctly say the name of this engine, not just the general "2.0 inline-4 Turbo"

Airmatic isn't the Mercedes lingo for adaptive suspension, it just means the suspension is based on air. Adaptive suspension is something different. It means the suspension "adapts" the road surface, but doesn't include necessarily an air suspension. Mercedes has also produced hydraulic suspensions with adaptive functionality. That said the adaptive damping system (ADS) is only a feature of this suspension.
They also had a mid-class system which was a regular steel spring suspension with different damping settings (comfort, sport, sport+) but without air suspension and wasn't height adjustable. but this system was an "adaptive suspension", too.
Why no airmatic anymore in the facelift? It's simple: Airmatic was an option for 205 series but not enough people ordered this feature and so they cancelled it. This is the official statement from Mercedes.

It does still adapt, the driver just has no control over how it does it. They call it selective damping
