The whole Use Your Illusion artwork was and still is really beautiful and well developed. Even though I love Appetite and consider it their best LP and the best album in rock history, the twin albums had a magnificent concept. And that is the reason this deluxe box set looks soooo fucking good.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Can I say something please for anyone out there who really loves Guns N' Roses? I can still remember September 17, 1991 when UYI 1&2 were first released like it was only just five minutes ago. It was magical to finally have brand new studio material from this band. It was not just positive excitement leading up to this release either. Many people honestly thought a new album after "Lies" would never happen. This is so cool to see this new product released especially considering the live DVD part. Very disappointing though with what one pays there should be at least two concert videos. I don't understand why Axl has been so averse to releasing pro shot concert video from the UYI and AFD tours after three decades. This new release should have video from BOTH The Ritz 91 and Las Vegas 92. Just imho, two unreleased pro-shot concert videos with this package would have been astronaumcally cool because it has been so long since that era, people love (a lot) to see concert videos of shows they either never went to or went to and want to experience again. Also and very important, those two partucular shows included here represent two very different chapters during that mega UYI era. The Ritz 91 was with Izzy right at the beginning of the mayhem and the Las Vegas show was at full speed into the tour with Gilby. Sorry for the rant people. The hard rock and heavy metal music from this era has a very deeply anchored place in my heart and soul. Metallica just came out with their Black Album only a month earlier and of course new albums from Skid Row, RHCP, Ozzy, Van Halen, and Nirvana just off the top to mention came our at this same time too.
Totally with you on the rant. That summer of 91 was epic. I was lucky enough to go the Wembley Stadium show of August that year. And GNR was so good that night. I still to this day have some memories of that performance GNR did that night. Still to this day it's 1 of my fav shows I've been too. It still kills me I'll never get to see the pro shot of that show in full which you know 100% is collecting dust in some vault. Even though i seen GNR other times when they played the UK on the UYI tour i never thought they where ever as good once Izzy left.
I was a huge Guns N’ Roses fan and waited so many years for that album to come out. I collected every Hit Parader and Metal magazine that had GNR in it. When the release date was set I remember actually calling my local record store and they were selling it days in advance. I remember being sick at the time and took the bus with a fever to pick up the cassettes. I fast forwarded to November Rain on the bus ride back and couldn’t believe how different it was than Appetite. My favorite song was Estranged I played it thousands of times. Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s was the best. My kids all love the music I grew up on and they admit todays music sucks. So are we ever going to see a follow up since the band is back together?
I purchased Locked’N Loaded a few months ago. When I heard about this I wanted it to complete the collection. Then I heard the price & what’s included & I can’t justify spending that much money on this.
As with “Locked N’ Loaded” which originally retailed for $900-$1K (I think), there’s a good chance the UYI Super Deluxe will be drastically reduced at some point when excess inventory piles up. I purchased my brand new “Locked N’ Loaded” set from UDiscover Music earlier this year for $250 with free shipping. Rock on! 🤘🏼
The product is beautiful and has interesting things, but it really isn't worth the price. And the version is more for those who are a big fan, I'm going to buy the version with two discs, what matters in the end is the music, best double album in history 🤟🏻
are the vinyls just black ? you would think orange and blue vinyl in the album lol dont matter to me either way i would never pull the trigger on it and buy it the ozzy one is way cooler autographed and every album is a designed splattered vinyl that look awesome BUT i didnt pull the trigger on that one either if i were to spend that money id get the ozzy one over this all day long

!!!! in the "nomal" LP 2022 comes in gatefold with polylined inner sleeves !!!! i bought both I & II and it came with white polylined inner sleeves cant understand why it didnt in the boxset !!!! No demos or outtakes ... 500e not worth it for me !

I got the Appetite set for $500 a few years ago and that one has so much more better stuff in it... it also has the songs on a USB stick (which is just as good, if not better than a download code) - the extras in this set look cheap. when I first heard of the set and the UNRELEASED TRACKS, I thought they were going to be some new, unfinished songs from the recording sessions - not just a couple of LIVE shows

I think we have seen and heard it all before. Just new graphics. Would be cooler if the band had been involved in making the box set, with extra interviews, comments on songs, demos, unreleased, cd's etc. Idk. The book was cool though.

A great album I think one of the great double albums . Just the price holds me back. The Metallica box sets are excellent and they're about half the price. Love G&R , love Appetite and Illusion , and I have the Appetite cd box set but this is just a bit expensive. I'll keep an eye on Amazon to see if it gets cheaper.
Guns was a young man's band. That's probably why they broke up. Seeing them in 2022... they are just too old, overweight and out of date. But back in 91/92, they really were something.
13 years old my best friend and I had tickets to see them in Bonner Springs Kansas and they canceled because of the St. Louis riot never have I forgiven that band to this day
They made a surround sound mix for this like they did with AFD… then didn’t bother to include it here. Seems to be the latest ongoing trend from the record labels, I’m looking at you Revolver.
Mostly pictures of Axl, Slash and Duff, barely even a mention of Izzy despite the fact half the songs were his. I truly despise what this band has become and how much Slash and Duff have pandered to Axls ego just for a payday. There was a brilliant double album in there trying to get out, if only they'd got rid of stupid crap like "Get in the Ring". The cracks were already beginning to show and they just got bigger every time the lead singer decided to keep the rest of the band and the audience waiting hours for him to turn up. If only they'd let Matt give him a slap this could all have been avoided.
Use Your illusion 1 & 2 boxset does everything wrong that the Appetite For Destruction got it right. Too much live stuff! I want demos, b-sides, videos!
I really can't see the reason for your negativity. This is a product meant for GnR superfans which you clearly are not. It is value for money? Absolutely not, but did anyone expect it to be? For $500 I doubt there could be something in there to make it worth other than a gold bar. So you knew what you were getting into. Would a couple more LPs and a digital version of them make it worth it? I doubt it. And one more thing. As a vinyl community, we have been pushing for years to get the proper packaging, and when you finally get some double packaging, you go ahead and complain about it being not eco-friendly. Really? Well, I understand that first of all, you are paying for the brand and G'n'R brand is expensive. I also understand that hardcore fans would buy anything - for them it is all emotions, joy and so on. But I also could compare this extremely expensive release with some others: U2 - All That You Can't Leave Behind - 11 LPs, hardbook - 200 Eur Metallica - Black Album - 6 LPs, 13 CDs, 6 DVDs - 250 Eur Or just math: 2 double albums + 2 live albums could cost 250 Eur top, so fans really should pay for collectables + box 250 Eur? Would you buy this if it would be sold separately? I highly doubt it. So I would not be so critical if at least, all the things that you would expect having were perfect. But they are not. And this release is not even numbered, it does not have a certificate or something that would make us to pay the price, that is the thing! So would more LPs make this release more valuable? Would proper dust-sleeves make it better? Would included digital format, hi-res or multichannel mix would it better? For the ones who already paid - probably not. For the ones, who thinking of buying it - well, they just will not buy it
You could look at the Metallica Black Album box set, from the exact same era of 1990 to 1993...writing, recording and touring. you'd want to think there could have been a similar size dump of demos, riff tapes, and live shows for this price.

Artists wanting control of things they need not control. Just a bunch a fluff. While Illusions were great releases, it suffered from bloat and extra fat. If they had trimmed the fat a bit they would have had a better release, but to each their own. Like Metallica with And Justice for All. Keep the bass and you have a better release. Anyway, it is their creation. Will be interesting to see the sales.

4 albums for 450 GBP is not expensive for GNR. This is the band ever, and best content you can buy. I'd like it to be cheaper but happy with it as it is. Wish they released more stuff especially demos, live recodings and such.

4 albums for 450 GBP is not expensive for GNR. This is the band ever, and best content you can buy. I'd like it to be cheaper but happy with it as it is. Wish they released more stuff especially demos, live recodings and such.

Thank you for this publication: I would have bought this box IF it had either CD or digital(on USB sticks per example) all of the material from the vinyl. Who uses vinyl now? I would not buy a vinyl player just for that.
Other than that, this box is amazing.
There are CD version of this box and it is cheaper. Vinyl boxes are the most expensive always
